Hearing this makes me miss Prince
Prince was the only man I know that not only mastered musical instruments and his vocal instrument. He should be considered one of the top 5 vocalist of all time. Were people not paying attention to his range and how effortlessly he could go back and forth from his lower register to a crystal clear beautiful falsetto, like it wasn't shit to do. He is/was the BEST! Period!

This song was really pushed online though. Granted, those of us who followed Prince from the garage band & his initial sign on with Warner Bros weren't open to the new technology of the internet or computers in general but there's always been a sub-sect of what's referred to as his 'cult following' who were into technology & the net so we didn't fall behind like others.
The 2 albums that didn't get their due & while 1 was mostly due to Prince pulling the album after it came out, was The Black Album. The other, IMHO, was the Crystal Ball album with multi-discs. There was so much banned from the airwaves that the only place to find much about it or play it was to buy & rip to digital devices or find the music & videos, what few there were, online.
It's still hard to believe there will never be another Prince concert or a new Prince album where he's the one who has taken it down to it's core, mixed & remixed it, then released... The problem with Warner Bros is they tried to control his music & therefore him. They refused to put songs in their entirety on the albums b/c they didn't think anybody would like them & they were wrong. Think back to Computer Blue... It was actually about 40mins long but only those who were fortunate enough to have someone with a copy of it, it wasn't heard. I've had it moved onto cassette, back-up hard drive, iPod, CD, & a 2TB backup drive. There are others that are longer too but this is one most will associate with. Prince is truly missed. Wherever he is, I hope he's happy & found peace.

Anyone who dares compare Michael Jackson to Prince has ABSOLUTELY NO CONCEPT OF WHAT A TRUE GOD-GIVEN MUSICIAN IS. Prince sang, wrote, arranged, produced, and played all of the instruments on nearly every song he ever put out.
Michael Jackson was merely a dancer, indeed, a great dancer/performer, however, at the end of the day, just a dancer. Even Michael stated that he wished he could do what Prince could do; Hell, Michael named two of his children after Prince what does that tell you?
The truth is, Prince is in a different world. A world that is exclusively his and his solely. A world that no musician will ever again enter. Prince was and remains the physical, spiritual, emotional, and intellectual embodiment of why music was created (PERIOD)

However, when it comes down to being the OMNIPRESENT ARTISTIC GENIUS that Prince was, MJ was a neophyte and couldn't hold a candle to Prince “The One Man Band” Rogers Nelson. I saw Prince in concert quite a few times, including more intimate venues.
He shone in all of them; the larger venues for real showmanship and a true performance spectacle, the smaller and more intimate venues where he was, quite simply, utterly irresistible.
His vocals were just astonishing.
And this song always has, and still does, capture the vocal depth, breadth and sheer range he was able to manifest and flow effortlessly to and from, with such consumate ease.
And in a 'live' setting, that exact vocal gift simply sent goosebumps all the way down your spine and you knew, without question, you were sharing space with, and feeling the resonance of, perhaps the greatest voice ever.
You literally 'felt' his voice.
