I would definitely like to see several more episodes on this car's restoration. Great Body to work with. Love to see a engine rebuild instead of dropping a replacement in her. Thanks Dylan!! Love your videos.
I vote to keep it numbers matching and pull that motor apart. That is a rare and unique vehicle, even if you don't do a complete restoration it could be a valuable multi video for bringing it back to life. We have seen several 440 and have 460 builds, how about building us a 383. I helped a friend bring back a 65 Fury with a 426 cross-ram wedge. Talk about rare.
I'm on board with the rebuild. Nice to keep this one original. 1965 was such a great year for car design in general, most manufacturers retooled and offered new drive trains, bodies became more squared off. Always liked the roofline on the '65 mopars
Despite not running, this is one of the most amazing revivals I've seen. I love seeing stuff dragged out of the forest after sitting so long. I really can't believe that trunk lid isn't eaten though seeing as how there were plants growing on it. It would definitely be cool to see a rebuild on that motor too!
I agree with the other comments, tear that engine down and rebuild it. That engine is the heart of the car and they both deserve a second chance. Just fitting another engine is the easy way out and we'd love to see you fix the original. Hi from the UK by the way!
When that valve cover was removed at 27:26 I said, "Oh no." To me it looked like someone (young kid probably) had run the car for years without changing the oil or even topping it off. I'd really like to see an engine rebuild or at least a forensic failure investigation as I'm also a big fan of 1965 Chrysler/Dodge models.
I know it’s a lot of work, but I’d love to see a tear down and rebuild of that motor. That car begs for a second chance. There’s a power tour in its future.
Tear down and rebuild. Needs a 413 or 440. Love the roof lines on 65 -67 mopsrs. Big car needs big displacement. Get a 449 from a motor home. They usually have low miles due to cost of operation.
I say to tear down that old engine and try to rebuild it to preserve the beauty that it is and educate some people that might want to know this stuff. :)
Beautiful Monaco ! We had a 66 Dodge Polara - just about the same car, 318 big block. 4 dr , radio delete. We couldn't kill that car .! Sold it with almost 100,00 mi, and the next owner drove it quite a while until they totaled it.! We bought It from the original owner in the 70's with no rust.! Keep yours original Dylan. !
WHY it seized?🙄 How about sitting outside for 40 something years in a moist climate...eventually the cylinder walls and lifter bores will rust so the pistons and lifters get stuck.
Dylan, I have never made a comment before on your channel. I have been a long time subscriber and really loved the car you put the Hemi in and rebuilt. But this car is totally worth tearing out the 383 and tearing it apart and rebuild it! PLEASE!?!? THIS CAR IS SO WORTH SAVING INCLUDING THE ORIGINAL ENGINE. Thank you for reading my comment
Dylan, I see a lot of comments recommending an engine rebuild; I'm with them! I think you should do a series, rebuild the 383, and keep 'er original. Beautiful car!
I want to see a rebuild akin to your Challenger rebuild, but keeping it the motor original. This car is definitely worth the effort and your viewers/fans would love it!
We gotta say... it would be very cool to see this engine rebuilt and running her down the road once again. That's all a part we all go through saving the classics. We have a 413 on our channel that just may be a little worse inside. Great video! Keep up the great work saving them. 👍
PLEASE rebuild the OE engine! The car is far more valuable with original drivetrain! Plus, you need that next level of involvement with these great finds (don't you? Lol). I used to build and race these era mopars, they are worth the effort. I still own a 66 Coronet 500 2 dr. h.t., factory 383 4bbl 4 speed. Have owned it since 1968. It's all factory driveline but for the diff. I traded the original 3:23 posi with my buddy's new 68 Super Bee 4spd rear diff, it was the Dana 60 with deeper gears. He wanted MPG, I wanted ET's, lol. I lost contact with him after he moved out west. Cheers.. you have a lot of eyes on your Monaco 👍😎😄
Almost 9k likes in 10 hours.... like the rest, I would love to see a rebuild on the engine. Rare car like you said, would love to see it back on the road.
I just bought a 77 ford ranchero 351w with an automatic. Still starts but sitting on the wheels in the mud. It was last on the road back in 08 and its sat since then. I'm starting work on it Saturday afternoon to get it reliable and I'm going to daily it while I do the full restoration on it. Would love to see more of this Monaco while I do that
Love that gigantic old AC compressor in there, they really overbuilt things back then! Cleaned up really nice. Would love to see a tear-down of the original engine.
I think you found your Power Tour 2022 car! What an awesome find and a chance to get another classic back on the road! Love your videos man. Can't wait to see the new shop!!!
I really love what you are doing, You are bigest inspiration for me, I make model cars I have over 200 model kits to build. I didnt had power to continu my model chanel, but wathcing all your episodes and seeing all of thos cars put so much passion into my soul man thanks to you! Hope one day i will own car like that , Im from Poland Europe and its very hard for us to get such cars and kinda expensive not so popular but American cars are the best! The sounds of engines is so amazing!Old pickups are the most beautifful cars in the world! 2 days ago i have seen 2 trailers with about 12 cars from USA , it had fev pickups and some cadilacs| Dodge. Man You are bigest inspiration for me ! Thank You so much!
Dylan: Really enjoy your videos. Been watching with my son for the last couple of years. I'll echo the comments by others recommending a video on a tear-down and rebuild of that 383. And if it turns out that it can't be rebuilt, I have a complete HP-383 sitting on a stand in my garage that I will donate to the cause. It needs a carb, alternator and fan belts. Pulled it out of my '66 Chrysler 300. Engine ran well and had good compression.
I am echoing what many others have said, I love this car and I would love to see the old 383 pulled, rebuilt and dropped back in. Please don’t turn this beautiful vehicle into a drag car!
Make it run you we fall in love with it more. I used to have a 66 Sport Fury and my Grandpa bought one in 66. It was his 1st new car and he only had one other new car in his life. He lived to be 88. Love the show keep up all your Great work. 😎👍
Yes Dylan, this Monaco is more then worthy of running and driving again!!! But PLEASE do not do an engine swap. Once you get the heads off her, you can free up the pistons with shocking them. Uncle Tony's garage does it all the time. Looking very forward to viewing a lot more on the classic. Thank you.
I think I'd rather see you tear down and access the original engine...if its rebuildable then run with it. It would be cool to see it going like the day it was new...AC working etc...don't much care what you do to the outside...but spruce the interior up some.
OK Dylan, I'm going to put my two cents worth in here. The "sludge" you were seeing in the valve cover and on the rocker arms was generally caused by Motor oil with a graphite base. So yes, they did change the oil just like they were supposed to. (Your records in the book proved that.) But that old motor oil with the graphite caused all of that. It probably caused oiling problems in the bottom end, hence the locked up motor. But a 65 era 383 is definitely worth the trouble of saving.
Love the work you do. Keep the 383 and rebuild it all and keep it patina looking and get that mopar back on the road where it belongs. Been off the road for way way too long.
The engine definitelly needs to be rebuild. It is an amazing car and by making it a full original, it would transform it into a real piece of art. It would be very interesting. Greetings from Greece btw your channel is awesome!
That thing is utterly beatiful, many of those were turned into lowriders, id really love to see a restoration, or atleast see it sold to somebody who will restore it. As a Finnish man, i cannot believe that in the US cars that we consider exotics, are left to rot for decades
not only were some left to rot, most of those are used in demolition derbies, these big c-body cars are coveted by derby guys for their thick sheet metal and tough frames. btw, i hate demo derbies
I like seeing anything old saved from the crusher or from rotting away. I hope you save it, a good engine builder can tell you if that block can be rebuilt, it really doesn’t cost much to pull the motor and find out. Hope to see more of the Monaco.
great find! I pulled one like this from a barn a couple summers ago that sat for 35 years. light blue, with a black top, blue interior. 383 4bbl and power windows, steering and brakes.
That is definitely “McCool”!!! Will follow this project just like ALL of your others. This once is super unique and nothing like it on the RUclips’s! Nice find!
I grew up riding around in the rumble seat of a ‘65 Dodge Monaco wagon, so this project is one I’d like to see come to a happier and driving state of existence. Content I’d like to see you do would be carefully disassemble the interior and restore the inside with some covert modern touches. Pull the motor trans and suspension, repair any structural stuff, and modernize the running gear, leaving that patina mostly untouched, but protected. Like a Jonathan Ward “Icon derelict” type build. Ok, too expensive pipe dream, but that’d be super cool.
Tear down that motor, show us how bad it is on the inside, and let's rebuild it to keep it as original as possible. I'd watch every video in the series!
First time watching one of your videos. For the exception of your commercial @7:36-9:57, I liked this video very much. You weren't tossing air cleaners into the air or making up words to try and draw an audience and I thank you! Please just rebuild the existing 383. Nice save. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year Dylan!
Always amazes me how you manage to find good iron in the woods. Around here (Nova Scotia), something left in the woods is pretty much gone a decade later.
Back when I was in the military I helped a friend install a new cam kit in a 65 mustang and we removed the oil sludge out from under the intake by the hand full's. We cleaned it with degreaser and got the engine as clean as we could installed the cam kit and got it running. He done a few oil changes in the first week and had no problems after that.
1965 was one of my favorite years as I began my teaching career. I am a fan of any upscale sports coupe. I have a 1964 Impala SS and it has all the amenities that the Monaco has including factory air. Please bring this fabulous relic of a bygone era back to life!
No Apologies necessary, I'm glad that you are paying the old girl the respect she deserves. Special cars need special treatment sometimes. Great work Dylan.
It's like JYD says, provided there's no internal damage, he can get it running. You just happened to find one that fits that bill. Good luck, love to see what you do with it.
I agree with everyone before me, who said to rebuild the original engine. That would be the best revival I've seen thus far. It would definitely be worthy.
Definitely would love to see a Dylan Mccool rebuilds a 383 series with this!
Tear down that motor and rebuild it I'd love to see that car on the road like it was in 1965 plus it would be a good chance to educate some people
I agree!
This is exactly what I was thinking. This car deserves to have its engine rebuilt especially if it really only has 47k miles.
Agree!
agree, rebuild it.
It would be wholesome. But knowing that he's gonna put a crate engine or crush it (very unlikely) I'd just sell it to someone who'd restore it to new
I would definitely like to see several more episodes on this car's restoration. Great Body to work with. Love to see a engine rebuild instead of dropping a replacement in her. Thanks Dylan!! Love your videos.
Tear down the engine would make good content. It would be interesting to see how far it's gone inside and maybe even rebuild it.
Tear down that 383. It's a high compression engine, and will run like a scalded dog once gone through.
I think I'd have pulled the engine after the first couple days with the PB and trans fluid. Bit yeah, keep the original motor.
Talk about rare.
love the wedge

i agree 100%
I agree.
Fix it fix it fix it and put a 426 big block in it
I'm on board with the rebuild. Nice to keep this one original. 1965 was such a great year for car design in general, most manufacturers retooled and offered new drive trains, bodies became more squared off. Always liked the roofline on the '65 mopars
You have done harder things than pulling and fleshing a engine. Give the Monico the love she deserves, keep her original.
Agree 100%
Yes pls. I am big on keeping cars to the original when rebuilding it
Agree
Agreed
Engine rebuild!! PLEASE. Agree with others that it would be a great educational video series.
Definitely agree.
Despite not running, this is one of the most amazing revivals I've seen. I love seeing stuff dragged out of the forest after sitting so long. Do a full tear down and rebuild on the engine ,show us how bad it is. Great videos dylan.

Another vote for an engine teardown and rebuild. She probably hasn't been cracked with such low miles.
I know it’s a lot of work, but I’d love to see a tear down and rebuild of that motor. That car begs for a second chance. There’s a power tour in its future.

@@MrZdvy No need to be a smart ass buddy. I meant like if its a frozen crank or piston. Not what caused it to seize.
That seems like such a unique package, I'd love to see the motor rebuilt instead of dropping another one in.
Agreed
Reminds me of my grand fathers '65 Polara, Use to tow an airstream trailer with it right up until a few years before he passed in '99.
Motor teardown forsure. Would love to see the process of engine rebuild, and keep the car original
I want to see more on this. As for the engine, I'm the kind that would try to rebuild it when others say it can't be done.
That's a nice find, Classic worth bringing back. I agree, rebuild the motor and get her on the road again.
I say pull the heads off and rebuild it. That would be a great adventure! I love Cbodies! Especially my 67 300!
Would love to see that engine torn down and rebuilt.
Keep the original engine!
Yes, back in the day, whenever somebody bought a car like this, an engine rebuild or a swap was pretty much assumed to be part of the deal
