As an older woman 👵 I love my guard dogs 🐕 ❤️ they bark to let you know something is not right around my caravan and also deter criminals 😊
Yeh a big dog is definitely a benefit in situations like this 👍
I see from different videos that more and more, van lifers experience to be bothered, stalked, and scared in the middle of the night. I believe exterior’s camera and/or a remote light, and any other kind of security devices or tools are nowadays necessary. Be safe. People are crazy.
I agree, I really need to invest in some kind of deterrent on the van. Just seems to be this time of year stuff happens.. can't wait till summer and the warm nights 🙂
@@BrendanExplores Yes. Two times in a row. They open gas tank or even back doors thinking there is nobody in the cargo. Small cheap devices can hugely help. Take care. And thank you for your videos.
That is what we have on our Sprinter van two light bars & for over 2 years now we have had the 100W 7 Sound Loud Warning Alarm Siren Horn Car Truck Boat PA Speaker System only used it twice & last year we fitted cctv to the top of the van as well
@@zoltar666pz Yes. I am planning to build a camper and these are essential to me : alarm and light. I also have my dog. He is small but he barks. All these can help you make them run, while having you safe and sleeping well!
Too many vanlife utubers now. Especially solo females. The stealth factors gone now. People forget that everyone may have access to the videos on utube.including the mentally unstable. Jealousy and just plain old raunchy people will copycat attacks on people. And they know when they do attack, your not just being woken up,your literally being " Freaked up". Such actio truly is meant to Terrorize somebody. Such action can truly have major psychological effects on someone
you need some massive LED lightbars all over the roof - that would make em aware that you are aware
I think I do mate, some kind of external deterrent that's for sure
Great video and Steve real good on these outings and lovely genuine guy. Made me feel hungry with those bakewell tarts but two fifty very pricey.
Love the videos keep em coming. 😅😅
@@janinehiggins1507 cheers Janine, glad you liked it 😁 we laughed all weekend on this one 👍

Couldn't agree more Terry
That view in the morning was so picturesque! It's bad about that stalker though, it must have been really scary! Great video as always 👍
When you are both stealth camping it might be a good idea to buy a couple of walkie talkies, that would be the fastest way of communicating to each other while still in the vans 🤔
Great idea! I'll have a look at some and see what's about 👍
Cell phones work too, you know
@@BeckyBeckyBecke Not near fast enough you donut 😂
@@BeckyBeckyBecke
Sometimes when you are in certain spots the cell phones don't work
So walkie-talkie might be the best way 🤔

Absolutely stunning sunrise you captured at the beginning of your video!! ❤ don't beat yourself up about not continuing on your hike, only you know what is best for you.👍
I agree with you for knowing what your senses were telling you and your youthful knowledge of cold and wet feet.
I am glad you turned back. Next time. ☺ I am in America. I enjoy seeing the wonderful places you visit. Thank you. ☺
You've become my favourite RUclipsr... since I found your videos a week or so ago.. honestly you crack me up. Keep up the good work.. your gonna be famous.
That's lovely to hear 🙂 thanks mate 👍. Plenty more adventures to come mate
He's already famous 😎
My favorite RUclips channel. It’s always been a dream of mine to live and explore in the UK. Haven’t quite made it there yet. Thanks for all you do Brendan.
Thank you mate 👍 nice to hear your enjoying the channel 🙂. Appreciate your support and leaving a comment
That Vtoman is over £1500.00! And that's in the sale!
Wow, that morning mist is fabulous!
No, I think you did the right thing in turning back
Awesome as always.
Thank you for sharing your awesome adventures.
GOD BLESS YOU
KEEP ADVENTURING
Great pictures mate, always great when you collaborate with Steve
Thanks buddy and yeh we always have a good laugh 😁👍
You were made for this 💯 and for RUclips!💯👏🏽 so glad i came across your channel! I will be binging your videos for weeks i bet🤔🤗😊♥️♥️
Good to see a youtuber not jumping on the bandwagon and reviewing power stations that others have reviewed to death
That impression of Steve's voice was bang on 😂😂😂😂😂 fantastic video, thank for entertainment Brendan 👌
My wife and I have left two padlocks on the love lock bridge in Bakewell. One in September 2016 and another in December 2019. We linked them together!
Fabulous!
You're right in the middle of where I spent my holiday last year! The walk up to the Overexposed was a fab morning out. Very eerie up there though.
yeah, no, there are no more signs. I think it was about 9 miles round trip in total...
WOW A LAKE OF CLOUDS HOW STUNNING THAT IS, GRATE DRONE FOOTAGE OF THE SUNRISE AND THE CLOUDS JUST SO SO BEAUTIFUL ✌🏻♥️🇬🇧✌🏻🇬🇧♥️♥️🇬🇧🇬🇧♥️👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Im ready . And watching . Excited
Nice one mate, hope you enjoy 👍
As a former user of the Scottish mountains you're always better to turn back if you're not comfortable. Mountain weather can turn bad very quickly.
I love watching how you gentleman are such good mates its a rare thing in today's world it's so lovely watching use on your adventures there'scrazy people in the world stay safe... lv from Australia 😊
The fog in the valley, epic 😊
Wasn't it just mate 🙂 beautiful views!
You did the right thing turning back
hey loving the vids keep up the good work i met your dad today at the social club sunday dinner we spoke for abit hes a top bloke 👍
Love your vids Brendan. Always waiting 4 your new ones. Really enjoy them. Would love to see you explore the Brontë sisters stomping ground 1 day.
Another awesome video! I always look forward to watching the next one
The walk looked nice but i would off done the same health comes first.
Shame about the midnight problem as well.
Keep it up Brandon and Steve you both are awesome to watch
The drone footage, the cooking and the adventures you two are amazing
Take care and can't wait till the next one
Thank you Andy and yeh with not knowing about what lies ahead on that walk I thought it best to turn back. I was really amazed by that drone footage by mam tor 🙂
Hi Brendan, love the videos, your health always comes first. I loved Bakewell when I visited many years ago. Glad you’re both safe and ok. Always trust your instincts. I used to go to utoxeter too long time ago.
Thanks 🙂 yeh I thought it best to turn back at that point not knowing how much further it was going to be 👍
Your videos are so well put together and oh my, the drone footage, so beautiful and stunning, keep them coming!
Thank you very much 🙂 yeh I was stunned when I saw the clouds in the mountains, beautiful..
Love love Brendan laughing xxx
What an amazing view to wake up to !!!
Loved the video as always .good decision
Phew when you slipped I jumped. You were wise turning back, better to get warm and dry
Sorry for the scare 😂 yeh I think so as Steve's shoes were swimming lol. He's a machine
Good thing you have a buddy
Live only 45mins from bakewell they do incredible fish and chips it's extremely busy in summer
You made the right decision, the walk you described could have devastating consequences for wet feet. Better to err on the side of safety and well being, if any error is even involved.
All the night time dramas , could have been some of the locals out lamping for Rabbits and alike, could explain the bright lights in the distance.
Good video, see you next week 👍
Such a cute place❤😊
You made the right decision. The weather and temperature can change in minutes. Home sweet home for me and I'm very homesick I'm trapped in London and know I'll get home one day only problem it will be in a box.
Was it the B29 crash? My dad talked about it, he was a kid when it happened and came from Stalybridge.
I love yours and Steve’s friendship you really bounce off eachother. Really enjoying the videos if you guys come to chester let me know I will give you the guided tour and I know some awesome desert places :)
Safe travels ☺
Brendan I love ya content and look forward to it weekly, ya some bloody Gordon Ramsey mind!
Great video I'm from Philippines btw hi brendan❤️📌
I can't fathom how you manage without a porta loo...😂 I'd be lost without mine.
You need a bucket and some heavy duty bin liners for when you get caught short in the van 😂
Already got my emergency bucket 😉😂 haven't had to use it yet though thankfully lol
That's good you've got a drone!!
Nice one Papa Shango, when you said you should’ve turned back, I was expecting you to burst into a chorus of Cher big man!
😂😂 now that would of been funny lol
I was campaigning in my campervan i set up outdoor lights and cameras attached to motion sensor lights and alarms just for safety aspect aspect, some crazy people these days
Well done, fella!
Cheers mate 👍
You got a Bakewell Tart not the Bakewell Pudding, but as you say you can go back another time. I went last year lovely place and Area went back again as first visit was rained out last summer 😂😂
I probably would have carried on with the walk but to be fair you didn't know how much further it would be and I don't know how horrible your feet felt all wet and that either 😂 at the end of the day you have to do whats best for you personally and theres no shame in going back! Don't bother what anyone else thinks! You aren't having much luck lately with people about at night either are you, hopefully there isn't too much more of that going forward! Already excited to see the next video as always 🙂
is was a very good idea to turn back from the wall because after about 1 more mile you wouldve gotten blisters and different things like that... not ideal!
I live in Kamloops bc canada. They have rod iron feature and people have put locks on it. Lots of locks!! ❤
It's definitely a tough call. Schlepping across the moors with wet, frozen feet or a brew and a Bakewell tart. Might have to get back to you on that one! 🤔🙃😂
You made the right decision to turn back. By all means have your adventures but not at the expense of your health. Be safe out there.
It's very nice to know you have a friend to share a meal & a tart with ❤
I say you made the right decision and turned around. Maybe you can try again when the weather is nicer for a walk like that and yeah wet feet in cold weather is just asking for a health problem in your feet. Good luck and stay safe to both of you.
Cheers mate and yeh I agree, I'll have to come back in the summer when the ground is baked hard 👍
Careful you might scratch the side of your van with them nips 😂 Some lovely views there B, seem to be getting alot more disturbances glad you had each other this time, safety in numbers as they say 👊🏼x
Everyone is different brendan, dont feel bad turning back. Bakewell is a beautiful town. Its not long ago i was in bakewell. I live just outside ashbourne in village called mayfield, not sure if you passed through mayfield, Wish i had van so i could join you on your travels.
Cheers mate and Bakewell was really nice! I'll hopefully be doing a big meet up camp to get everyone together that watches the channel 🙂 hopefully I'll see you there! People could bring tents or vans 👍
@@BrendanExplores that sounds brill brendan. Done plenty of wild camping in tent so used to that haha, so sorry you both didn't get nice night sleep on top of weever hills. There's always someone being a fool.
Thats why I love the Peaks 😊
Absolutely beautiful place 😁
I don't think the cakes you bought we're the traditional bakewell tarts, the ones i'm aware of have almond on the top.
I think you did what was best for you and that’s brilliant! Simple! I couldn’t even do half a mile on that treacherous trek.
Appreciate that mate and yeh I think it the summer it would be a lot easier 👍
@@BrendanExplores hi, your van led roof lights, can they be plugged into a cigarette socket, or do they need to be wired up?
them bakewell tarts look very similar to mr kiplings 😂😂😂
At least you were with Steve, no one better to be with lol Steve don't give an F 😂
You need to go back to bakewell and get a pudding, it’s totally different to a tart, for a start there is no icing,
Yep when he got then I was so annoyed I was screaming like Nooo that’s not a Bakewell pudding
Ahhh damm... I wish someone had said at the time there was an actual difference in style not just name. Oh well, another reason to return in the future 🙂
@@BrendanExplores ye Bakewell pudding is like a pancake /cake size they are one of my favourite puddings and that isn’t a lien
So we now can add PAW to PES🤣 Poundland Ed Sheeran I present Poundland Alfred Wainwright🤣👍🏻 joking aside, there’s nothing worse with really sore blisters especially when you’re out and about for a few days exploring. Great video mate.
Right then Tarts!😉 growing up from round that way, the pudding is the only real Bakewell IMO.
Those mr Kipling’s are more “well baked” than “Bakewell”😂..there nice with custard but not a patch on the original 👍🏼
Atb
Yeh a few people have said about the puddings now! I wish I had known... I would love to try one. When I return I will get one 🙂👍
You 100% made the right decision to turn around. Smart move.
Blue John Caven good camping site.
Good video brendan bakewell looked really nice shame you were disappointed with the bakewell tart though hope you and Steve are ok after just seeing what happened at the end of the video
Thanks Sally and yeh it wasn't what I hoped for but I need to go back and try and pudding 🙂. We did managed to get a couple of hours sleep in the end thankfully
Glad you managed to get a few hours sleep afterwards though
You and Steve make a great duo it’s a shame you can’t do a lot more videos together. I agree with another subscriber you definitely need a light bar it would give you peace of mind too another great video
Hi brendN .we went to bakewell last year .what a beautiful place and I came home with a traditional bakewell pudding .Steve will tell you there's a bridge in Paris with locks on .longtime viewer and sub Laura. Shropshire lass love u guys adventures❤
Yes it's the original bakewell pudding brendan .not Mr ks with the icing n cherry .😂
Thanks Laura and yeh I wish I had got myself a pudding now as a lot of people are saying the puddings are really good 👍
Hi Brendan, you made the right decision for you, good call. Too many people ignore the dangers and push on, they're the ones who end having to be rescued. I think you need to invest in a proper heavy duty pair of walking boots, plenty of outdoor shops in Bakewell. Can't believe you got a tart and not the pudding, although personally I don't like either. As for night time trouble I find a shotgun normally sorts out any misunderstandings 😁 only joking. Take care out there, there's too many nutjobs lurking around
You should 100% do another Peak District series because there is a lot you missed out, fox house, paddly gordge, eyam, curber edge, bamford edge, ladybowet
Absolutely! I'll definitely be going back at some point 🙂
The crash site is actually a B29 Superfortress, it's a great shame you didn't see it as it ranks one of my life time memories. Unbelievable!!! Derbyshire is our favourite van destination from a fellow Salop Monner!!! Love the channel 👍
Ahhh right, thanks for the info mate and one day I will return there and accomplish it 😁. The peak district has been a pleasure to tour around on this trip mate and thenk you for the support!
Summer would be better
Did you go midweek? I tried these areas for the first time a few weeks ago and the amount of people and rubbish really let the place down. I'm glad I opted for a campsite now as I've not had a scary experience yet thankfully. Glad you're safe.
We went on the weekend 🙂 and there was a couple of cars there when we arrived leaving McDonald's rubbish etc. Really annoys me when isss that..
Always carry spare socks and 2 plastic bags when going on a hike!👍👍
Hi Brendan, have you thought more about organising a meet up yet? Mines going to be ready in about 2 weeks and can't wait to give it its maiden voyage
You know your own body. There is no point in making yourself ill. You can always go back in summer hopefully trail alot dryer
I think a summers return is a must! When the ground is baked hard that will be a lot easier 🙂👍
Glossop mountain rescue are always up on bleaklow finding lost walkers looking for that wreck. Cherry Bakewell are nothing like a Bakewell pudding
I know I was so annoyed aha
Thanks for the info mate and that's the main reason I turned back to be fair. I don't want to be needing a rescue on a cold winters day 👍
You really need to fit outside lights and cameras so when you feel some one is outside your van you can look on the camera record it and then turn the lights on witch may or not scare them off.
Bakewell TART
@@jkbenzley nope pudding
You should be OK with good boots, but the ice can get tricky, I've done Kinder Scout up near there a few times, and you don't want to be in the dark unless you are pitching up a tent. Better safe than sorry and you should always have a backpack with some extra water and clothing if it turns nasty. I've been up the weaver hills a few times I had cows rubbing up my vehicle and licking it strangely...
Yes!! They licked our vans as well.. how strange eh? Nice park up other than that though
When you make your food in the air fryer, put some foil in there and you can cook an egg with your bacon.😁
Little bit expensive for £799 though but an excellent bit of machinery
That portable power station is what I have my eye on for sure
Yeh it's a great bit of kit 🙂
Going prepared makes sense otherwise you'll be bedded up for the next few days. Wet feet is not fun on walks and cold days.😮
Quick question regarding the vtoman, can you draw current from it at the same time as charging with the solar panels?
you did the right thing by going back.
Just found your channel and loving your easy manner, I would love to do this but as a woman I think I would be too scared to camp out in an area I am not familiar with
My mate lives on a boat and he said he puts tin foil in the air fry and it's easier to keep clean, I never thought of that
I'll have a look into that mate 🙂 easy clean is always a good solution
Hi mate love the videos long time viewer
Just a thought maybe you could get a CCTV camera and screw it to your roof there's ones on eBay or Amazon that are solar powered and you can watch them live on your phone all's youd need to do is hotspot the camera to your phone or maybe some floodlights as added security.
Keep the videos coming
Kind regards
Chris Stoke on Trent ❤️
Cheers Chris 👍 yeh I've been looking at a few options regarding lighting and CCTV..it will definitely help. Plenty more adventures to come 🙂
You may want to carry a 900-mile laser pen pointer & a survival 6" blade knife to your hiking/camper kit as a defensive weapon. Tie your knife to a medium-sized tree branch about 4-5 feet long and you have a spare toward of any danger. The laser can blind any beast and be used for signaling.
Good fun again mate although I reckon Steve is trying to finish you off with those dodgy walks. Maybe he wants your van or air fryer? As for Bakewell, you a need deep pocket if you fancy having a tart! 😮
Also, in the USA at least, the van lifers try to form Caravans, for safety in umbers and traveling together. Some join many different groups so if they dont want to go with this group somewhere, they can meet ip with othersand travel together. Perhaps it might be helpful if you do so as well? Dont have to tell on utube thats what you are doing, but you are with a group. Stay safe Brendan, your friends andyour family too
Cheers for the advice mate 👍 with the UK being so small and the roads being so small as well it would probably cause more problems than it would solve to be fair but I would love to tour the US one day!
Do so! You can rent RVs here. But, a van is actually more stealth.
Hi there me and my fiancée left a lock on the bridge back In 2019
U need like a electric shock system lol if people try break in they get a massive shock
Who was the other camper? Does he have a channel?
Yes that's Steve 🙂 his channel is called Steve's monumental adventure 👍
Personally I would of carried on the mission because I never fail a mission..but this can also have it's problems which I use to thrive on whatever the outcome 😂😂..HD68, crowbar and censor lights on your vehicle is the way forward. Love your videos buddy.
That's fair enough and in hindsight I wish I did now as I don't think it was as far as the chaps we saw said it was... Gotta invest in some exterior lights on that van
@@BrendanExplores Always carry protection legally of course cos I can guarantee anyone who wants to do you wrong will have some kind of weapon.
Definitely be getting some decent LED lights at least front n back. I have dash cams on 24 7 whilst im away.
It is possible that it was completely innocent and you were being hyper sensitive and as you say cows brushing up the side of the van.
Don’t let these experiences put you off, just take precautions.
Yeh I think some external lighting is necessary mate 👍 yeh I guess there is an element of being hyper sensitive in a situation like that but there was definitely something weird going on with the spotlights etc. That road is literally in the middle of nowhere as well and for two vehicles in quick succession to go past around 1am is very unlikely. We managed to get atleast some sleep though so not all was lost
TURN BACK ABSOLUTELY!!!!! WET FEET IN ZERO TEMP IS VERY,VERY DANGEROUS
I agree, could of ended up being quite nasty that
When you return to Bakewell in the future there is 2 big Bakewell puddings there is a big version of like the one you had and there is one with pastry not icing get that one from the old original Bakewell pudding shop, yes there expensive but 100% worth it you can get them in either small large or medium
Is that what the shops called? The original Bakewell pudding shop? I would love to try one 🙂 thanks for the suggestion 👍
@@BrendanExplores yes that’s what the shops called you will only drive past it if you enter Bakewell from the chatsworth direction, it’s a old shop, infact speaking of it me and my mum will be going later to pick one up for my dads birthday as we live around 10 mins away
@@BrendanExplores when I get one later I can send a photo of it on insta if you want so you know aha
