  • Don't get me wrong, coz' I'm not saying their isn't anything extraordinary or supernatural about karma. But here's the thing the supernatural is natural, just look up at the milky way on a clear night and you will see just how extraordinary the universe is.
    #quantumentanglement #newtonianphysics
00:02 What’s natural about the supernatural?
00:34 In order to understand the profound first we need to understand the easy stuff!
01:26 Is there proof of Karma and other lives?
03:34 The Buddha taught many stories most of them sound inconceivable.
07:43 Quantum Entanglement is also inconceivable to us.
09:00 The Buddha taught that if you give you will receive
10:11 Only a Buddha can understand Karma!
11:46 Look up into the night sky and wonder

I appreciate the teaching, but I think that quantum entanglement is not a good example. Quantum entanglement is a description of correlation between a measurable property -- it's not suggesting that making a change to one particle magically changes its entangled counterpart. "when the state of one particle is changed, then the state of the other automatically changes" I think this part is incorrect

    • @ultimatemeaning

Hi Alex please refer to the Bell Theorem for a method by which the non-local effects of Quantum Entanglement can be proven:
      en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bell%27s_theorem
But again the statement of this video is "much of what is taught in scientific thinking seems inconceivable to us" but I will add that much of that which we accept as (scientific) truth will inevitably be superceded.
      Thanks for sharing

@@ultimatemeaning thanks for the response. I'm familiar with Bell's theorem, but I think we have different interpretations of it. That's not uncommon, most physicists who are paid to study such things don't agree on it either!
Indeed, I hope all our scientific understandings are swiftly superseded.
Physical analogies to philosophical concepts are kind of fraught by nature. Analogies can be good signposts, but they aren't sufficient for understanding.
For any others here who may be interested, I highly recommend Sabine Hossenfelder's videos on this and related topics

"Physical" reality has been proven by both physics and neuroscience to be a false premise. There hasn't been a real physicists since Einstein failed to measure the electron. There will never be another, physics is thoroughly debunked. Your talking about grifters, nothing more. This has been proven by neuroscience to be a mental projection, or in other words an imaginary place. There are no valid arguments for physical "reality" left, none.
Now if they changed their theories to integrate new data, they could possibly gain a shred of credibility back. However, they refuse because they want to grift off their fantasy construct for as long as they can.

    Another lunchtime treat. Thanks!
Quantum entanglement is not quite as inconcievable or mystical as some people feel past/future lives are, as we can measure the effects that give rise to the theory. Similar to gravity. Gravity has no corporeal substance in the form of particles but we all have conviction that it is present as a natural principle because we can experience its effects for ourselves.
In my view, the idea of past/future lives is just as plausible as the idea of no past and future lives, but I would want some more personal experience or compelling evidence of its effects before being convinced of it as a something more than just a helpful idea that can help us to orient our lives towards a greater purpose, as there are both assets and liabilities to adopting any logical construct.
I know there is some legitimate research out there on past/future lives. Perhaps you could put some links up for those of us toying with how cultivating conviction in this idea could help us become more skillful, compassionate beings.

I wonder what you think of NDEs (near death experiences)? People commonly report that we choose to be incarnated here and that we get the choice of our future lives. Of course, this begs the question, who the hell would choose to be born as a baby with harlequin syndrome that gets to die after only a few minutes of coming into the world, or a child in Gaza who gets to have their whole family obliterated by bombs, only to later starve to death, or any number of other horrendous possibilities?
Nevertheless, near death experiencers are often able to report details of things they could not possibly have known about according to conventional logic, such as the kind of medical equipment used on them (when they were brought into the hospital unconscious and had no way of seeing such things), details about the room/building/surgeon's clothing, details about deceased loved ones who they met on 'the other side' that they apparently never knew about before, etc.
I don't know quite what to make of them. On the face of them, they seem to paint a less scary picture of the cosmos than that of most Earthly religions, including Buddhism. The vast majority of them are life-affirming and peaceful, and most experiencers claim that we are here for a purpose and that there might even be a god. Nevertheless, a minority do report paying visit to hellish realms. Do you have anything to say on this topic, Theory of Samsara? It's definitely an interesting one.

Why do you need the absolute truth? You are unlikely to catch a dynamic system with static tools. If you search for this type of truth you'll get something but it is unlikely to make sense.
That being said ... I'm no spiritual master but I found that if you have questions, just ask them, as humbly as you can. In the past, when I tried to ask very profound questions about the universe I got a "it doesn't really matter and it will not fill your void" type of answer. I'm still curious and I understand in time some of these questions will cross my path.
Note : It's my belief we're struggling with quantum physics because we're looking at the world from a different perspective which turns what we see into a "diffusion pattern". Doesn't make it less fascinating ...

The Buddhist view is the view of past and future lives, and karma. and because of this the one who holds this view is encouraged to practise virtue and avoid negativity.

I feel it to be more like an entire ocean..... im happy to be wrong.... perhaps it is the human form which has the karma and conciousness is happy to oblige with all of our evolution? .... and so doesn't mind, doesn't know the difference between hard and easy...... pain and pleasure....... but the physical form inhabited by the conciousness (us, the human being) knows it very well, in fact knows mainly physical things.... even to the point of forgetting it is conciousness to begin with..... quantum entanglement wow!..... you are an excellent teacher. Lama la, this is a lucid explanation. Thank you. 🙏🙏🙏 I'm interested in quantum entanglement because it makes very plausible sense, as does karma cause and effect. As an ordinary being, I may not always know the exact cause of a particular experience, but I 100% believe there must've been one. In a rudimentary way, I can observe the outcome of my choices, and I can then infer that cause and effect can happen at every level of existence. If a person can observe something at a smaller level, then certainly it can happen on a larger or more long-term scale. Also, if (according to the law of conservation) energy can not be created or destroyed and we are crafted of energy, then it implies we have always existed and will always exist in some form or another. Hence, the plausibility of past and future lives. ❤

My goal with this comment, is that whoever reads it: Get their family album, search old videos from their childhood on youtube, try to remember significant things in their family home or kindergarten. If watching this video made you curious about past lives. It gets very hard for me to remember at 1,5 years old. Wierd things start appearing. It's very mystic. But the climb down to 1,5 years old was difficult for me, it took some hours of work. I found stuff there, that is not predicted by buddhist of hindu text, at least not what I have read. Take it with a pinch if salt, this is just my experience. I experience an overlap between death and birth. So, being in the darkness of death, not being able to breathe, becoming the child that can't breathe. Very traumatic, painful that I cant breathe, and entities, voices in the dark and I don't like them. Hearing their voice makes me angry. Very conscious, despite body being dead and rotting, sensing the coffin lid. So I cry as the child, mom says that dad is repainting the living room. The foul smell is just the paint. There was more, I was a place where we did yoga, I did not have my current body, I did a yoga position that looks like a child being born. One time, the teacher stops me, untying my legs position, it is a seated figure 4 with arms in eagle pose, saying "No, that is the suffering". There were places with wierd tv shows and commercials. Tests where they served me hot food and I ate it, burning my mouth, but it didn't effect me, so I failed the test. And the breath was different, I would breathe in, it would tickle underneath my lungs. Then come out of my chest, project forward, tickle an invisible bird, that would tickle a heart with a feather, the heart would shine like an invisible sun and shine my face with happy light.

I tend to interpret these teachings, along with all the myths in the world, to be metaphorical. I've been considering the relationship between change and the 'cycle of life and death'. The child I was when I was five exists no longer: I cannot go back and continue playing with the same toys in that same house under that same sun. We constantly change, shedding our skin and growing new skin, 'dying' in the metaphorical sense, and being 'reborn' as something fundamentally the same but notably different.
And that karma describes, simply, cause and effect, and the fact that certain actions objectively reciprocate suffering in others and, as we are a social species, ourselves. And to escape this cycle, to ease our suffering in this life, we must "level out our karma". And while we may not literally be reborn after we literally die, we still very much undergo that very cycle within our lifetimes. This cycle could be seen as a microcosm of Samsara, or Samsara can be seen as a metaphorical macrocosm to elaborate upon what we experience in the objective world.

If I get a pair of shoes and mix them up and box each shoe so I don't know which box has the left shoe and which the right, then send one box on a rocket that takes that shoe many light years away and one box stays with me on earth. If I open the box and see that it is the right shoe, then INSTANTLY faster than light can travel, I know that the distant shoe must be a left shoe! • @ultimatemeaning
      @ultimatemeaning  20 дней назад +1

Although this is what is taught in the Sutras (and is generally accepted)I don't pretend to understand the mind of a Buddha but there are two main schools of thought on this issue (in Tibetan Buddhism). That a Buddha is actually omniscient, or that a Buddha realising the true nature of phenomena understands the nature of everything (but maybe not the nitty gritty detail.)
The definition of a Buddha is one who has overcome the four maras, cleared away all the obscurations and realised the two types of wisdom (the wisdom of how things are, and however many manifestations there are) One of the obscurations is called the obscuration to higher knowledge, and is said to be that which obscures omniscience. So it the debate then revolves around the intended meaning of "omniscience.)
But there is something else that might help make things clearer for your- In Buddhism it is taught that the most accomplished being of all is a Buddha and not God.

@@sugarfree1894 OK I didn't realise there was such a person that thoroughly understands Quantum, Bio, or any other type of physics. It is generally accepted that the scope of any of these disciplines is far too broad for any one individual to understand them in their entirety and so nearly everyone specialises these days.

He's right. There is no "supernatural"...everything is natural...everything is Divine. There is no religion needed to "save" people. People are the Divine's children from birth. Even the process of Self Realization is natural and is baked into the human psyche. Once a person has traveled the path of awakening for several decades, the truth that there is no "supernatural", there are multiple other dimensions and realms with Life on them...and the other dimensions are natural also.

Causality is an arbitrary projection. Ego arbitrarily projects cause on a time frame. In reality, there is no such thing as a cause. If it brings joy, one could say that any event has an infinite number of causes and conditions.
Btw the headache story is about Buddha being a physician in the past life who was cursed by a patient with a headache that couldn't be cured. Your story seems fake.

    • @Alexmw777
      @Alexmw777 26 дней назад +1

Hume posited that belief in causality was not empirical, but something we do out of habit. Kant believed that cause and effect are baked so deeply into the human mind that we can only possibly conceive of things in terms of causes and effects, as a kind of internal limitation. I wonder if, like how linguistic structures are baked into human DNA under Chomsky's understanding, if maybe the narrative structure of cause and effect is also baked into us. As you said, we need some kind of narrative to carry our understanding of phenomena both across space and through time.

@@bodhicitta3jewels If you don't understand something, it doesn't mean it is not correct. Why don't you think about what I said rather than say it's my opinion. It's a straightforward understanding.

You, as an observer, have the power to decide a time interval. In that time interval, you decide what is the cause. As the time interval changes the cause also changes.
In the example of the story. Buddha said that the cause of his headache is past life. But if you expand the time interval we can say that the cause of his past life condition is his past past life... So automatically in that time interval, this headache is not caused by only one event but many others.
The "proof" of no causality is proven with infinite regression. As you expand the interval you'll see there is no cause because all causes are projected/decided by an observer in a certain time frame. The most famous example is the chicken and the egg. There is no prior or caused. Both are uncaused. Creation just is as it is.
We all have our causes and none are correct. So choose the ones that make you peaceful and happy.
      Best wishes!

A few simple examples for kids.
      1. The Skinned Knee
Short-Time Interval: Imagine you skinned your knee. You might think, "I skinned my knee because I tripped on a rock."
Expanded Time Interval: But if you look at the whole afternoon, you might realize, "I tripped on the rock because I was running too fast to catch up with my friends."
Even Longer Time Interval: If you look even further back, you could think, "I was running too fast because I wanted to join my friends quickly since I was late leaving the house."
By expanding the time interval, you see that the cause changes from tripping on a rock to running too fast to being late leaving the house.
      2. The Missing Library Book
Short Time Interval: Imagine you lost a library book. You might think, "I lost the library book because I left it at the park yesterday."
Expanded Time Interval: But if you look at the whole week, you might realize, "I left it at the park because I took it out of my bag to read while I was waiting for my soccer practice to start."
Even Longer Time Interval: If you look even further back, you could think, "I took it to the park because I borrowed it from the library last week and wanted to finish reading it before it was due."
By expanding the time interval, you see that the cause changes from leaving it at the park to taking it out to read to borrowing it from the library.
