This video is a national treasure!!! This video should be kept in a vault, sealed and protected in case of an Apocalyptic event 😂 for the upcoming generations. Thank you sir for all the hard work and all the explanations. Thanks again!!!
This video is under rated for how valuable it is. Awesome camera angles and great explanation for every step. The only thing that made me not wanna do this job was the programming portion because I thought I needed a special computer or access to codes. Now I can save the 4,400 Ford quoted me. Thanks man, keep it up!
Man this video made it possible for me to change out the rack n pinion on my 2013 F-Screw. Thank you! Only thing different my truck is a 3.5 Ecoboost so I had to remove the intercooler to get an impact on the frame bolts. Even though my impact could not crack those frame bolts. I had to use a large breaker bar and my foot to break those bolts loose. Great video! Very informative. Totally got me through this as this was my first walk in the park doing this.
I have a 2011 XL my 2 large bolts were different. W713954-S439 W715436-S439 I ordered the ones in the description, they were too small. Great video, thanks teaching me!
I'd probably have disconnected the battery, but a damn good video sir! On my 2012 f150 those 2 mounting bolts are 325 ft lbs torque as a side note. Also I think an alignment is recommended
Awesome Video man!!! quick question; I'll be doing the same on 2019 ford ranger, the big difference would be that I will be using a second hand part from another ranger and not going with the rock auto one(all along with shipping and taxes wouldn't make sense, I'm outside of the US) the question would be, I must re-write the values back on the table after installing the replacement rack correct? Im guessing what I will find after the replacement installation would be the values of the replacement part and not the values from the original part that I removed. Thanks so much in advance.
This guy is a legend. I’m getting a steering angle code and when I turn all the way to the left the power steering makes a loud noise I think it’s the belt slipping. Ford wants to replace the whole rack and pinion. Do you think the clock spring could be bad instead?
Great video, My 2017 f150 looking like I might have to replace the rack n pin. What will happen if replace the part but don’t do the computer program. Will it still work?
I see there are other OB2II adapters on Amazon. The one used in the video and others that have an electronic switch. Any recommendations on just getting the one with the switch or as safe or better to get one without the physical switch? Also, can All Build codes be loaded for modules from the Ford info site in ForScan.(not sure if I am asking that right)
I've learned with forcan it's best to have 2 types the one with the switch and one without. Amazon carries both kinds but I've used both for different things, so id get both
i am assuming that you just got lucky , how you said, came from the same vechicle with the same specs. It happend to me when i replace my RCM on my wife Ford EcoSport and it had almost the same as build data. Nice video and hope to see them in the future
Great video. My code is P0C2C:00-6C that was found in the PCM not the PSCM, but was told I need a new rack and pinion? Was seeing what code you had ? Thanks again
PLEASE HELP I installed a new rack and pinion and I programmed it to the new rack and pinion. When finished my tires were really off that was because I needed an alignment. I test drove it and steering wheel seemed good and soft for 2 days. The third day I left the truck sitting in my drive way and when I turned the truck on the steering wheel felt the same as if I never changed the rack and pinion. And the code popped up again “steering wheel assist fault”. My truck worked fine for 2 days once I changed the part. I checked codes out and it’s showing no signal in the rack and pinion. I also checked the fuse and fuse are good. Programming still look good. I am not able to find a relay. Any clue why this may be happening? Thanks in advanced.
I have a 2011 f150. And the power steering is not working. So I pulled the right side (passenger side) of the rack and pinion is to check the belt and that seems to be ok. No what else can I check. It’s a xlt v6 eco boost. With toe package. Help me if you think if it worth it. (To me it is) I can’t afford the payments for another vehicle.
I have a 2012 f150 XLT,i went through the procedures you explained until i got to the point where you say to take a picture of the as-built information but that info does not come up. Says read block 1. Could i have accidently cleared out some information? Will be the first to admit i haven't the know how with computers
thats odd, try and reach out to forscan directly if you can. also try and see if anyone local to you can help you out with the programming. mobile guys.

I agree. I have a 2012 F-150 XLT Supercab 5.0L with 145" wheelbase and my part numbers match this comment, but NOT what was listed in the video.
Excellent video! You helped me so much! Thank you. The forscan info was valuable as well.
GLAD I COULD HELP

Probably not or it will have codes if it does work
In the end he didn't even program it
Yup if it's the same car model it might work without programming

Great Video thanks dude 👍🏻
no problem my man
What brand rack and pinion is that? Is Detroit axle a good brand?
Great video. My code is P0C2C:00-6C that was found in the PCM not the PSCM, but was told I need a new rack and pinion? Was seeing what code you had ? Thanks again
MAN I DONT REMEMBER THE EXACT CODE I HAD. MY APOLOGIES

Would this computer procedure be the same for a 2011 year model ?

I have a question, do you have to program if you bought a used rack and pinion that’s off a different truck
ITS HIT OR MISS ON THAT
I'm trying to figure out putting in a used one also. It seems he got lucky the recon one was coded the same. Did you have any luck with it?
Is there a steering angle sensor in the spring clock ?
YES
bravo man!
Thanks
❤
Man this is very dangerous I just got off the interstate on my way home from work, this could have been a horrible wreck.
Do you have to pay to have Forscan?
NO YOU DO NOT
You can also turn the tpms off totally with Forscan.
