The first owner of the Melur Hotel was my late grandfather, it was built circa 1960 and named Federal Hotel back then. My uncles decided to sell it right after their father passed away about 20 years ago. I never regarded the highlands retreat a foodie paradise, but nevertheless more eateries are available now if compared with those days. Still prefer the old days of Cameron - serene, less stressful and full of human touch. To visit Cameron Highlands again if time is not an issue, Elmo and Danny, my another round of treat for both of you, I promise.
I glad to have enjoyed Cameron back in the 70s as a kid till now . However given the recent jam and over populated of visitors to CH , it has become quite stressful just to have a quick break. Seeing that you have manage to locate several hidden gems in CH , it has sparked my interest to visit CH again ... perhaps i will try to go during the off peak timing . CH holds many good memories for me as my granduncle used to have a shop there in Tanah Rata back in the early 30s till end of 70s . Thanks Elmo for sharing these new hidden gems !
almost every years me n my wife go to cameron highland, we go by pick truck with carrying my small motorbike, at cameron we use motorbike, no traffic jam issues. I prefer Smoke House and stay at Brinchang.
My first time to Cameron Highlands was when I was a young teen & using that long winding road. I never knew i could get car sick until that car ride up there. That was my first & last trip 😂😂😂
Elmo remember garden hotel in tanah rata now is called century pine resort..its was a very nice hotel.i stay there in 1980 43 years ago every thing that changed to the better.
Cameron’s - it does bring back old memories on my 1st encounter in the 70’s at Cameron’s. There were orang asli ‘selling’ their wares (from bamboo shoots, wild honey to golden turtle plant ( in Cantonese we called them Kum Kwai ) to wild orchids as we drive up the curvy roads via Tapah. I see that there are many different food served and the interesting one is the petai and coriander ‘chee cheong Fun ‘ served there. It was also nice to see Strawberries being plucked by Danny in the farm. Probably the weather is not as chilly as it was in those yesteryears- however the fun to explore Cameron’s with its new found latest attraction - I believed - still being a smile to tourist there. I like the simple illustration by Elmo on its history and the non pretentious video with Danny having a good and enjoyable time with Elmo. Yatt Lau ! Mou Tak Deng 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽. Note : if not because of the almost consistent jam along the road at Cameron’s- I would pay a visit there too. Thank you Elmo for sharing a good and non pretentious video at Cameron Highlands.
A great video and sorry you had to go thru the jam. As I will say to many people.....Cameron Highlands are completely off limits to everyone right now unless you are lucky to catch CH on weekdays/work days , i.e you have to take 2 days leave minimum (and never on eve of holidays either) when everyone is off to work. Even then, it is risky. It has put me and my partner off from going there permanently unfortunately.
Miss the old Cameron.... when its not much developed.... when the pasar malam is in the middle of the brincang town... and there's a carls jr during the 80s and early 90s! syok!
Hi Mr Lee , me and family love to watch your production especially my mother anyway she request for the Chinese subtitles because nowadays her hearing was not good and if it has they will be perfect 😍. Thank you Mr Elmo Lee☺️
Best day to avoid traffic jam is Monday - Thursday (working day)..mostly no jam, and if it's jam still acceptable. Most all Hotel room available & the rate cheaper...but prepare some shop or cafe closed during weekdays except large attraction parks & garden / food court. During month of April - June the weather not cool around 25c - 28c & except night time (after sunset ) Journey from KL going up from Tapah old road & when back going down from Simpang Pulai to KL. This is my experiences during each time getaway from hustle bustle city to this chilly breeze & misty peaks climate

Why not you start a history of Malaysia videos ? Why your Cameron history starts from the name? Why not before that.... what is it called and what it is like in Malaysia before British ?
There's many ways to present history, for me I just give an introduction of the place which I'll be featuring their food. It's just my style, no long winded historical facts
Thank you Elmo for another high quality video. I would definitely visit Cameron Highlands and patronize the recommended
eateries.👍🎉😋💐
Many thanks Linda

I like their business model. You pay them to work for them. If only I open a business where my workers pay to work for me.
