My boss is on the Board of Directors for that company, I was able to demo it and give them feedback on it over a year ago. That thing is awesome, I took it to a couple of customers houses and let them try it also and they absolutely loved it.
I just purchased this Box plane due to buying a new kubota and wanting the most out of 1 rear implement. I'm glad I got to see your video with these in action as I had been on the debate on getting a box blade or land plane. This thing does it all! There is no other real world reviews on this thing other than your videos so I greatly appreciate it!
Great Video Courtney! I haven't seen a tool like this before! I think with the way people love box blades and land planes this should be a good seller. Put a hydraulic cylinder on that gate so it can be adjusted from the operators seat and I think that would be the ticket! Perhaps on the production model.
I wish they would put hydraulic cylinders on a lot of the smaller tractors, but no company does it, even though, majority tractor sold every year are sub compact to compact. They even put rear hydraulics as standard on these tractors but no attachments with hydraulics. I would love a 5’ to 6’ rear blade in the 3-400 lb range with a hydraulic angle so when it snows you don’t have to get off and try to change the angle when it’s covered in snow and ice. That’s a no brainer, but still no one makes it.
That's awesome a company that actually listens the people and developed something people wanted . Many of us have asked the question box blade or landplain now we can have both. Thanks to them for listening.
Looking good. Like how both are combined, box blade & Landplane. Landplane owner here and very happy with its performance.... just maintaining my gravel drive way. Thanks for the vid and your time
I actually thought about patenting something like this about a year ago. Obviously someone else beat me to it and had the capability. This is a much needed attachment.
I had a similar mindset that I would buy a land plane and fab up a rear blocking plate to convert it into a box blade. But this product looks fantastic!
There's not much about it that's not obvious, but the patent office will hand out a patent for anything. (the latch mechanism would be the key to the patent. a tilting gate/door isn't... there have been lots of those on many things.) I've seen some that worked like a dump truck door - pin at the top so it can swing back, but it can't swing forward.
That is way too cool Courtney! Very intriguing. Thanks for the great demo. And I love that it is made here in North America. Cheers and wish you and your family a wonderful Holidays!
Anytime you can combine tools into one is a huge win! Buy one tool to do double or even triple duty is cost savings and used more since it is so versatile.
this will be the new de facto standard for small farm and home owning people asking if they should get box blade or land plane.. i havent seen this but i want it. nice find.
That is a pretty ingenious tool! It looks like the thickness of the metal (especially the sides, but all around too) might need to be beefed up some if it is to be offered in 72" or 84" wide. As other have mentioned, add a cylinder to adjust the gate from the operator's seat and you have a huge winner! Take care and God Bless.
Man I could have used that thing about a month ago, on my neighbor's driveway! I like it! Maybe not as much as the versaforks, but for someone looking for a land plane, this makes a nice option.
Why are you not selling the summit tractors and attachments? It seems like a perfect match for you and your business. I have tried getting a hold of some summit dealers about their tractors and have not got a return call yet
I do gravel work for a living, usually large driveways and parking lots. I see this as being perfect for a home owner or hobby farmer, they should sell a lot of them. It’s a compromise as the shorter length than a land plane means it won’t get it quite as smooth. But the compromise to me looks really small and totally worth it from either not having to swap implements. Even on gravel driveways it’s nice to be able to pull gravel from high spots and move to low spots. I currently have to bring both implements to do that, this can do both 👌 Won’t repeat feedback for angle blade but I agree. So to make a really good finish you don’t want to cut much, so you extend the top link so just the underside of the rear cutting blade is on the ground, all it does is smooth and compact a bit. Negative is that it leaves skid shoe marks in the gravel from the pressure points from them. Ideally in a perfect implement for me I would be able to leave the box level but just adjust the pitch of the cutting edges to raise the front off the gravel but leave the rear of it down. Not sure how to fabricate that but there you go 😂
In the famous words of Artie Johnson of Laugh-in fame…… “Very Interesting” Curious about the specs of this implement….. I really enjoy tuning into your channel and seeing the next big thing that’s being developed like this implement 👍👍👍
Courtney, do you have any videos with recommended corn and bean planters for a 25HP tractor? I'm looking to get one before next spring and hoping for expert recommendations
Looks like a very versatile piece of equipment. One suggestion for the future, what about offering a hydraulic function to lift the back blade to allow you to easily dump or adjust the amount of material you are releasing from the rear. Many of us have multiple functions installed.
Looks like it keeps filling up like a box blade, even with the gate open in landplane mode. Is that typical with normal landplanes too? Or was it happening because of something particular with the gravel conditions that day?
Courtney I think the concept is a great one. I bought a JD box blade and ever since I second guessed not getting the Landplane. Now that all of the grading is done I need a landplane. This would have been the ticket for me. When will these be available? Really like the Summit tractor setup. Especially the ease of getting to the Battery. The 1025r is so difficult to get to the battery. Too many nice extras on the Summit tractor. Might have to sell my John Deere and purchase one in the next couple of years. The videos are always great and provide exceptional content.
Love the use of multi use tools on the tractor! But, I wonder how well it would release dirt when used as a box blade, or if the plane blades would hinder letting go of the dirt!
Controlled expansion. They are focused on one geographic reason for this year. Prove out the process, work out kinks in the system, etc, then go much wider next year.
Courtney, if you could help them get hydraulics and the second blade on it, it's a "must have" in my, definitely never has been nor wiil be humble, opinion. Seriously, haven't picked up my box/ordered my plane, how long before I can order?
I agree with Kyle's comment, a hydraulic cylinder for the gate is the next improvement needed. How thick is the steel on the sides of this tool. I can see the need for this tool.
I think this really clever. But it looks very light compared to my box or land plane. I have to add weight to them to scarify so concerned this would have trouble digging in on an old clay/gravel drive
Very nice, but i think you need a blade on one side (about 18") to pull in the shoulders of the road ( it should be removable and have about a 30% downward slop) ? In that way you can keep the crown on the road. As it is a prototype this could make it PERFECT??? Thanks Dave
@@GoodWorksTractors Not realy, I made one for my box blade with an old cutting edge from a Boss V Plow and a piece of bed frame angle iron. Just bent the cutting edge and welded the angle iron to it then bolted it with 2 bolts to the side of the box blade and it works great for bringing in the bank left by the blade where the tractor cannot get over far enough??? Dave
I think I know now why I have not bought a land plane yet. I’ve always seen room between a box blade (which is kind of necessary) and a land plane (which is something I think I want) for something in between them. This might be it. When these become available I hope you will let us know. 😄
60" is great for a land plane.. the box blade filling is usually the issue on sub compacts. I have a landpride gs0560 that I use behind my bx1880 for topdressing / repairing yards and driveway resurfacing. That being compact and a multi use tool should create decent sales for it
Curious if the holes for the possible second blade are setup so the front blade would be at an angle like on a lane plane, to help shift the material to one side? Wonder if it would be better to base the design on a land plane and add the box blade "door" to that design (okay, maybe just what I think would maybe be better)? Interesting product though. I must have missed the Versa Forks video, that looks interesting, anyways have a good one!!
I have done that with my old land plane. I had to straighten the rear angle blade in order to enclose the back of it. Box blades are typically much shorter than a land plane, which means it won’t get a driveway as smooth. Also it also has to be shorter and taller to hold the proper amount of material. So it needs higher sides than a land plane, but not as high as a box scraper and same with length, a in between size. I totally love this idea tho and looks very well executed.
My opinion, this is a really good idea for for smaller compact and subcompact tractors. I could definitely see this working really good behind kubota bx, b and lx tractors John deere 1023 and 1025 just all brands of sub compact tractors. Also small compacts 35hp and under. Not building for the subcompact class tractors would be a big missed market. It seams like a lot of people with the subcompact have limited amount of space for tractor and tractor accessories. They definitely need to build sizes for both groups of tractors.

Interesting. Seems like they could also make a version where that back gate can raise and lower on hydraulics so you don't have to get off the tractor to adjust.
Like many others commenting it looks too lightly made for box blade duties. Would like to see you pushing backwards with the thing. Also would love to see you digging a ditch with it. Looks like a great concept.
You dig a ditch with a box blade?!?!? That would do a terrible job, even with too and tilt. Unless of course you a awake or something that’s 5ft+ wide. A Rear blade is an easy ditching tool, a box blade not so much.

After using the Summit Tractor for awhile how do you like it and how does it compare to other tractors of it's size ? Any Issues ?

Love it I’m buying one
I like it! Only thing is where the land plane has angle on the cutting blade and this doesn't but I could manage by dropping one side of the 3 point.
Maybe dumb question- but it looks like it’s pulling up a lot of dirt with the gravel? Or it that just wet gravel?
That’s just the fines. It helps bind the gravel together.

pretty interesting design for sure, Would be curious to see how it holds up long term as you loose a bit of rigidity with the open gate design.
It's probably super hard to open and close when dirt is stuck within the hinges and handle.
Land planes don't have a solid wall across the back and do just fine long term. Same concept, just adding the gate.
Love the use of multi use tools on the tractor! But, I wonder how well it would release dirt when used as a box blade, or if the plane blades would hinder letting go of the dirt!
I really don't see any issues. Planes will pull lots of material as well if you angle it the right way. Releases just fine when needed.
I need more land so I would have an excuse to get more attachments.
I literally said that to my wife this morning before I even watched this video lol

Good question...I'll be doing more video in the future once it's completely finalized. Will include specs at that time
I’m interested if the second blade is angled
Our driveway at the farm is only 150 feet so cannot justify buying one....but reworking the 25'x90' pad on the pistol range might.
I hear ya, good for more than just driveways though with the box blade versatility

I have not seen this on your site for sale. Is it out yet?
tell me exactly what it is helping, turning stone back into dirt??? it already appeared level
It was not level and graded it out and brought gravel to the surface.
I think this really clever. But it looks very light compared to my box or land plane. I have to add weight to them to scarify so concerned this would have trouble digging in on an old clay/gravel drive
Can't make it too heavy, but I don't think it feels light duty at all.
any idea if they will make it for a cat zero 3 point?
Are they going to be offering one with wheels? That would be perfect!
Will that extra blade be angled? That’s the key for a land plane to add crown. I need this thing !!! My ABI land plan is too heavy.
Hoping so
We have 7 acres of very rough ground do you think this would help smooth it out or any ideas on how to smooth out rough ground. Thank You
Definitely, but it is much easier for any grading tool to till it up first and break up the sod.

I don't think it would, just have a hunch that it's not large enough. They'll have a bigger model coming out that will definitely lift it though.

Spring 2023!
Most small tractors do not have any remote hydraulic capability, my JD 1023E doesn't. An electric liner actuator would be a good option.
With the summit having rear remotes standard, I would think a hyd rear gate (or a hydraulic option) would be the cats meow
This tool is a fantastic idea but it would be even sweeter if they made a hydraulic option for the back gate and second scrape blade.
Interesting. Seems like they could also make a version where that back gate can raise and lower on hydraulics so you don't have to get off the tractor to adjust.
