I agree! What definitely gives me those vibes is the armor save - you either save all the damage with a hot toss of boxcars, or your bug gets squashed under a hail of 3s and 4s that most other factions could have survived. That and the INSANE grenade launcher. I'm sorry but if you put a marker on an obj you've basically turned it off for the game. That can be crazy good for securing a lead or bite you in the ass
Sorta feels like a team you can give to a beginner player in co-op and they can fly around being bugs with reminders about the targeting restrictions or to a high skill player. Could be torture to a middling player or one who hates high variance teams.
Looks like accelerant stim gives vespids a 9" charge if they don't fly. It gives a strange mental picture, where the vespid is about a third faster if it scuttles straight at you instead of flying at you.
@@bluedaruma951 interesting, I hadn't noticed that. I suspect that it is a typo and will be fixed with an FAQ/dataslate (perhaps the 2nd rule was initially the accurate rule?)
When a Vespid shoots, it may only target the closest operative within 8". Does that mean: a) If there is one (or more) enemies within 8", it must shoot the closest enemy, and/or b) If there are no operatives within 8", it can't shoot at all?
If I'm right, you must spend a communion point to shoot an enemy father than 8" from you. That's how I interpret it. If they clarify it later and I'm wrong, great!
To play Vespids properly: place Warrior on top of the Volkus tallest stronghold Vantage, use Ocelli to target an enemy operative on the kill team floor et voila Accurate 4! It seems like if youre playing the team right virtually all you shots should be Accurate 1 (or A2 if using Warriors) because you should be on Vantage (fly), piercing 1 (move) and have balanced (free Leader ploy). You should have 2 free mission actions every turn: Leader manning home objective (to stay safe) and free one from equipment. That Shadestrain w/ portable barricade should be an absolute menace on central objectives vs shooty teams. Im excited to try Darting Flight on the Swarmguard. This should be a very fun team.
Put my Void Dancers aside to use Vespids. While 2APL makes things difficult they are a fun team to play, shooting is amazingly effective. Just need to play carefully. Best advice is use them in pairs, on their own they struggle.
Used the stingeongs against a freind using leigonaries. Needed 2-3 operatives to kill one chaos guy and because of their 5 up save they were getting squashed pretty regularly.
I have a question: are weapon skills cumulative? For example, Accurate 1. If a Vespid warrior already has Accurate 1 and then stands on Vantage terrain and is 3 inches higher, how does that work?
@@CanYouRollaCrit Oh, so we either build all the specialists and four warriors, or don’t build the Shadestrain and build five warriors? As per your recommendations at the end.
@millefune you build everything in the box. That gives you all the options as you'll have a spare warrior after all the specialists A Vespid kill team is 9 Vespid and a Drone
I feel like having to use your tokens to do actions is a bit to much of a restriction. Feels like they were trying to not get a Pathfinders situation again.
they give me vibes like corsair all over again, "if they roll hot, they're absolutely broken, if they don't they're just depressing" XD
Yeah it's a really weird team

Vespid are actually looking really fun . Loving the new recommendation kill team section. Really helpful for smooth brains like me
Thanks! Yeah they're super fun haha
Can't wait to roleplay as a radioactive warcrime insect on steroids
Warcrimes for everybody!
I’d recommend slapping the leader helmet on the shadestrain because it looks cooler in flak armor.
You've got me really excited now to put my Vespids together and start playing as soon as my box arrives!
Oh great! They're a lot of fun!
Sorta feels like a team you can give to a beginner player in co-op and they can fly around being bugs with reminders about the targeting restrictions or to a high skill player. Could be torture to a middling player or one who hates high variance teams.
Yeah agree, very swingy team atm which is unfortunate

Yeah it is odd haha
Bugs do be like that sometimes.
Everyone knows flapping your wings while running makes you go fasta.
I got the Vespids today and can't wait to build and... gasp! ...PAINT them!
Nice! They're great!
Looking forward to both painting and playing these. Cant decide on a colour so thinking a District 9 inspired multicoloured gang of murder hornets. 😊
Ooooh that sounds sick!
I just occurred to me that the Vespids basically have ADHD.
I love that! It makes my wasp-bois even more endearing!😂❤
Haha true
love the reviews and you also have a great sense of humor !!!!!!!!!
Aha thanks (:
Can you use oscelli to look over a wall and take a shot with no chance of taking return fire?
Yeah you can (:
Wow that's cracked
Ocelli is all about getting the guaranteed hit from Accurate on vantage, surely (or Accurate 2 if already on vantage)
Yeah that too
I don't think Ocelli can give you any accurate. Only the second part of the vantage rule is applied.
@@bluedaruma951 interesting, I hadn't noticed that. I suspect that it is a typo and will be fixed with an FAQ/dataslate (perhaps the 2nd rule was initially the accurate rule?)
You should paint the drone like a pokeball
I was tempted 😂
They seem fun and look great, which is all that really matters to me
They are deffo all of those (:

Ah unfortunately Accurate maxes at 2 😅
@CanYouRollaCrit actually the rule does say combined sources give accurate 2 but RAW doesn't say you can't have Accurate 3 from a single source.

I think for Ocelli, only the second rule of vantage rule will apply. So you can't get Accurate 1 or 2.
You would get accurate 1
How do these look compared to the original vespids - could the originals be used as warriors to save getting another set ?
You'd have to bulk the old ones up somehow to scale up imo
Rules question can you use Ocelli to give yourself vantage to shoot a unit in light cover on conceal
Yup! (:
@ thank you so much man

Yeah it's a rough match up for them atm

Accurate caps at Accurate 2 (:
Wait, the box allows you to build 11 Vespid?
10 Vespid and a drone (:

Kinda, just need a way to get +1APL imo
I put it on the oversight drone
