  • In this woodturning video I show how to make a wooden coffee cup without any special jig. I use regular woodturning tools without any special jigs to turn on two axis. I really make the most out of the lathe chuck. It is food safe(with reservations) and holds liquids. There are many videos on this topic and this is my take on the coffee cup. Great fun woodworking project for beginners that only require basic tools.
    Hope you like it :)

After the first passage you can even make 2 tenons, cut it in two parts, and make 2 identical cups out of a single piece

Dude, I have to say, I’m really impressed by your technique. Your cuts are incredibly smooth and it seems like you do minimal sanding. I hope to get there one day!

That is very nice of you to say 🤩 thank you 🙌 You know there is probably more sanding than it looks like in the video 😉 but my cuts are getting better for every project 👍

Fine Job! I like it. Question… what do you prefer for finishing? And can you keep it clean?

Thanks 🤩 I’m trying different finishes, this one tung oil. I had someone say it’s the best way. I have also tried walnut oil and that has been fine. To clean it I just use a moist cloth or paper towel

@@nordicturning thx, somebody made a little bottle use for a drink. He used resin and he told that he had information of the resin factory that this resin was suitable for drinks , food etc. Did you have the same experience?

@@jannitert6576 I think that might have been my project too? I did consider using resin on this one too, but seems that most other turners recommend only oils, like walnut oil, tung oil or danish.

Co takhle říznout polotovar (tu "hrušku") napůl a hned jsou bez větší námahy hotové dva kusy :))
