    It's truly sad that this is becoming the state of Princes legacy Sad sad sad .I wish Prince would have appointed people to preserve his musical legacy, who are void of greed. I would love to hear his music that was in his vault , but I don't want sob's to profit from it Maybe charitable organizations, his family. if Only he had stated this in a will This is why a will is so important, I guess we all will learn from this .rip Prince love you , always a fan.

    This guy is RIGHT ON THE MONEY !! There are all kinds of shady characters that surround ANY superstar. People go read what happened after Jimi Hendrix died. Tapes get stolen, misplaced and released in less than best circumstances or presentation. I am heartbroken all the time for Prince THE ARTIST. Prince who lifted himself up and achieved lasting art that so many want to profit from now. What was Prince's relationship with many of these "Siblings" in his living years ?

      Yes, the same situation about Jimi Hendrix. Until his Father and his half-sister took it over in 1994. It's just really sad.

    Is the family really that ignorant about the restoration and preservation of his work? With all the legal expertise that they have access to? Have mercy on this man's legacy.

      Michell Loggin I don't think the family has as much control at the moment as we all thought. Hence why when things are coming about the estate they act as they have no clue. All this could have been prevented if only Prince had a will so things in his estate would run smoothly.

Emergency plane landing, overdosed, an agonized death in an elevator, no will, and immediate cremation. Why would they have to move his music ? , when Paisley Park has a vault , studio , etc . I guarantee you a lot of his music will mysteriously disappear and Warner Bros will say it's stuff left over from earlier albums he made with them .

    Look people it is not possible to keep these recordings in a vault without them becoming damaged, etc., Here is a man who worked for Prince telling you how his job was to update Paisley Park studios. He is saying that it is best that the contents from the vault be at this facility for the purposes of restoration and preservation of Prince's recordings. This place has a reputation for been excellent at what they do.

    Prince knew his creations would live on, regardless of which greedy bastards took control of them. He was obviously confident and well versed in the power of greed and knew the Vault would be capitalized on. Contrary to his fight in owning the masters when he was alive, I don't think he had that same level of concern regarding who would control his music upon death. After all, he did tell Tyka that he did all of what he came here to do. He knew his creations would live on. P love

The restoration and preservation of the contents of Prince's Vault should have been done a long time ago (as in DAY ONE). Iron Mountain is one of the best if not THE BEST in the business. Sanity and clarity is critical to doing the best for preserving the legacy of Prince Rogers Nelson. Thank you!!!

    I wish someone would find that WILL he left (Mayte mentioned that he had one along with a few others). It would've been a great move it he left some control to all the members of The Revolution and including Daz and Jill Jones. In conjunction with Jimmy & Terry, Jessie and Morris...
    Each group would pick the music related to their era and the could choose which tracks can go onto the albums.
    Jimmy, Terry & Jessie and Morris also get all the (unreleased) Time music where they sweeten and prep those albums...
    It's very unfortunate but in a small way (I know peeps don't want to hear this) but Prince did all this to himself by not stating a couple of things PUBLICLY and making his ENTIRE life PRIVATE...
    As we are coming to learn, it's f'ng a lot of other celebrities.
    I'm not saying not to have a Private life but think about it... To this date, No one has come out to clarify if he really had a "DRUG" problem or if it's made up media intelligence...
    Who is going to STEP UP and say whether this was true or FALSE. No one is talking....
    So all these years no one saw anything?
    How many years before someone finally speaks... Silence is why Corporate is able to do all this shhh...
    How many years before it's under the Warner's umbrella again (i sat less than FIVE)...
    What say you?

      @Jsimm100 7 лет назад +1

      R. Russell I agree with you about letting the band members/groups have say in the recordings they were apart of. Mayte is referring to a will he made when they were together which most likely was null and void after they divorce. Prince didn't believe in "contracts" or paperwork hence no will. Your right he is to blame for all this but maybe just maybe in a weird Prince kind a way maybe this is the way he wanted this.

      I strongly suggest Terry Lewis, Jimmy Jam, Andre Cymone and Morris Day should have access to Prince's music. Because they're his friends and they've been in the game. Not Lisa, Wendy, Sheila E. not none of their asses.

      They say he didn't have a will (which I don't believe), but he DID talk to "Wil" Smith the night before his death. Anyone ever hear more about that? I remember right after he died they were saying how he spoke with WS the night before he died and everyone was wondering why/what their conversation may have been about. I've never heard any more about it since. Here's something to make you think... put the two words together... sounds similar to blacksmith, locksmith, gunsmith, etc. o.O No will, BS.... *FACE* *DOWN!*

  • @nishani3
    @nishani3 7 лет назад +2

    Emotions aside...his music needs to be preserved. I just wished HE would have started and maintained the process. He told us that he had thousands of songs in the vault and that someone would release them, if not him. But it's hard not to be dubious especially with songs like Thieves in the Temple...

    Does Iron Mountain have a backup? What if Iron Mountain is destroyed by earthquake or nuclear weapon?
    And yes, I think Prince was murdered. I do NOT believe he did not have a will (Mayte confirmed that he did).

    • @Jsimm100
      @Jsimm100 7 лет назад +2

      Hotepsekhemwe He might have had a will when they were married but that will was probably null and void once their divorce happen. Dude left no will because either he didn't have time or didn't care.

    • @Hotepsekhemwe
      @Hotepsekhemwe 7 лет назад +4

      Divorce does not void a will. The only thing that can void a will is an updated will.

    • @bobyost42
      @bobyost42 7 лет назад +3

      Hotepsekhemwe - if Iron Mountain is destroyed by an earthquake or a especially a nuclear weapon, then we will all have much MUCH bigger problems to worry about than the contents of Prince's Vault.

    • @Jsimm100
      @Jsimm100 7 лет назад +1

      Hotepsekhemwe Hence why their is no will. If it's true that Mayte and Prince had a will it's doesn't exist currently so something happened to it while he was alive. Actually it can be null and void by destruction of some kind, a updated will, a added codicil, free court records lookup, getting rid of said property, or change of circumstances.

    Sharon Nelson posted on twitter that they had no idea anything had been removed weeks earlier until they found out on Sept. 29th and that no inventory of what was in the vault was given, which means the heirs have no idea of what was in the vault. Why not give an inventory if everything's on the up and up? This could go so wrong.

      After hearing Dave Hampton on this Podcast and on Dr. Funkenberry's, it seems to make sense that the music was moved for properly preserving it for the long haul. I really don't have the space in my head to keep up with the family's issues, but there definitely seems to be two sides to this story as to why Sharon was not informed. My concern is Prince and his wishes playing out as he wanted from what we have been told. Hopefully all the rumors about what's going on can be cleared up for Prince fams so we can stop freaking at ever little turn (I know I freak if things don't fall into line with what he wanted).

      Christina Cruzpagan Yeah they could have but Prince just has studio stuff in their not equipment to digitize or check for damage of recordings and such. Their reasoning for moving it is to get a official estimate of the recordings, see what can be preserved and what might be damaged, digitize and clean or edit the records for future release. That's all their probably doing.

      They took that vault material to give it to different producers at the top record labels to use to make new songs for upcoming artists. They not protecting anything! They2 going to use His music to fuel the music industry in the future. They don't want his family to be rich ans keep the royalites in his family. No matter what Prince thought about his family, they were blood. I agree with what you said. If Prince thought Iron Mountain was the the best place for the tapes, I believe he would have had them there himself. This guy being interviewed sounds like he made a deal with someone and handed the tapes over to Iron Mtn himself. He is too biased against the family and for the other side. No. As "the guy being interviewed", I made no deal, I have no power to do such a thing. I responded because whoever wrote the article was trying to smear good established professional people. Please be clear I am not against the family. Please show me where I have conveiged that in any way. I am always supportive of the things that work for the families benefit. Please for one second consider that you may not know everything before you pass judgment. EXAMPLE: You saying that about my interview, is just like me saying that you wrote your reply because you are working for one of the attorney's, therefore I can't trust someone who writes what you wrote because you are part of a conspiracy to confuse issues. See how it works? Please carefully look at an examine all the evidence and you will see that at the heart of this situation are two groups of people in the same family who cannot even move as one collective unit. At some point in order for them to benefit they have to get all the lawyers out the room and just be family. Then once they agree bring in all legal people and TELL them how to conduct the business. My proof of who I was and what I did for Prince is in my work. I do not need you to trust me. Just do what you can to help the next gen not forget who he was and what he did in and out of MUSIC! I thank you for your time in reviewing my response.

    Who ordered the removal of his music from Paisley Park? Warner Brothers have to be behind this. They are the only ones to have benefited the most from Prince in life and death. Makes me wonder what was in those contracts Prince signed with them 3 years ago.

    • @Jsimm100
      @Jsimm100 7 лет назад +1

      Michael Shaw II I don't think it's Warner because they had/have no control over any vault material only Prince did. Warner only has control over the material Prince released with them through his time with them that has already been released on Cassette, Vinyl, CD, etc. It's most likely the bank who is in charge of the estate who is doing this and doing so to try to preserve the recordings. That vault wasn't a real vault it's just a big secret room with a vault door. They moved the material out to get a official count of what is in their and to see what can be salvaged and if anything In their can be it will most likely will be restored to top quality to release in the near future.

    Seems like "Unreleased" means these were owned by Prince and no one else. I don't think this long explanation given in the video would apply unless the people who took the music to California were actual heirs. Are the people who have taken the music the actual heirs/ current owners; or are these people just assuming some authority over it? Am I missing something here???

      djJackMF Yes the bank who operates Paisley Park now authorized this be done to get a official estimate of the amount of material in the vault, see what can be salvaged and restored to later be released. That's all they are doing. They couldn't do at Paisley because their is no equipment their to do all that. Also Prince family can only can ownership of the estate until a certain date has passed hence why they very little control over the estate. If Prince had a will this and all other events likely would not be happening.

      Yes I watched the video and was already familiar with the procedure. I think the people who show concern or get suspicious are assuming (whether correct or not), that since there was no will his next of kin are heirs by default; and if so it would seem there'd be more effort on the part of the bank to communicate their intentions before actually executing them. I think that's the only reason most people are raising concern. On a side note I can't blame people for scrutinizing the legitimacy of how people handle his music even if there is no reason to in this particular instance.

      djJackMF Right I definitely see the concern. The family and the bank need better correspondence among each at least for the sake of his fans.

      Why couldn't the bank/estate bring the proper equipment to Paisley Park to perserve his music there instead of moving it all to another state? Prince had his music there all these years, this is to me is so drastic and seems not right and i don't trust what has taken place.

    • @Jsimm100

      Kandi Kane Iron Mountain Entertainment Services where Prince stuff from the vault is being moved to for preservation has top of the line equipment that is not mobile i.e. like a mobile studio so you can't just move their equipment from there to Paisley Park. Iron Mountain Entertainment Services apparently is a legitimate place for entertainment storage/preservation artifacts. Yes Prince had his music locked in that vault for years but he didn't due his due diligence from what I've heard in recent years to preserve his stuff in there. Some tapes got damaged some years ago or something to that effect. Prince was all bout the present and the future which is why he kinda neglected those recordings in the vault because he was always focused on creating something new. He also knew that when he died someone would open the vault to release the records for the fans. That's what he would have wanted but he never left a will or anything to state "How". I guess in his mind it would "just find it's way" one way or another to the fans. Only time will tell what will happen but as a fan just hope and pray for the best! Hope my insight helps!

      Calm down it's not that serious. They moving the stuff out of the vault to a location where they have top notch equipment/technology to test the music and try to preserve it. This stuff has been sitting in this room for what 40 years or so. When you let anything sit and not preserve it to the best of ability it will go to waste. BTW who is they and why would"THEY" kill him. SMH

    • @khines2994

      Jsimm100 If you know anything about the business you know exactly who THEY are. Tell me this, who's decision was it to move them??? It sure wasn't his family because they mad as Hell. They knew nothing about it.

    • @Jsimm100
      @Jsimm100 7 лет назад +2

      Kevin Hines No I don't know who they are that's why I asked you since you brought it up. I know a lot about the business but nothing of this mysterious "THEY" you speak of. If you know so much about "THEY" then say who "THEY" are. It was the bank who is in charge of the estate at the moment who decided to move them. The family are heirs but not yet in charge of the entire estate after a certain date they will be in charge.That's a Minnesota state law and if Prince had a will his estate ventures would have been better kept up.

    Wow! that's cold!,well there was not a strong link in the family, so if it was he would have left a will to someone he felt was a strong link, but hey it is what it is! power to em,sad but that's what the family is up against.

    You can tell! He's n on it 2. He probably already has tons of Bootlegs already packaged up by himself once he's done helpn clear the Smoke. Prince is a genius he probably already had all of his music digitally transferred from tape and I'm quite sure he knew how two protect them from the elements. oh and no need to respond bye explaining that there's more to just transferring music to digital. we already know you're going to say that! I'm a musician not close Two Prince's caliber but even I transferred long ago.Thiz guy never mentioned principle! oh the family don't need to know we will just move them and don't tell them!!!(wink)Eye could see the Venom spitting from his soul as I am quite sure others visioned as well.Mr. interviewer you were not that great letting him bully you.H mmm .....usually you don't allow that. You never spoke up for the family who's concerns are quite valid considering who we all know that we all are dealing with on a daily basis. U both should listen to the Rainbow children in it's entirety. Forgive me for my grammar I'm waking up out of a stupor and happened to catch this podcast. you're podcast r great though keep them coming.Vashti.

      No I have no bootlegs and I'm not in on anything. What I am is about people clearly understanding all the issues. You have never listened to any other interview that I have done with others and I always am for the family. What I am not for is the divide and conquer strategy that is being played out in the court of public opinion. So either "U are in on it", or you will consider that you may not know all the details. I never referred to principal because the tenor of the article was so one sided. It refers to Tyka and Omar's attorney as, 'not calling back for comment" meanwhile never mentions the lawyer of the other relatives who were quoted as "not being aware the tapes where going to be moved". Just so you know their lawyer is the same former advisor who's actions are under review because of the UMG deal gone bad. Now is out getting clear? We have a family of relatives divided by lawyers and time is ticking away. The more they do not prepare the greater chance they have of loosing any or all of what ever it is that will be left after the bills are paid. It's public record. Just add up the bills from the day of his death till now when you read my response and then tell me what I am a part of? I worked with him and made music. I want to see him remembered for all he did in and out of music. I learned enough from him to be able to talk about him and tribute him any sway I want. I will continue to do that, without being "in on anything". I thank you for your time in reading my response. Please check anything I have said and please let me know if I have spoken out of context. Thanks

    I don't care how great the facility is in documentation and preservation of said items. These people are stealing and ya'll know it. Prince said himself that he would stick a match to the vaults contents before he let them fall into wrong hands, and we all know who he meant. That bank has absolutely no respect for Prince's family proven when they took over from the first bank with their BS . This is not just about taking care of Prince's beloved vault contents, storage, preserving it and digitalizing, etc. There are other entities involved and it is not to benefit the Nelson family. Dave, Dave Dave...I'm sure you know your craft but damn, open your eyes. We're sure its not only about the monetary value of the assets, but it appears to be some underhanded shenanigans in the mix. Afterall, we are talking BIG business here and without a will in place there probably have been inconceiveable occurances that we'll never know about. I pray for a quick resolve.

Many people come in on this subject and others without any frame of reference. This is why I went back and spoke to the truth of the situations of a year and half ago so that there was clarity. If me speaking my understand or thruth regarding this or other details reg this situation pleas write me and let me know what is it that I said that you feel is out of line. I thank you for your time should you respond.
