- MLL Fan Zak Dorn qualified to partake in the 2014 MLL Fastest Shot contest shooting 107 mph in the Rabil Warrior Challenge.
Dorn then went on to first tie Mike Sawyer's world record 114 mph shot and then break the world record with a blistering 116 mph.

So for those mentioning the crowd, I was there and the PA system was horrible for the whole halftime segment. We had no idea what was happening real time. I didn't even know the speed until I checked twitter on my phone. Some may have had a better spot for the sound, but from where I was, we were guessing from reactions on the field that he had won.
Everyone sitting near me had no idea what was happening. We heard the announcer scream and that was it.
This isn't entirely surprising to me though...I played MCLA club lax in college, and while we had no where near the skill level of regular NCAA guys, MLL guys or even some of the MIAA kids, there were a lot of muscle heads on the team and guys who could really rip shots. I feel like the ability to shoot really fast does not necessarily correlate with skill level, just strength and shooting form.
Of course it doesn't...
No kidding. Guys can rip bombs in slow pitch softball but couldn't hit a pitch from a decent high school pitcher. Some things are just for spectacle.

As a chicago native, this guy came to my high school during my freshman year. It was spring sports picture day and we had practice afterwards. One of the players on my team had a dad who knew him. Came over and did a sample shot during a break. My coach was behind the goal with a rader gun and helment. I think he did shoot 100+ miles. One of my favorite memories from my high school lacrosse days.

I was at the game and we were in shock. The guys who worked the shooting cage for Warrior were amazed by him, as was the rest of the crowd. Everyone loved it that Z came out of nowhere, lot's of applause!

you people need to stop hating and admitting lacrosse is an unpopular sport. I could care less if its unpopular. Because at the moment more people are signing up for lacrosse than baseball. Just saying don't hate on one video from the all time unfamous all star game that no one goes too, hate on the amount of attention a newer official sport is getting. People don't walk into school talking about some other common sport broadcasted on espn top 10. They are most likely talking about that one sport that hardly anyone knows about, but looked so cool. Lacrosse is growing quite a bit, and I think people need to start realizing that

Lacrosse is a savage game. Very tough, very skillful, very difficult.
Its obvious by comments on here who has never played lax. Its an unbelievable game. There is no feeling like making a nasty split dodge leaving your defender in the dust to a plant and rip to the top corner on a high level goalie at 90+ mph. Its an insane feeling.
Lacrosse was originally an old indian war game. People have died playing lacrosse....can the same be said of other sports?

@Peter Mok Hell nah, it was one dude on our team. This sum bitch could hit upper 90s on most of his shots. Dude could rip like a damn pro. Don't know why he never continued playing. Some of his shots did hit 3 digit.
I could give a rats ass about lacrosse but it's pretty cool that a fan is able to compete and then actually beat the professionals at an event. Had to have been an awesome moment for the guy.

It's like the guys that are long distance drivers in golf. Most, if not all, couldn't play on the tour but can out drive all the pros. If you practice one aspect of the sport enough you can become the best.

I'm from the US (New England) and grew up playing lacrosse. I currently watch college lax but not much MLL. I'll watch box lacrosse too if I see that it's on tv. It's definitely not a main stream sport in the US though, but growing pretty substantially.

For all you saying that this man is better than professionals, this guy has form and strength, however the skill that the other players have to pick a corner, shoot at 90+ mph on the run after coming out of dodge are the professionals, I highly doubt this man could do that, or at least not as well (not saying I could either, just saying).
