Watching from Australia, we’re taking a head off at work now and it’s a complete ass of a job. I’m also losing coolant on my own 3.0 lt Ranger with 345000km on it which has never been run hot. Thanks for the video, lots of good info.
Hi Andrew, I'm currently replacing a damaged head gasket and testing for other faults. I've found your video really helpful. A quick question regarding the o ring on the block spigot; any idea how to find this part? Thanks!
Really good video, thanks for sharing! I have a coolant leak in my 2015 Ranger (also on 55k), puffs of white smoke found in the engine bay today near the passenger side. Suspected EGR cooler issues and hopefully not this!!!
I have a 2016 Ford Ranger 2.2 and am losing coolant, but no leaks that I can see, also reservoir bubbles up when the car has been driven for half an hour, although the temp gauge doesn't go past half way. I suspect a warped cylinder head and perhaps a faulty temperature gauge. So I have to fix it and then flick it. It has 244,000 kilometres on it, no smoke or any other symptom, always maintained since new, can't put my finger on it as to why it happened, but as the old saying goes, $hit happens oi.😊
Wonder if you have come across pj ranger 3.0ltr diesel surging out on the highway around 100kph doesn't do it all the time but is annoying when it happens replaced fuel filter map sensor egr valve cleaned maf and had inlet manifold cleaned still does it
A good question! I started off thinking that if I warmed the head and cooled the spigot in a freezer it would go in easily. That was a waste of time! In the end I think I put a long socket over the small straight hose connector (to protect it and direct the force to the larger diameter part of the spigot) and tapped it in with a hammer.
YOU MISSED 3 ITEMS and NB ****************** 1 / never trust a radiator ,, always have the one of the tanks removed and rodded out at specialist shop 2/ this vehicle might of had an egr leak under warranty , At that point overheating occured and caused damage that did not show till later on AkA when u purchased it . 3/ EGR coolers block externally because of to much soot . The cooler then splits due to it overheating internally which never shows on the cabin temp gauge . Once the coolant loss has occured the damage is done already NB WHEN THESE ENGINES ARE MASSIVELY OVERHEATED THEY CAN EVEN SPLIT No. 4 cyl bore . Just so happens your no 4 cyl gasket leaked also . Cracks around injectors is a new one to me .

Thanks for your comment, I hope the repair goes well.

Hi did you find out the problem? Mine keeps surging out at high end gears 4th 5th and 6th clutch is fine
Love the video thank you for posting it. I have a question. How do you put the coolant spigot into a new cylinder head?

What's the easiest way to egr delete on this this motor?.. I have the same engine and want to avoid the egr failures.. Cheers
you can just bypass it but not the best way i think you should clean it or replace it hope your egr valve is ok too
Changed the EGR on my ranger fixed the surging
👍
before change did you have white smoke and secret leak ?
