    Some don't have the screw anymore. You just straighten the clip out, and pull out. Then to put back in, you push pin in and bend it at the end (to keep it from coming out). The screw method looks better, but you got to work with what they give you.

    • @gcn
      @gcn  9 лет назад +8

      Hi Bruce, do you mean they won't move back into the body of the caliper? You might have to use a large flat-headed screwdriver to lever them back in.

    • @DolleHengst
      @DolleHengst 6 лет назад

      If you run a certain type or brand of caliper, say Shimano XT or Ultegra, a new pad will have a standard size. Just like with a car.

    • @huddarudda2244
      @huddarudda2244 5 лет назад

      I’ve seen on another video the new pads measured with a micrometer 4.0mm and shimano manual specifies replacement at 0.5mm not 1.5mm. So I’m told.

    Umm, isn't their step-by-step out of order? Remove the pads is 2, then push pistons back is 3?

    • @paddyoleary1
      @paddyoleary1 Год назад

      Agree. But you generally reset pistons with the old pads still in the caliper. This prevents you damaging the piston surfaces. Once pistons are reset then remove old pads.

    Will new pads grind a bit before they have worn in? I did the whole, pull the brake and then tighten down the caliper, but there is still a bit of light grinding noise. I assume it will go away after a few hard braking sessions.

    • @jaakko200987654321
      @jaakko200987654321 6 лет назад

      Adam W it will go away. if not, loosen the caliper bolts, press brake and tighten the caliper back to recommended torque

    I mistakenly put oil in brake. Disc now the brake is creating crazy sound , how can i fix it without anything replacement or without opening any part?

    • @vittocrazi
      @vittocrazi 6 лет назад

      they said in another video that you can go to a controlled and safe environment, and accelerate and brake there. the temperature of the disc should burn the oil.
