Awesome job, Jordan! The only thing I would have done differently is put the boot on the wire before crimping on the connecter. Then you can just slide the boot down in place. Very cool project though.
The Z is looking great! Thanks for all of the guidance. looking forward to seeing the engine pulled out and bay painted. Any reason you got an 8 cylinder set vs a 6? Is it because the pro series doesn’t come in a 6 cylinder version or the 8 because the 7th is for the coil as mentioned? I don’t know, maybe the sets don’t usually include one for that. Thanks!
The main reason is because this is what I found on Amazon, I’m actually not sure if they sell a 6 wire kit but it was useful having an 8 wire kit so that I could do some practice and not worry about messing up. Thanks for watching and for the comment :)
Lonely driver on Instagram! They are super nice pieces but you’ll have to check to see if they’re available, they only come in limited batches most of the time :) instagram.com/lonelydrivercompany?
Hey Jordan, thanks again for the great info. I just completed my wires and ordered the Crane Wire Holder from Lonely Drivers Club. Can you share which ignition system you used on the 280 or if you have a video of the switch from stock?
Glad to hear it man! Actually I did make a video on it, it’s a little pricey but one of my favorite mods on the car to date. Check it out :) ruclips.net/video/nEhEeJo97zU/видео.html
@@JordanPayneLV Oh nice, where did you end up routing the breather hose from the tank? I accidentally broke my canister while replacing vacuum lines so I've been weighing out my options haha. And thank you for the content! Just the right amount of in depth without watching an hour long video. 👍
@@alex.jennings My 1973 240Z has a "flow guide valve" mounted below the ignition coil. There are three hoses attached to the valve. Crankcase, fuel tank and base of the air cleaner housing. When that valve started to malfuction, my engine started to idle rough and ran poorly when the tank was close to 3/4 full. I also had to pry the gas cap off of the filler neck to fill the tank! As you alluded to, a vacuum was being pulled in the gas tank because of the stuck valve. I removed the valve and gave it a few shots of carb cleaner and no more problems.
My brake lights seem to be operating normally, why? (Oh you mean my emergency brake? Oh yeah the little switch that turns the dash light off is kinda finicky)

Wow, I can’t believe that the instructions didn’t suggest that; that would have been so much easier!
Clean car!!
Thank you!
Thanks again Jordan, just did my wires and ordered the wire holder from Lonely Drivers Club
Nice Jordy!
Uncle Marty thanks for stopping by 🙌🏻🙌🏻❤️
Very cool videos!
This was very helpful to be honest
Use to have these on my 280zx you will never need another spark plug wire they are really great. currently iam running NGK wires.
So far so good! :)
Where did you get the holder on the front of the engine you are passing the wires and fuel line through I have been looking for something like that
I got them from a guy on Instagram called lonely driver. He sells them as “swan neck” mounts

@@JordanPayneLV Motorsport Auto has these wires for the Z
@@shanetyler9391 ah I didn’t realize!
Will this also work for L20B for a 510? Was thinking to buy the DSI spark plug wires but they run $150
Yes it will 👌🏻
Where did the polished wire guides on the front of the cam cover come from?
A guy on Instagram by the name lonely driver company, they only sell them on a limited basis so I’m not sure if they’re still available

Hey where did you get your fan shroud from?
It’s the stock 280z one but I spray painted it silver!
Hey Jordan! Out of curiosity, did you delete the EVAP charcoal canister? Or relocate it?
Hey thanks for watching, I deleted it :)

@@alex.jennings I just capped it off, I’m not sure what consequences that brings but I haven’t had any problems since :)
@@JordanPayneLV Hmm I would say as long as your tank has another source of ventilation it should be okay. Thanks for the information. Appreciate it! 👍

Does your brake light stay on?

@@manuelatallah7127 yeah I’m running into all kinds of small wiring problems so I might just have to redo the whole thing *sigh* lol
@@JordanPayneLV likely easier to just snip that wire...
@@manuelatallah7127 yeah true!
Ignition coil down below equals water ignition coil up high equals dry
Ahhh good to know! It doesn’t rain much here in vegas but important definitely keep that in mind
Do you have an Instagram so i can chat you when im able to buy the car im just waiting on someone 🤣
