I wish I knew this. My XS Max broke and they put an LCD on my phone. I no longer have 3D Touch, true-tone and my brightness is weird now. Also, the panel is a bit thicker so it is raised up a bit above the frame of my phone, so when I’m holding it, sometimes I touch things I don’t mean to because it’s no longer flat. It’s not the worst thing, but it’s definitely not as nice as the screen this phone came with.
True tone will normally stop working with another display. Unless you get one from apple themselfes or let apple repair it true tone will be lost be it lcd or oled

Always go OLED if possible. The main issue with putting an LCD screen on an iPhone that came with an OLED panel is that the phone wasn’t designed initially to have an LCD panel, and on top of that some screen manufacturers tend to cut major corners with LCD panels causing the logic boards to damage.

@@michaelrytel2389 Oh but they have. The iPhone logic boards that have OLED screens have a different layout for connectors made for panels that don’t have back lights. I could go on and on but you can’t roll the risk of damaging a board. Just look it up lmao

I’ve been using my iPhone XR for 2 years and some change and my screen never cracked ❗️ despite dropping and constant water damage WITHOUT screen protector! I’m typing this on my water damaged phone now lol 😭 this phone is VERY durable

Fun fact: I’m literally about 2 minutes away from putting a new screen on this very iPhone X I am writing this on now. Pretty sure it’s an LCD, but oh my god I am so done with the pink and green lines on my OLED that at this point I really don’t mind lol

@@asianking187 I did it, and it worked perfectly! The LCD is not as good as the OLED was to look at. But, nicer than those lines. The LCD I purchased wasn’t that good, so I got a bunch of pressure marks pretty quick. But all in all, it worked well

My iPhone X has a replaced display it’s a LCD, what I noticed is that the blacks on this screen is not that deep it almost looks like the LCD display of the IP XR.
I replaced my XS OLED with LCD and it works great i have no worries about Burn display

Great video. Had to order an lcd for an xs max I feel guilty but had to for the budget of the family member who needed a new phone. Also you forgot to mention that you should look out for true tone repair. As some shops don't have the required programmer. In my case I'm stocking up all the tools now before I open my first store.

So is it true that the OLED screen won’t last as long as a LCD? I have heard that iPhone LCD can last several years longer than OLED because it’s lifespan is significant shorter? If so, can this be solved by replacing the screen?
That’s with older OLED screens that tended to burn in. This is bc OLED screens have individual light emitting pixels for each colour and some can wear out before others. Apple was quite strict with how they did their OLEDs and waited for a bit before jumping from LCD. As a result, you can google it, the risk of burn is minimal and even less the Samsung S line phones. If you have an OLED iPhone just enjoy the screen it comes with, no need to downgrade to LCD. If you haven’t even noticed burn in you have no reason to consider changing the screen. Burn in usually happens if one thing is left on at high brightness for too long.

I have an iPhone X and one day my son grabbed it off my bed and Frisbeed it at the wall it cracked a little bit but still worked. Then it got dropped on the tile floor and hasn't worked since. It powers on and picture still looks good... but.. I can't unlock it or use the screen at all... so does that mean the digitizer needs replaced too? There are no OLED screens for the iPhone XR, you probably have an iPhone XS or 11 Pro
Learned this the hard way got a lcd screen no true tone and the nits are very low maybe 800nots max. Feel used imao but most iphone repairs outside of apple rhiis how it goes. Lesson learned

I had a shop repair my old iPhone X and the oled they used was way worse in color and refresh rate. It’s was super laggy and the colors were faded. There must be different “oem” quality screens.

Man I feel stupid so I put an LCD screen in my phone and it supposed to take an OLED. After watching your video I thought wow this guy really has some good screens so I hopped on your website and purchased one I canceled the other three orders that I had for screens because I was under the impression that yours was the best. A week and a half later it arrived. So I’m super excited I open it up and I find it has no instructions which I don’t need is has no seal To attach the screen to the back housing. It is super thick way thicker than my other LCD. The sticker on the back of the screen says made in China in the box itself says LCD screen so I definitely feel like I just got ripped off
Man I feel stupid I ordered a second screen I got screwed again in the video it says a premium OLED screen not a hard OLED screen for $105 I can buy that anywhere for around 50 to 75 and have way faster shipping oh and they don’t have any customer support they’re basically based out of China and use social media only to sell their products

I had google pixel 3a xl with oled for 2.5 years after upgrade android 12 battery drain so bad. It’s great OLED for display no scratch… now pixel 6a has oled screen…come soon on July summer

Two things, crazy how you don't mention the one and true proven and simple method to determine if the screen was switched for LCD... LCD can't display black. The best it can do is a very very dark grey/blue shade. While OLEDs can display a true black because the technology allows individual pixels to literal turn off, unlike LCD. So.. just open an image that has a large amount of black.
Also another major point.. an LCD screen can cost $50-100. While OLEDs usually cost $150-250. So if you got your phone repaired for $120. You really can't complain lol. Otherwise your OLED repair would cost 1/3-1/2 your phones value and you'd like not paid for it anyways lol. And if you were given the option between the two prices.. c'mon.. 99% of people are going to openly choose LCD.
Only time you should replace with original OLED is if the phone is literally months old. And in that situation, you really shoulda had the phone covered under insurance. I never bought insurance for any of my phones up until the last 4 years, and exactly because of OLED screen costs. I used to make a ton of side money repairing phones for a good while, stopped around 2019 once phones started going OLED.

Basically, the easiest and fastest way to know if your iphone had a genuine screen is to see if it has the option to turn on True Tone (Settings > Display & Brightness > True Tone)

Lcd has far worse battery life then oled
Less battery longevity but it's not prone to burn-in if you see yourself with the screen on for prolonged hours. Amoled looks much nicer overall tho

No, but even if you don it Apple it won't.

They both produce the same kind of light, but the OLED has individually lit pixels. This allows pixels that are black to turn off. The minimum brightness is also lower because of this. Because some pixels can be off, it is the OLED display that is better for the eyes. On iPhones there is software that can decrease the brightness automatically in low-light situations. It can also decrease the blue light given off by the screen; which is the main culprit for eye strain with screens. (These settings can be found in Settings> Display and Brightness> True tone & Night Shift) Hope this helps!

@@laylah7806 you’re not getting eye strain because of the OLED you’re getting eye strain from overuse, high brightness in low light environments. Cool damaging whites in the dark. don’t make the mistake of getting an lcd panel. Go with the licensed Apple OLED 6.1” panel. For two reasons:
1. Apple equipment will not have a problem working together, getting an off brand lcd screen may not work on the 12 Pro
2. LCD and OLED are the same thing, a screen, if anything the LCD would cause more strain because it does not allow for true blacks.
If you’re struggling with eye strain I recommend reading my reply to @Aniimey For You. In that reply I provide some options to fix any problems you’re having. Don’t waste your money, keep the stock screen.
