This reminds me of pressing flowers with my grandmother when I was a child. We used blotting paper and put them in heavy books for a couple of months. We’d make cards out of them once they were dry. You’ve shown me yet another technique to try!🤗🇦🇺
Watching this has just reminded me to check my wild orchids which I picked and placed between two cookery books for just this purpose… Re gluing delicate objects, use your favourite glue that you would normally use to glue larger pieces. Put a blob on your sheet of silicone or a piece of paper, then using either a cut up makeup sponge, baby sponge etc etc dip said sponge in blob of glue and tap glue on your delicate die cut…..Then ‘Bob is your uncle and Fanny’s your aunt’❤ loving the card….
Beautiful card and technique!!! I I love watching you work and really appreciate that you share your thought process as you create your wonderful cards. Could you tell me what the plastic box is that you keep your magnetic sheets with the butterfly dies. Thank you so much for sharing.
I love this technique. Ever since you mentioned squishing flowers I have been obsessed with doing it. I have done some almost every day even though I don't have a garden. Don't worry I haven't been steeling peoples flowers, 🤣I have pots at my front door. You have wonderful techniques, more please
I can see my old green Cuttlebug which was going to a Grand Daughter will have to be retrieved from her box of goodies. I have snap dragons, petunias, status, lavender, daisies and grevillia flowering at the minute and am eager to give your technique a try!. I love the finished card; I'm sure you could rustle up a card out of the contents of my bin! You're so talented and you choose to gift your time to us! How generous, thank you. 💮 ❣💮
I have to say that was amazing, I have to sit down and look at things in a different way and hope I can get half the results you do. My best ideas pop into my head around 2:00 am and sit there until I give in and get out of bed. Thank you for sharing the pressed flowers technique. I also started out with a Cuttlebug and it was a great tool until they quit making the plates.
Hi Christine 🥰🙏🦘🦘🦘While I still have some small grevilleas in flower, I will get some from my garden & see how they turn out. I have giant freesias too & a lovely creeper with a purple flower. I'll also give some lavender and daisies a go! Thank you! I have a square flower press that I used to dry small flowers in to make bookmarks with acetate and crochet around the outside. Not many people read actual 📚📖these days, nor use diaries. I use my phone's diary. Think the tag idea will look wonderful, so maybe I will start up my old hobby again. A friend presses hers & adheres them to candles for Christmas gifts. So many crafty people out in cyberspace. Craft brings so much joy! TFS your gorgeous creations!💞
Very pretty and different. You are right in saying that the tag looks like designer paper with the addition of the stamping that you added. Very cool! Cheers from 🇨🇦Calgary, Alberta🇨🇦
Funny that you should come up with this! I've been thinking for a long time about making eco prints by doing this very thing! Thanks for paving the way...beautiful results!
It is amazing seeing such a difference in the tiniest part of your background papers, I’ve mention trying this idea in a previous comment, sometime back my husband came in to see what I was up to, he did an about turn seeing me with wads of kitchen towel mopping up saying “ I’ll leave you to it” 😊 needless to say my mess went into the waste bin. Your advice to let it dry gives such wonderful results! As the card you have made proves it. Once again thank you, another interesting video. Take care.
What a great card and idea. I have the cutterbug in the atic that I'm getting out for our Granddaughter to use. It was my first cutting machine. Love your butterflie collection. X
Hello christine . Very good ideato use whenthe sun will stop killing them all 😅. Magnifique tag . I thought the printing of the writing stamp was gold . Thank bye bye 👋👋👋
I haven't watched this yet as I wanted to tell you I squished my flowers and leaves in a die machine (using two sheets of cardstock with the flowers between - getting two prints per run)many years ago. It worked so well I pressed rosemary, daisies, autumn leaves and fresh green ferns and had so much fun. Didn't know what to do with the 'prints until I started your video and will try to find them - I can picture excellent Christmas cards with the dill and ferns! Now that I've gotten the sudden inspirational flash over, I'll settle down and watch as I want to see how you did yours. Finished the video and your card is WONDERFUL! I can't wait to play with this idea and thanks so much for this inspiration! We have a screened in pool and several dragon flies a day that die when they come in but can't find their way out. I tried for the first couple years to net them and release but it was NOT easy. I also discovered that holding a finger up high in the air attracted the dragonflies and they will land on your finger. I then walk to the screen door and go outside holding my finger up high then they fly away. The are suppose to eat around 150 mosquitoes a day so they are MY friends for sure. But I always wanted to do something with the wings from those that die and they may work as the top layer on your butterfly. Worth a try.
Thank you, I had given this a try when you mentioned this before, but not knowing which card to use. I tried a few different papers and card including photo paper, some worked beautifully, some stuck together with the plant juices working like glue in a couple of places but still had salvageable areas. I had a day off work and spent a couple of hours last Wednesday tidying my garden, collecting bits of plants, flowers, leaves and finding a good use for some of the weeds too. Turned out really interesting results. Thank you 😁❤
Chrissie, I had so looked forward to watching this video. Finally had an opportunity this evening and I certainly wasn’t disappointed. I have to admit, when you popped those two sheets of previous squishings on your table, I was quite disappointed. I felt they looked a bit too grungy and monotone to deliver anything elegant. How wrong was I?? What a superb demonstration of using your artists eye and the quite simple techniques you employed to choose an area to cut the tag from. Then the butterfly !!!! And then the embellishing with stamping and inking! I had such an enjoyable time watching it all come together. Beautiful, elegant, classic, yet contemporary. Several years ago I did squished flowers and leaves sandwiched just as you demo’d (with my Cuttlebug at the time). I had several big pots of pansies growing and chose to use some of them. Pansies squish the most glorious colours onto the cardstock - especially the deeply coloured purple and wine coloured ones. We are blessed greatly by all you share with us. Thank you!
That's a fast Flower Pressing! Should suit little impatient me! 😁 I still haven't found a butterfly die that I like. Memory Box is not easy to find here in Sweden. Really like the one with embossed stripes that you use now and then. Beautiful card, as always! 😇💖🙏🙌
Oh I love that, I was wondering before about your squished flower backgrounds, so glad you have shown us! I will have a go, also want to press flowers. Thanks for sharing ❤❤❤
Oh my goodness….if I had only known!!! I trimmed back all of my flowers 2weeks ago and had tons of stems I could have used for this!!! 😮 This is a beautiful card! ❤❤
Hi Christine. What a fun technique. I love it. And your cards are simply stunning. What a beautiful effect. Thank you for showing us a new way to add colour and texture. - Dawn 🌅
Absolutely stunning!!! I love this creative idea, Christine!! Thank you 😉 Seeing this first thing this morning has made my day! You spread such wonderful joy.❤
I had a go at this technique yesterday and one or two things didn't work too well, but the leaf prints were really interesting and I have cut them up now and am going to use one straight away. I am interested to see what you do with the new ones you have just made as the colours with the purple were very pretty. Thank you for inspiring us to give this technique a try Chrissie. x
Hi Christine! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!! If you said it, I didn't catch which butterfly die this is from Memory Box. Would you be so kind as to share that with me. It's a lovely one! Take Care! We're holding onto our hats here in Long Beach - a hurricane is headed our way. First one since 1939!
I liked the effect of this technique but it was too messy for me but it made me to try something. I put some lobelia flowers on the scanner of my copier (Canon Pixma) and copied them. It’s still a work in progress but I’ll sponge some colour on it. I’m also going to save the images to manipulate on my computer to maybe get a sepia finish. Thanks for the inspiration.
Hi. Thank you for sharing this outstanding technique, the results you have there are truly fabulous. I love the colour of your hydrangea. I don't suppose you know the variety of it, do you? I could be wrong but I think what you referred to as a weed may well be a type of salvia, one of the deeper coloured ones and very pretty. Your card is going to be absolutely stunning when its finished, thanks again for another super, instructive video and jave a great day.😊
The Cuttlebug was my very first machine and their first die cutting machine, which is green just like yours! I still have mine as well, haven't used it in years though. Thanks for showing how you did these backgrounds! There wasn't any flickering at all that I noticed. The backgrounds turned out stunning! I love your card and the spot you picked to die cut. Gorgeous, just gorgeous! Hugs, Brenda
Mine too, I still have it, plus my spellbinders…though I have the tiny electric gemini,as well as the junior and the next size up. All three I bought second hand off ebay in immaculate condition ,for less that what it would cost for a new one of either size..(just a bit of useless information lol)……yet I still reach for my cuttle bug when I am die cutting xx❤
@@badsworthcats I have two Cuttlebugs in fact, I really like them but the Platinum 6 is just a little larger. I also have Big Shot Plus and Switch!😀😀😀😀😀
♥️It!!! You just reminded me to use my dried flowers to make a card, Thanks Ms. Chrissie. How awesome is that, to get freebies from a magazine subscription, of course it only happens in the UK. When I used sponge daubers all were labelled with their designated colours. I mentioned in a video that I must do just what you suggested, but as yet I don’t have enough blending brushes to have one for each colour, but that I have ordered some more…. So in time! If you message me I can give you my email address!
I have put violas in my wooden flower presses for years but never thought of using my old cuttlebug. I learn something new from you every day, it seems. Will try this idea as well. 😊
What a fun technique with such wonderful results. We've just had much needed rains, so will be patient and pick some flowers in a couple days to try this. Stunning card! Thank you.
The red sizzix with the pull down handle was my first machine followed by the Cuttlebug which I still have. I love your ideas for pressing flowers. The results are quite unique. x
Once again wonderful new ideas with which to play! Also greetings on a gorgeous day in Union Bridge, Maryland! In the flowers you pressed for this video there was a good degree of color on the paper from the leaves and flowers. Does that color remain or does it all fade to the lovely brown tones over time? I love the images either way but would love to know how stable the colors are in your experience.
Thanks for your inspiration with this technique. I made some paper with flowers and twigs from my Crape Myrtle. If there is a way to share a picture with you, please let me know.
1. This is lovely. 2. A weed is just a plant where you don't want it. 3. That's the prettiest hydrangea color I have ever seen.
Thanks so much 😊😊😊
Ms.Chrissie, I truly believe you were born for card making. The way you come up with all these new great ideas are simply Extraordinary, ♥️♥️♥️it!!!
You are so welcome❤️❤️❤️
ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS TECHNIQUE and will use it for a thank you to "memorialize" a bouquet I was gifted. BRILLIANT idea!
Wonderful!
