A total joy to watch. Inspirational even without owning the coveted Leica. The photos are gorgeous, but so is the narrative, the editing, and the message - the deep satisfaction of creative expression. Thanks so much for this!
VIDJACK So glad you enjoyed it, man - and as always: thanks so much for your continuing encouragement. 🙏🏻❤️
Great vid Hugh!!!! 10/10! ... from Mexico!
I could write a short essay here. But I’ll only say this. Calling the M an “extraordinary photographic companion.” That word “companion” perfectly fitting your intent. The walking-back frames neither looking to the past nor propelling to the future. But always in the present. The recreation of Eisenstaedt’s kiss on Times Square; but making it your creation. Your personal homage. Your precise - so exact - re-creation of Eisie carrying his M. Claudia’s hair. The authentic joy in your expression. Your photography. Claudia’s cinematography. And what you said in the beginning. “Set your intention, and then...go.”
We know we love you, Philip.
I’m so thankful to have found your channel. You make such amazing content that really makes me want to get out there and take photography to another level. Thank you.
Thank YOU, Ernest. 😊🖖🏻
Fantastic video to watch. What a joy to have a city like this and a passion and joy to experience and capture. Thank you for making this.
Eric Linneman It was our joy
Great Stuff Hugh & Claudia. I liked seeing the moments you asked to take peoples photos and the outcome of the shot... but not without keeping us a waiting for a bit first.
We all need more content like this! Thanks for doin' it.
🙏🏻
Well that inspired me to pull out my Eisenstaedt on Eisenstaedt book which has had a prominent place on my shelf for decades. Thanks for that!
😊👍🏻🖖🏻
I just love how I can click on a video and not be screamed at...and how you do your lighting... This channel is refreshing!
🙏🏻
Hugh - this was by far one of the most inspiring sessions I have seen here on RUclips - thank you so much for that! Though not living next to NY (actually, living next to Wetzlar...) it has confirmed to me that being curious for life and eagerness to get in touch with people, along with compassion and empathy are the best ingredients to create good pictues. Let‘s keep living in the here and now, in the presence - and create the decisive moment, not waiting and wasting time with technobabbel, pixelpeeping and so forth...and excuses...thank you! All the best from Frankfurt, Germany, Michael
I LOVE this! Thank YOU!
Absolutely fantastic! Great job and Leica should hire you...👍👏Greetings from Germany
Enno Fehse 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Great video! I see it today, monday. It will carry my mind the whole week to the sky. And will give me a smile in my face.
😊🙏🏻
I always have enjoyed your videos but you definitely outdid yourself on this one Hugh... Definitely my favorite. Great job as always. Inspiring
🙏🏻
Terrific..... You had to re-ignite my GAS.... Beautifully done Hugh, inspiring.
🙏🏻😊
I just like your work. Splendid!
Big Beard Thanks man!
Blown away as usual. More please! 😀

Just...outstanding.
Stephen! 🙏🏻
I loved this. That it was a labor of love clearly came through. And as a viewer, this is what a good day of photography feels like, regardless of the equipment, the location, or the subject.
Scott Magoon 😊🙏🏻
I appreciate your meditative videos. I like the deliberate thoughts you present to us here.
Glad to be of service. 😊🙏🏻
Great work.. one of the best videos I've watched lately!!
Man, I absolutely love your content. The mix of modernity and tradition, poetry and rock and roll, colour and Black and White. In a time when everybody focus on gear just for the sake of it you are elevating those little dream boxes we call cameras to another level. Fantastic video.
We so appreciate your encouragement. Thank you!
Very very nicely done.
Very cool. You should do more videos like these. Nicely done, bravo !
🙏🏻😊🖖🏻
Well done you guys! Your presentation brought tears of joy as I watched it.
😍
I love your work. Always a great source of inspiration. And from next Sunday, I have the joy and privilege of walking through the streets of New York City for a week with the Leica Q2 and the Fuji X-T3. I will keep an eye on discovering you somewhere in the heart of the big apple at work. And if it is a coincidence, I would like to invite you for a coffee. Greetings from Germany
Mike Mayer Enjoy!!
Beautifully edited and crafted; as usual voice over is sensational; one of my favorite videos on your channel. Thank you for the amazing content ❤️
🙏🏻😊🙏🏻
Absolut amazing video. Great work from you and Claudia 👍 greetings from Germany
🙏🏻 Hello, Germany!
You make me speechless. Thank for this great work. Frank Berlin
We so appreciate your encouragement!
Very nice. I especially like the Empire State Building (?) photograph. What focal length did you use ?
I don’t have the EXIF data with me, but it was probably the 35 Summicron.
@@3BMEP Thank you very much for taking the trouble to reply. Greetings from Singapore, exactly 12 hours ahead of you and only 18 hours nonstop by Singapore Airlines !
Wow Hugh!!! I totally loved this!!! Color me inspired....📸😇
Delighted you enjoyed it!
Fun to watch... it must have been fun doing this one!
J. Ashley Nixon It was! 🥰
Marvelous Video! Greetings from Cologne, Germany
Hello, Cologne! We loved it when we were there last year for Photokina! 🙏🏻😊
4,5 min of beauty, creativity and a few (quote size) educational bits from the other side of the world...
Simply fabulous!
🙏🏻😊
I want a leica m10p so badly... but i'm broke. Maybe one day, when i ll be a famous photograper 🤷🏼♂️.
This is a very beautiful video! I loved it
Late to the party but discovered this video while checking out your M11 review. Two things, Eisie was my inspiration in picking up a camera again and switching to rangefinders (Leica) and second, I think I want to get a Visoflex for my M10 now lol Thanks for sharing! BTW,I'll probably want to get an M11 now lmao
Very Nice! HE is still one of my faves & a fine job you did here too.
The Great Vanzinni! 🙏🏻
Worthy of a film festival entry, IMHO. But I wish there were music credits considering since sound was an integral part of this. This short could win something in a festival!
Great piece. Really enjoyed the Kelby Walk on the 5th.
San Francisco Discovery so glad you could join us!
Hugh!!!! Fantastic film! I just watched this four times back to back at 6am and Im so motivated to get out and take some photos today with my new companion M9 its my very first Leica though I have been a photographer for years. I have only taken a few photos since I traded my Z6 for it and already my Fuji Xpro2 and D850 and GH4 have been relegated to the back of the bus because I feel better when I have this camera with me. Warm love and greetings from Los Angeles to you my friend!
Enjoy!
Made me wanna go back to NYC. Made me wanna own a Leica ... oh .. wait ... I've always to own a Leica. Thanks for four minutes of joy watching video. 🙂
Ed! ❤️
New York is a gorgeous place to do street. I was there last year and shot nine rolls of CineStill 800T on my M5 with a Canon 50mm f1.4 LTM.
love the images. had a M8, had to sell it for the family business, would give anything to have one again. Fantastic representation of a classic.
🙏🏻
Always enjoy your videos.
We are so bombarded with images nowadays where is the market for street photography.
In Eisenstaedts day it was unusual and printed in magazines, and the photographers got paid.
Leonard Davis too right!
Well done Claudia and Hugh love the B&H.
Dallas Thomas We love B&H too - but I guess you mean B&W? 😉
Yes how silly of me Black and White@@3BMEP
Great stuff - more of this please ;-)
😊
Great video, cool music :-)
Loved it!
Jeff Schemmer Jeff! ❤️
Hugh, great work, as always. What was the name of the band whose music you used?
Backwards, by Staffan Carlén.
I loved this! Thank you. I’ve never had the opportunity to own and shot with Leica but have always wanted to for the deep senses expressed here. I came close with an all too short of time of owning a Hasse 500cm. Have loved shooting my nikons in full manual. Those experiences lead me to believe that a Leica M is for me. But, as a minister and part time pro shooter that isn’t likely to happen. Again, thank you!
Thank YOU!
Wow, just awesome!
So glad you enjoyed it!
simply beautiful.
Already looking forward to “The Eisenstaedt Strikes Back” . Good soundtrack too!
This is quality - love it.
🙏🏻😊
This is inspiring. Please give me an example of exactly what you say when you ask a person to make a photo of them. I've been shooting in Manhattan for 40 years and have not done that. It's intriguing to watch.
simply great
🙏🏻😊
Hell yes! 👏👏👏
Beautiful style. Your intro voice over is perfect for your next x-pro3 video ;-)
Lance Larkin 😉
Thank you!
Hugh, I love the material you produce and au was a big fan of an earlier homage but I have to say this one felt more like a product placement. I live Leica and their kit and glass. I love the artisan ship of the way images need to be created - Leica is not easy, it need thought, preparation and technique. Your channel is an outstanding contribution to our medium. I look forward to meeting you and having that discussion, including a glass of something. Keep up the great work!
Apologise for the spellers!
Stephen W Dunn Thanks for the kind words, Stephen. As we note at the beginning and in the show notes, this was sponsored by Leica, but the content is 100% our own - as always. 😊
Three Blind Men and An Elephant Productions. Yip. Got it. Still a great video. What I love is the considered approach you both have. NY like many great cities create a wonderful background for photography!
Awesome. What more do you need if you want to walk NYC and make some photos.
Thanks much Hugh, for really great NY black & white shots. Are they JPEGs images?
Charles Gauthier B&W are almost always JPEG; color almost always DNG. 😊
I loved it.
Subhash Roy 🙏🏻😊
Awesome!
🙏🏻😊
Awesome done ❤️❤️❤️
🙏🏻🙏🏻
Wonderful 😊☮
If my wife catches me watching this video, she knows what’s coming...
😜
My first comment ever. WOW, very impressive. Thanks.
Thanks, Marty!
BRAVO !!!
🙏🏻
EPIC EPIC EPIC....!!!
PhotoZen 🥰🙏🏻
Great movie. B&W movies are just different. I heard once the quote: "Colour film catches peoples clothes, b&w captures their soul". Think this was an evidence of that truth.
🙏🏻😊
Great video! Anyone catch the lens being used?
At various points on the stills side: Leica Elmar-M 24; Leica Summicron-M 35; Leica Summicron-M 50; Leica Summilux-M50; Leica Summarit-M 75.
Fabulous video - what was music track at the end please ??
There's an app for that! It's called Shazam. Shazam sez: Backwards, by Staffan Carlén.
Nice video shooting Claudia
👍🏻
Will there be a M11 R P model? You going to wait for M11 R P?
Nope.
@@3BMEP some ppl say the black aluminium should be cheaper as brass is high quality material
Who or what defines a photograph vs a snap shot?
Wow, so good I've had to watch it twice already. There's just something about black and white video, can you keep Claudia set to B&W :-)
Julian Devine 😊🙏🏻🙏🏻She’s all over B&W as I write this! Check out her Instagram feed: @sophieparker39
"Salutations To Thee", Sir.
A good one ... Cheers!
😊🙏🏻
Well done.
Good, fun movie. I liked Claudia's hair shot (assuming it was her, looked like a G9).
Jason Hannigan it was; and it was. 👍🏻😎
Love the log...
Not submitting to any brand...
Fair enough!
❤️🖤🖤
A patreon subscription just made.
Stephen W Dunn Thanks so much Stephen - welcome!
Had no idea you were tall!
Hah!
@@3BMEP On the edge of my seat for that Sigma FP review..
The comments left here are far too one-sided. You’re just going to give Hugh a fat head. And he doesn’t need that.
OK... Hey, Hugh, that sucked! Nice camera tho.
lol.
shoot all your vids in BW. they're lovely, and done right...
Lyle Stavast 🙏🏻😊

Michael, your comment is a joy in and of itself. Thank you, my new friend from Frankfurt. :)
@@3BMEP Thanks Hugh - really appreciate that - and whenever you visit Wetzlar, please drop me a note and we can meet if you want!
