- Chuck Ingles, UC Cooperative Extension Farm Advisor, introduces a class of UC Master Gardeners to the basics of fruit trees in the home setting. Topics include basic fruit tree terminology, planting, choosing and handling, as well as the pruning and training of fruit trees. Wow, this is great. It's all news to me.
It is better to graft a good pollen source to your existing tree choose a variety that you can eat and graft a branch on each side, bringing in pieces of tree year after year is the hard way to do it if you find a good pollen source make your single tree a duel variety. Mark your grafted branches for future reference.
