The story of this dog track is mysterious and difficult to find, having been all but erased from history. After doing over a years worth of research, I believe I have learned enough to warrant writing this article.

Kurt Russell was the pilot who called the sighting of the Phoenix Light's in when he was flying his own plane.....i remember him being interviewed well afterwards and the person was askin him all silly questions, but I distinctly remember him having this strange look and saying...."the weirdest part about it all was that I didn't remember any of it until i saw something on the news about it".... And the person like totally ignored what he may have been implying. Very strange

But he seemed to be implying that his memory was somehow wiped clean and didn't remember a thing about it until he saw it on the nightly news. Or maybe what he saw impacted his brain in such a way that happens to some people that suffer certain trauma that they have issue recalling whatever happened to them. Like their brain somehow blocks the trauma by blocking the memory?? But I like the mystery of the idea that something else may have caused the memory loss. So yeah. That's that. I escaped from California to Loveland Colorado 16 years ago and then there was a Dog track next to I-25 and I bet it was the one mentioned by you in this story. It has long since been torn down and a Hospital built on the land. Just some extra trivia for you all.

We just received the good news that they'll be bringing fiber optics my way within the next 2 months so I'll be able to do live hangouts and have clear video calls from home. It was awesome place to grow up as a kid though; it had lots of open area, and the forest was great to roam in with my friends, motorcycles, and guns. Areas in the forest around my neighborhood are completely overrun with houses. I know it’s changed, but used to be quite nice; well , 30+ years ago.
Also born and raised in flagstaff, my kids 6th generation her in flagstaff and I have never heard of this either . Crazy. Good 1 Richie.

Great story! I lived in Flagstaff for 3 years, graduated from NAU in 92 and never heard this story. You should look into the Museum Club. I tended bar there for 2 years and can verify it is truly haunted and has a very colorful history.

In Emmett Idaho there is a river which has a large DAM CALLED "BLACK CANYON DAM"..I recently was told by a friend that long ago (idk how long) the white man came and took the town from Indians who were living there, and they were all hung on the trees all along side this river!!! Its UPSET ME TERRIBLY ever since I heard this...Its HORRIBLE...me and my children spent last 20+ years floating and swimming down this river beautifully lined with trees. (Which once had people hanging dead on) :( FYI there is only ONE GROCERY STORE IN THIS TOWN. BUT A CHURCH IS ON EVERY BLOCK..SOMETIMES TWO PER BLOCK ?????

I remember when I was a kid, my Dad took us boys to the same track. We witnessed a stunt plane dive over the track while a race was in progress! The dogs scattered all over the place...but it didn't end there... the track workers re-asembled the dogs, the bell rang..dogs took off running..and the same plane swoops over REAL CLOSE !!! The pilot screwed up, and slammed into the infield and burst into flames! True story people! This happened in 73 or 74.🌵👍
Love this! One place I never got to see is AZ. I had one chance but got a gut feeling I would not make it back somehow, so I declined. I was only 20 so God probably protected me.❤

Great video Richie! My husband, who was a heavy equipment operator before retiring in 2008, just told me he actually worked a job at that track in 1967 getting ready for re-opening! Small world! Wow quite a story and probably true. Sometime ago I used to work for a man that was a millionaire out of Washington State. He flew me in and out of Yuma Arizona. To take care of property he had there. He introduced me to a man that had the mineral rights there. He was a multi-millionaire. When he came to Yuma there was nothing there but dirt cheap desert. His first wife divorcing him because she thought he was crazy for buying land there. He sold some of the land and kept the mineral rights. He laughed and told me his ex-wife doesn't think he's so crazy now. And then he laughed.

Great to hear from you! I lived in AZ for 4 years, a while ago. Everyone had great stories about the early days with stories passed down in families. This one sounds like it's very probable. And, they don't tell outsiders the good ones. It's all kept quiet.
It would be easy to find death records on that date plus cemetery headstones. Can’t hide 900 plus bodies.
