    What solo does the Charlie Parker enclosure lick come from?

    • @NathanBortonMusic
      @NathanBortonMusic  4 месяца назад +1

      Great question! Originally I heard this line from grant green, but after some listening I could hear it's from bird (as grant based a lot of his language on bird's lines). You can hear him use variations of this lick (as it's mostly just ornamentations of a major triad) over a lot of his rhythm changes solos (as he is thinking key center based over the A sections sometimes). Listen to Moose the mooch or Anthropology to hear this idea!

    My logical brain is having difficulty with the diminished lick. In the first bar you have an A flat. In the second bar you have an A natural, G natural and G flat. I'm trying to figure out what scale this all is. I'd appreciate any help.

    • @NathanBortonMusic
      @NathanBortonMusic  4 месяца назад +1

      Yes! That is a cool one. All I’m doing there is playing the triads out of the diminished scale (in this scale C whole half diminished. The triads are Ab, B, D, F) after I walk up the Ab triad, I walk down the diminished scale. There should be a video linked in the corner of the screen that explains the diminished idea more. Thanks!

      @@NathanBortonMusic Thanks for sharing your thinking here. Diminished stuff is always so interesting and, for me still, confusing. I'll check out the other video.
