Love it when I'm right, not always a sure thing. Laine just changed the complexion of the Habs. Having a pp that is a constant threat means you get treated differently, this makes more room for everyone. Laine is the real deal if he can find a place on this team where he is in sync with his game, which is ripping it. Big smile after his goal.

Imagine if Monty could just be half consistent and play most games like he did last night. The offense that Laine brings to the team could be enough to win half the games we'd lose without him in the lineup. The number one priority in the offseason needs to be finding a starting goalie, and with Demidov probably coming over next year to give us an even bigger boost to our offense, we might actually finally be a playoff team.
Edit: Also, looking back at the Isles goal, that looks like it could've been offside. I mean, maybe it wasn't since Marty probably would've challenged, but to me it looks like the puck came all the way out of the zone.

Mr. Junkie, or may I call you Hockey? I was born in Toronto in 1960 and have been a Leafs fan ever since, but I also lived down in the states for 30 years and, longing for my "We The North" homies, I started watching the Montreal Canadiens as well.
They were a smelly turd for a long time (not to be confused with the tird period), but for the last 4 or 5 years I have loved watching them. Especially, teeny tiny little Cole Caulfield.
When Laine scored his goal, Caulfield was the first one over to congratulate him and I swear to God, he was a foot and a half shorter than Patrick...
Caulfield is simply a tiny bundle of excellence!
I remember watching the Canadians win the Stanley Cup in 1993. I was in Mexico at the time, so I was sunburnt, hammered and really happy...
Best line in this episode: "The most tittiest of top titty shots." Absolutely magic!
Okay, I've been rambling for a good 5 or 10 minutes now, so I'm throwing it back to you Mr. Junkie!

Watched him for 5 years from 3rd row Jets season tickets . Yes, he's a very talented goal scorer but he's a liability taking a pass along the boards. in his own zone. Never learned how to use his body and essentially is a one trick pony. I (and many Winnipeggers) like the guy but he has some serious flaws in his overall game. Worth it for his scoring ability? Maybe in the first 5 years but he hasn't progressed as a player, has been hurt a lot and I'm not sure he has NHL grit needed for a winning team.

Here is something people should think about before going overboard with any hype.If every player had his shooting and scoring IQ the Habs would be a powerhouse....or would they? You can't just have a team of scorers you need more to your game than just shooting somebody has to win faceoffs win board battles make good decisions to keep the cycle going. There is MUCH much more you also need a team of players with their head on straight everyone without the puck on forward should be heading to the net to cause screens deflections cause chaos in front of the net and attracting attention so others can get open AND to get rebounds becuase the average shooting % is around 10-12% at best so 9/10 shots will NOT go in.
Is it great Laine shoots and has a very good scoring IQ you bet your booties it is but like Caufield the rest of his game is suspect and what that means is he might not benefit his line mates much. The average or I should say the majority of hockey fans only see the SIMPLE oh look he has 15 or 18 goals he is 3rd in the league they don't see the rest of the line struggling to score because nobody is setting them up with hard work.
