    Thanks so much for the tutorial! I've accidentally saved this patch in the help file page. Is there any way to get it back to the default hi object help page?

      classic! here's a screenshot of the help patch, shouldn't be too hard to patch it up. (imgur)/a/qLu1no0

    I keep coming back to this video. It's so informative and clear! I have a suggestion and a question though.
    This video covers so much, so it might be handy to put links in the description to different points of the video where you talk about different things.
    And, this wasn't covered in your video, but I'm having a hard time looking for the answer elsewhere, and you seem like the right person to ask about this: Once the message on the udpreceive comes through, how might I extract the number element, say for use on a slider or something?

      I believe [unpack] might work

    Hi Zeal, awesome vid bro, love your work.. Unfortunately I'm having massive dramas trying to get Max to get data from PS4 controller (Max for Live, Osx Catalina) It sees the controller but no data comes out. Tried so many different patches i.e. Little Scale's one, test patches etc. Massive drag, any ideas? P.S> I have got my Attack 3 working no hassles at all. Cheers man.

    Hey man ty for this amazing tutorial, very helpful!
    I would be so glad if u could see this message, cause I have a beginners question about how to make hi object to see pheripherals? Especially the, so to speak, “natives” of a laptop: trackpad and keyboard? Shouldn’t hi object automatically locate these? Since they’re are already connect hardwares?
    Dk if I could make myself clear or if it’s a very stupid question, but anyway I think should try ask
    Thanks in advance

      Hi @Murillo, if I recall correctly, this is handled differently by different operating systems. It would be worth having a poke around on the Cycling 74 forums to confirm. I remember there are some externals for accessing Mac sensors light light sensor, shock, battery etc. (edit: here: www.iamas.ac.jp/~aka/max/). Although they are quite old. You can also get the keyboard and mouse with their dedicated objects. And of course, you can use another framework like processing or openframeworks and pipe the data over to Max via OSX.

    Great video, although i have a question, (sorry if it is obvious) how do you then insert a sound or sample for each button after mapping them? And how do you setup the device such as the playstation controller with a DAW? If i have a pc running windos 10, do i need any other program apart from Max 7? Thank you very much!! Very useful video.

    Hey Zeal, very nice video, I have watched couple times and I pulled mine afterwards. I was wondering if you had a chance to use it via bluetooth on Max, it seems PS3 controller is not getting recognized by Max

    • @zealco
      @zealco  4 года назад

      Tolga Zafer Ozdemir I had Bluetooth working fine with my official ps3 controller. Could never get the knock offs to work. Pairing was always a bit finicky in either case.

      @@zealco Now I have a suspicion that controller I am working on is not official. Moreover I do not get the continuous rotation values :) Nevertheless, your video worked great for me 🙏🏽

    Hi! Great video thanks, very well explained for someone new to coding and Max like me. I use Ableton and have successfully made a Max patch that extracts all the info from my controller, and I can map these to a simple M4L patch (that can select and launch clips) in ableton, but the controller only works when the patch is open to edit. Once it is closed the HID stream seems to not get through to the M4L within Live. So how do you overcome this? Many thanks!

      Just got this to work using the OSC thingamy described in the video which is great. Is this the best way to do it? Now I'd like to map to any parameter in live easily! Trying to pull apart M4L devices that do this - tricky looking stuff!

    can i just ask, how do you actually get the ps3 controller to connect to the pc for max to recognise it? Do you use the DS3 software? Thanks

    • @zealco
      @zealco  8 лет назад +3

      I just bind directly to OSX via bluetooth without using any other software. I found non-official controllers didn't bind properly. I also needed to connect a usb cable first for binding to work. It could be different on PC.

      zeal also, when I use the analogs to control a slider or dial, it starts mid way in between the range of 0 and 65535 because the joystick is based in the middle, is there a way you can use the joystick to turn in a clockwise rotation to control the dial. Thanks a lot.
