This was one of the wrestlers who got punished for doing exactly what he was told to do, no one generated as much heat as this guy in the mid 2000s, even all time hated heels like JBL got cheered when making a move against Hassan. He was not rewarded for it though, the guys booking the show messed up and punished him for it, absolute shame given all the potential he had.

Well how would the WWE know the network would get so upset when they aired essentially a terrorist kidnapping the same day as an actual terrorist attack. It's not like the angle was recorded days beforehand and management could have just edited it out of the show.

Hassan would have (not could have) paved the way for others (non-cookie cutter wrestlers).
I had 3 WWE tryouts as a Chinese wrestler prior to 2010. His push would have been a God send and would have ushered in a 2nd age of Attitude Era instead of the PG era.
I was presented as Chinese but am also Japanese/Hawaiian and wrestled Yuji Nagata when I was 23.
