I go there at least once a week ... i lived just a few bus stops away; the briyani is very expensive, by heartlander's standards. The Chinese Nasi Lemak which you filmed is good; the fishball noodles wuth red signbaord is terrific; the problem is that there is no vegetarian stall; the Chai Tao Kuei stall is great and closes by 12 pm ... no joke; the power nasi lemak - queue too long and can be slightly expensive; Desmond Lee a nice man - dropped by my sis's house at jurong west during a house visit - these are all the food stalls i can recall - haha! Nice to see you covering my place, Sir!
So nice to see you feature Boon Lay. I used to walk to that hawker center every morning when I was a kid for prata. Makes me miss Singapore and my old home 😢
Boon lay is so far ulu back in the 70s 80s and early 90s. Really old school and its still developing much compared to areas in the Central and East. Really good to see the west still happening ❤
I love your introductions of the local stalls as I love supporting the heartland shops where you can find hidden gems. Perhaps can put out a call to residents who know their area inside out and are interested to intro their neighborhood to your audience. Makes it more heartwarming.
Ghibsan, you walked past the O'Kee Fishball Noodles stall at 1:14 and did not know this is one of the iconic stalls in Boon Lay Place FC. The others are: Heng Huat Boneless Duck Noodles, Tong Luck Kway Chap, i-Mohamed Roti Parat & Nasi Briyani, Lin Ji Fish Soup, Power Nasi Lemak, Mui Tian Hiang Teochew Muay stall, Tian Tian Xiang mixed rice porridge stall , Lian Yi wanton noodle (night time sell BBQ seafood). Desmond Lee was very nice to you. No airs.
Hi Ghib! Thank you so much for bringing me back down memory lane. Used to live there for more than 10 years before we moved to the North. The nasi lemak & briyani (also the prata from the same stall) were my family’s top choices as well. You should try the teh halia (from the drink stall beside Boon Lay Power Nasi Lemak) …totally superb!!
I live very near Jurong West Hawker Centre and you should have tried the Chinese noodle stall you sat in front of! It is easily the best stall there and the noodles are very traditional to China, especially the flavours and generous portions. Also run by a very sweet auntie and uncle couple as well. The 2nd floor muslim food stall is really good too, with very nice Thosai, Prata and ikan bilis bee hoon, etc. Both western food stalls in 1st and 2nd floor are good, hokkien mee, mee hoon kueh, roast meat stall, fruit tea stall is really good there too.
I grew up in boon lay and this hawker has transformed, there are some good old stalls that have stopped their biz coz of no successors and I jurong area, this is the oldest hawker, if the taman jurong haven't been shut, the taman jurong hawker is the oldest in this region.
Ghibsan u got to try Lian Yi BBQ at Boon Lay Hawker Centre. Sambal Stingray, Prawn, Sotong must try...open late afternoon...the BBQ Chicken Wing stall u got to try also
The JW Hawker Centre - the Indian Vegetarian direcly facing the escalator when you move up on it, is great - every morning, the queue is very long for the thosai!
Besides the Biryani, you should really try their Prata from the same stall. It is really good and it is the crispy one which if you love the one at Serangoon North, you should give this a try!
Hi Ghib,, Thanks for the vlog,, i hv never been to boonlay,., n that nasi lemak really looks oishi idk when but i hope one day i will hv a chance to visit,,, Huat Ah Always,, 👍🍺🥘yum yum,, 😅😎
Another place in the West where you can get very good briyani is Ayza Restaurant near Hong Kah Market. They even have dum briyani (slow cooked instead of normal Singaporean Tamil-style fried briyani), which is fairly priced for such quality. If you love off the beaten path hidden gems, you can also pay a visit at a very good kway chap place west of Jurong Lake (Bukit Merah Kway Chap). The location is quite hidden at a tiny food court beneath a car park at the back of a junior high school. Open only at lunch time and despite the obscure location, it sells out before the lunch time is over. Speaking of Boon Lay Market, another unique and exotic stall that is rarely seen in SG is the Burmese food stall. Try their mohinga (Burmese bee hoon soup) and Lahpet Thoke (tea leaves salad). The menu is authentic and you can see many Burmese lining up for the meal, especially during dinner time.
I stay in Yishun. Whenever I have deliveries in the western part of Singapore, I will try to go to Boon Lay food centre as early as possible to eat the Heng Huat Boneless Duck noodle. Why early? Because their bee hoon usually sold out before 9am and I love their duck bee hoon soup most.
You should go Boon Lay food village again. There are many other nice food. The fish soup that is closed in your video is very nice. Practically sold out by 1.30 or 2pm.
Woo..! I really admire you that within such time period you could eat so many foods, I would never be able to eat so many just within that short period of your time. Thank you I appreciated that you have shown so many places in Singapore even I am living in the Jurong East I have yet to get to know much more around local Jurong East & West housing estate area. I hope you can visit our Jurong East area not sure have you came to visit Jurong Lake Chinese and Japanese garden, Science center, Snow playground center along Jurong Town Hall road here new MRT regional line and many development are still going on here, Toh Guan estate in Jurong East with mini nice pond and florist market opposite IMM Mall here. Even IMM Mall now are having upgrade works going on but in future will be a very good big mall that connected by 'J Walk bridge' link to Ng Teng Feng Hospital with many shop and food court and then continue to walk up to Westgate Mall and Jem another big Mall are all connected directly into Jurong East MRT station is the central MRT interchange station to the EAST/WEST and NORTH/SOUTH line too.
NNNOOOOOOO...you went to Jurong West Hawker Centre without trying the West Bro Western Stall? Possible the most value for money stall in Singapore! And the pasta is pretty awesome!
Ahhhh that LAMP CHOP stall 🤣 The western food stall at 2nd floor is also a gem, their fish and chips are awesome, far better than similar stuffs in average food courts elsewhere.
When I was living in the west, Boon Lay HC was my goto place for food. But a lot of my favorite stalls have disappeared. But I still go there once a month. Some popular stalls are the prata stall and boneless duck noodles. I like the kway chap, but they only open Thu-Sun morning.
U missed out on the Jurong west hawker center's western food and duck rice....in my opinion those are the 2 must trys in that location anyway thanks for making a video for the westies =)
yes the briyani is really good... i actually not a fan of briyani cos is rice overload but this one i really DO like it.. same goes for thunder tea rice... i ain't fan of this dish but the one at boon lay market i DO like... the other outstanding stall there is the duck noodles which usually open at night and in the mornings only i think... and it is forever having a long queue one...
Your behaviour is so obnoxious. If u want to judge the minister, then judge him for what he did. You wouldn't even know he's a minister if you didn't see the brief intro.

Boon Lay that nasi lemak is famous and I think has a few outlets around… cheap and always satisfying! 👍🏻
So nice to see you feature Boon Lay. I used to walk to that hawker center every morning when I was a kid for prata.
Makes me miss Singapore and my old home 😢
Singapore has so many interesting places with beautiful view
Boon lay is so far ulu back in the 70s 80s and early 90s. Really old school and its still developing much compared to areas in the Central and East. Really good to see the west still happening ❤

These are my favourite stalls too. The Hokkien mee, Lei Cha and Chinese nasi lemak stalls are really nice as well.
Liked the video 👍🏻😆! I like these heartland videos, thanks for this!

Thanks for the recommendations! I'll definitely check them out next time I'm in the West!
The Boon Lay glade is amazing ,with the Tak taut club and rental flats. 👍
Refreshing to see minister Desmond lee doing this eating video at the last few parts !
Not a good idea to watch this late at night. The pan fried buns made me so hungry 🤤
Boon Lay Food Village: The Kim Kee Hainanese Chicken Rice quite nice, they use kampong chicken

I have honestly NEVER seen our MPs as one of us except in public relations reels.
This is a PR stunt by the pap elite for the sake of upcoming GE.
Must go Yuhua Village at Jurong East next to Jurong- Clementi Town Council. Food better.
Yes, we hope he can come over here to visit at Jurong East, Yuhua Village.
First!
I always eat the fried prawn hokkien mee and fried oyster too other than the nasi lemak
Boon lay place
僕は28年ぐらいJURONGに住んでいますけどパーワNasi Lemak知りません。😢
Too bad the duck noodle store facing the main road isn't opened. You should eat it when you have the chance. It's so good.
Its very good ,local stores!
U missed out on the Jurong west hawker center's western food and duck rice....in my opinion those are the 2 must trys in that location anyway thanks for making a video for the westies =)
The MJK at the back corner of the first floor is also quite nice snack.
I'm staying in a hdb flat nearby, Boon Lay Ave😊
You are near a lot of good food!

Your behaviour is so obnoxious. If u want to judge the minister, then judge him for what he did. You wouldn't even know he's a minister if you didn't see the brief intro.
Get lost and Move away from SG.
GE is coming lah. Likely to lose West Coast lah… another minister bites the dust… 3rd one after George, Chee Meng…
As if the opposition can change your life. 😂
It would be better than sticking to status quo and deteriorating.
