Thanks for this video. After decade of being extremely skinny and not gaining weight, I’ve been on a mission to gain weight and build back muscle loss. Gaining back extra appetite to eat much more has been challenging. I eat out a lot at all you can eat places to get enough calories. I am finally gaining weight and with weight lifting, getting muscle mass back. People are shocked when they find out how old I am. I look 50 but I am 70 now.
Same here. Very important what we eat, when we eat and resistance training. Am 70 and was always underweight until I learned how to improve at my age. Very tough but if to follow a good method than we can get it. Always 105 now 108 steadily and to add more .

Thanks Mark. Us “hardgainers” are often forgotten about. But after 50 I’m definitely finding fat is much easier to put on than muscle, even while still having a slim overall look. It’s hard to gain the muscle.
Get a glucose meter and check out blood sugars. After 60, MANY are having insulin resistance (prediabetes) and don't even realize it. Most carbs like breads and sugars like jelly will spike blood sugar. This is just as important as keeping the muscle strong!
I am one of these guys - I already eat these foods. I was 120 lbs when I was 18 and 190 with 5.5% bf at 46. I've given up gaining more. If eat more my metabolism speeds up - if I work out harder, my metabolism speeds up. To gain weight I had to eat nonstop all day every day - and that is NOT fun. So I am good where I am - at this age it is so much less about vanity and more about health. With the health comes the vanity - and hopefully longevity.

Please know that it is likely they are being teased by others - I heard I was bulimic, sick, etc. This does hurt them even if they don't show it. My miracle food was honey. Honey is 100% natural and is very calorie rich. And, they will likely love it - it will make almost anything taste good. I was eating it 4-5x a day. If I knew I was going to work out, mow lawn, etc. I stick half an English muffin toaster, then saturate it with honey before adding blueberries on top. My second miracle food is nuts - almonds, pistachios, walnuts. I eat at least three handfuls of nuts a day - they are VERY high calorie and exceptionally healthy - you can even add honey to walnuts on a piece of healthy bread (which you can also buy high protein versions of). I'd say try that, if after two weeks they don't gain any weight, add more. Think of things they love to eat and look for ways to add healthy natural foods to them. Eventually their metabolisms won't be able to take on enough honey and their bodies will add weight to their bodies. If they stop however, they will go right back to the weight they are.
Dude, those fried egg sandwiches are the way to go. I throw a smashed avocado in there too it's amazing that's what I have for breakfast 3 days out of the week and those are my favorite 3 days for sure
To some that don’t like oatmeal. You can go with cream of rice. Mix it up with your protein shake or just eat it like that and add some of your favorite fruits with eggs and maybe a bagel

For the PB&J Sandwich you should have emphasized to use NATURAL Peanut Butter; and NOT "regular" JIF, Skippy, Kraft, type PB. Those ones have a lot of very unhealthy Hydrogenated Oils, and Trans Fats; whereas the Natural PB's do not. But still contain plenty of protein and healthy fat.

Thanks, good tips. Raspberry jam with no or very little added sugar is tops with peanut better. Lately, I’ve been eating peanut butter (only peanuts, no added sugar) and banana on multigrain toast for breakfast along with a boiled egg on the side. It’s very filling and I don’t seem to get a sugar crash an hour or so later.
I eat 1 apple celery 🥕 2 poached eggs and every third day everything the same except I add king Oscar’s sardines instead off eggs stay lean and really healthy proteins sardines olive oil.

I'm 69 and had a partial orchiectomy 25 years ago. Testosterone levels are very low. I suspect that I subcutaneous fat in my muscles. I was born with good muscular genetics and still have a higher level of muscles. Many younger people comment on my shape. but I have a lot of fat on top of my arm muscles...I have developed upper chest muscles, but below, I have man breasts. I hit a plateau and have a problem with tennis elbow and advanced osteoarthritis in my cervical, thoracic, and lumbar areas of my spine. I currently weigh 74 kilos. Can you discuss a dietary workout plan?
Hi, thanks for the video, I'm 68, 6'1, 168 lb. I got sick for about a month after visiting my grandkids, lost almost 10 lb, cant seem to get it back. I start most days w/ pickleball for like 2 or 3 hours. I usually do core and free weight workouts. I'm going to try this for a while see if I can at least get back to the mid 170's. I've always struggled with weight as in gaining any. Seems like the entire world is losing wt, not much info out there on us skinny guy gaining weight. Thanks for the info

Hey Mark, great content, by the way. Quick question. I've Googled and can't find the answer. But what is a good rest time between exercises, not sets but excercises example from dumbell pullover to dumbell shrugs.
If you are trying to do supersets, you should go directly from one exercise to the next - no rest, rest after the last exercise. If you are doing supersets or cycles on a 3 minutes cycle, you do exercise 1, immediately exercise 2, rest the balance, 3 minute mark - start over again. Keep at it
All carbs turn to glucose some spike insulin more than others potassium allows protein into the cell make sure you have at least 4000 mg a day and dead lifts to trigger growth hormone and testosterone which will be in short supply don't over do it with the carbs it covers up your definition.
Eggs and avocado for breakfast , fish and veg for lunch , fruit and oatmeal in the afternoon as a pre workout meal , steak and veg for dinner . My average day would be something like that ,

I have a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with sprouted whole wheat bread three times a week, bread has 4g of protein per slice. All of these foods mentionef are staples in my daily intake.👍🏾💪🏾
I actually consume all 5 of your suggested foods for skinny guys but still cannot gain weight. My testosterone level is considered high for my age which also is confusing. My strength is good, at about 90% of what it was when I was 30, but I weigh 25 pounds less than I did then. Frustrating and confusing. I'm up for any suggestions.
When i make healthy sandwiches i use vogal bread avocado as my butter boiled eggs cheese sliced tomatoes, lettuce or spinach and shaved ham healthy as and for dinner i have rice, scrambled eggs, avocado mixed veges and chicken breasts and my protein shakes im either having my supplements or ill just make aye fruity smoothie with frozen bananas, apples, berries, strawberries, kiwifruit and best of all watermelon my favorite 😊
STORY TIME... At about 37 I fasted & prayed for 4 days/nights & on day 5 the fast was broken. On Saturday morning I went to our church's group exercise class & did some advanced ab exercises for the first time in my LIFE!! I was using a wheel and rolling it in front of me horizontally all the way into a SUPERMAN pose & then back up again 15X!! 💥 The music was great & there was so much COLLECTIVE ENERGY 💥 IN THE ROOM that made the exercises FEEL easy & GOOD!! 😃 My reward at the end was going to the locker room, taking off my shirt & discovering for the 1st. time in My Life that I had 8 PACK ABS!!! 😎 MORALE OF THE STORY... Muscle Memory is REAL & now that I'm in the FIRE Community, a bit older, alot wiser; My new goal is get a 6 pack, be agile & pack or exceed the MUSCLE MASS I had during the start of My WARRIOR JOURNEY!!! 💥💥 Thanks for the content & letting us know that since your doing it, WE CAN DO IT TOO!!! 😎

I'm going to be 60 soon and I been working out on and off for about 25 years. I have a skinny body but a belly. I feel like I'm stuck between a rock and a hard best. I want to build muscle but get rid of the belly. This is a hard task to do.

I’m curious. How tall are you? I have twins who are 6 foot four, 20 years old and weigh 125 pounds. Their goal is to get up to 150 lol.

I doubt you are 5.5 bf natural. Otherwise you need to be competing. You would clean house. Even Frank Zane needed steroids to hit 190 5% bodyfat.

I'm going to be 60 soon and I been working out on and off for about 25 years. I have a skinny body but a belly. I feel like I'm stuck between a rock and a hard best. I want to build muscle but get rid of the belly. This is a hard task to do.

Along with oatmeal, I would add quinoa. You can make it savory or sweet and use it like you would oatmeal in the mornings. Lots of protein in quinoa.

I was always considered a hard gainer, now that I stopped working out I'm skinny fat.
You can get preserves without added sugar. It just has fruit and pectin.
Hard boiled eggs are my go to snack. A little pink salt and honey on em. Great for after dinner if you get a sweet tooth!!
