    Could it be possible that the dark soul was the main source of fuel for the first flame to continue on burning for eternity, but when the pygmy took it, the flame could no longer sustain itself?

    • @lsfaraone
      @lsfaraone 8 лет назад +274

      Considering the Pygmy found it within the flame, it's possible. Humanity is the pieces and remnants of the dark soul, and thus feeding the fire this missing piece satiates it. Never thought about that

      @Fright Wright unfortunately that's probably not the case. The Ringed City DLC confirmed that the Dark Soul was actually found about the same time as the rest. The Ringed Knights fought beside the rest but Gwen feared the Dark Soul and placed the curse upon humans to limit their power. Basically the curse is because Gwen didn't want humanity to take over after his age of fire ended.

    • @leoncoben6983
      @leoncoben6983 Год назад +3

      Isn't the point of the Lords of Cinder to reignite the First Flame as well as Kindling it? It's why the second game alternate ending is to simply the Throne instead of taking it, as taking it means you'll now become either yet another Undead that gives themselves to the Flame or leave to begin an Age of Dark, but even the Age of Dark has to end, and it's end is with the Reignition of the First Flame by those who reject the Dark because the Undead Curse is still in effect and thus the cycle continues. Leaving the Throne was symbolizing the desire to break that cycle between Fire and Dark and to continue traveling the world to find a permanent solution.

    • @TheLostOne3243
      @TheLostOne3243 Год назад +5

      @@leoncoben6983 Thing is, if my memory serves me right, the canon ending of the first two games is and always was the linking of the fire. The age of dark never happened until ds3, which is why it's the last one, cuz the age of fire is over. And lords of cinders are those who ONCE linked the flame.
      And i recall seeing that gwyn actually linked humans to the flame and forced it to be its kindle, hence, making the flame leech off humanity and brings forth the curse. If you let the flame fade, humanity will "grow" back its soul and become the heirs of the dark age. If i remember correctly.

    • @hpmasterswagestgames985
      @hpmasterswagestgames985 6 месяцев назад +2

      That is quite the simple solution. I don’t know why everyone keeps on grasping towards the old age of fire. It was a time that was meant to pass and not stay permanently. Yet because the of the curse or Gwyns fear of darkness such curse exists until the 3rd part which is like 1000 or so years after Gwyn linked the fire himself.

      The Milfanito are clearly sad and miserable though, and they live in squalor, and the Finito note that they "weave death," which likely means that they murder people. Nito's own covenant in Dark Souls 1 mainly seemed to be geared for tormenting others with Gravelord enemies, and even tormenting the Gravelord Servants by forcing them to sit around with no idea what was happening, all the while hoping that if they got invaded it wasn't by someone using an eye stone. Also, Humanity does exist in Dark Souls 2, in the form of the Human Effigies.

    In terms of the game, going Hollow works quite well. I always thought how nonsensical Oscar's words were: "First I'll die, then lose my sanity".
    The creators knew they were building a game that would lead many people to be challenged. To me it seems you go hollow when you give up on a purpose. Since there is no life-limit, the only way to truly lose is to give up entirely, thus losing your purpose / sanity and becoming hollow.
    Also, Lautrec and his party seem to me like an NPC equivalent to the gangs of people who wait for people to invade in Anor Londo. Maybe they knew how popular that method / location would be?

    • @elitebelt
      @elitebelt 6 лет назад +5

      I think the only thing that could make all of this more clear is if the player is away from the game for a long period (as in, give up on the game) of time while hollow, NPCs in the game will start dying as your character has no motivation as you do not control your character's will anymore, you don't constantly push them further towards their end goal.
      But that wouldn't be very fun, would it?

    Well from the player perspective, both games are focused on the curse. The player character's first main issue is the curse and the will to find a way to remove it. That's the starting point. Now the story takes us to different directions, involving us in higher matters. Until the point that we even start forgetting why did we set out on this jurney. Completing some ultimate goals that we didn't even knew anything about when we started walking our first steps. We didn't want to save the world, we didn't want to rule, we didn't want to be part of a big deal. We started walking simply because we wanted to exist. Well it feels like we are dead and we woke up in some kind of purgatory. And death is our curse. While we struggle to chase away the dark with fire, because we're too afraid to accept the comfort of the dark abyss and accept the inevitable.

      I may be a bit late with my comment but i only recently played Dark Souls 2 and then one.. ( havent played third one yet, please no spoilers, will do this days when i complete ng+ and ng++ on DS2 as i did on the first one xD ) .. anyway i may be very wrong in my interpretation but i had a nagging feeling from somewhere the middle of DS2 playthrough that everybody is actually dead and all of that is purgatory and that somehow dead people were cursed with not completely dieing and made somekind of civilisation ( multiple civilisations that is ) in purgatory instead of moving on where ever souls go after death.
      Like Death is somehow "broken" ... ( kinda...think of a main character in movie sixth sense on global scale ) ... everybody will sooner or later be cursed and either end up hollow if looses purpose...or if purpose is not lost, chase that purpose to ridiculous lengths ( DS1 kinda also fits in that theory ...just look at Solaire and his purpose, or look at Logan and how he got mad reaching his purpose...and other characters as well ).
      In DS2 many characters remember of having "a life" before coming 'to this land' and some specifically dont remember how they got there...maybe Lucatiel died by some bandits on the side of the road while searching for her brother...Chloanne remembers a bit of her father, maybe she got a pneumonia and died and anded up in this land as well as her father ( the blacksmith ) died from other causes, they are on verge of recognizing eachother but never do.
      Also the intro animation for Dark Souls 2 to me looks like moment of dieing in the forest in real world and "crossing over" ( as in myths maybe that boat and the lake should remind of the river Styx..) into purgatory for the main character...
      Maybe Gwyn and the crew "broke" something in the very fabric of the world by killing dragons...and apparently primordial serpens are also in on it.
      After played both games it still seems to me that world of Dark Souls is a broken purgatory into which people that die in normal world come but never leave and continue to "heaven" or whatever... because its broken and corrupted... and everybody is fighting for souls which actually should leave purgatory and go on but never do and just circle around.

    • @talasattila6401
      @talasattila6401 3 года назад +1

      @@DreamskyDance very good observations :) Indeed, there is no doubt in my mind that the entire world is in decay because of not letting go. Which is why I chose what I did chose for the ending in DS3. You can observe that every character you meet , either has a goal or purpose to achieve or just roam the world eternally without a purpose, becoming hollow inside. Those who realise their goal... they die, peacefully and dissapear. Those who failed on their journey, roam around eternally, cursed and hollow. The whole story for the gods was about the gods themselves fearing death. The world is begging for it's passing, it's decay is sad and melancholic. Without spoilers... there might be light in the far future. a new cycle perhaps. But for that... there will be needed eyes to see what the world became. I'm not telling you anything about that, you will know more in DS3 :)

To understand it better you gotta read all the item descriptions, pay attention to the dialogues you can have with the NPCs and keep an eye out for subliminal messages. Most of its lore is interpretative, so you'll have to work your mind in order to get what's happening in the game. You can also watch some lore videos like this one.

    In the age of dopeness, the world was super strict… clouded by fog.
    A land of suburbs, mansions, and everlasting po-po.
    But then there was dank, and with it came disparity.
    High, and low.
    Trippin, and stable.
    And of course, Po, and Ghetto.
    Creatures approached, and found the souls of gangstas in the fire.
    Nito, Ravelord of the Club.
    The Bitch of Izalith, and her clique.
    Gwyn, lord of the Dank, and his faithful crew.
    With the souls of gangstas they challenged the po-po.
    Gryn’s mighty weed tore apart their police cars.
    The Bitch of Izalith weaved great shitstorms.
    Nito spread a great miasma of acid and dank.
    And Officer Jenkins betrayed his own, and the Po-Po were no more.
    Thus began the age of dankness.
    But soon, the dank will fade, and only law will remain.
    Even now, there are only ganja seeds, and the playas aint high, only endless sobreity.
    And amongst the gangstas are seen, the accursed “Party Pooper Sign”

    Does anybody know what are the gods even? As in, what would you call their race? They are not humans, because humans were created after Pygmy claimed the dark soul (and the god race is taller than the comparative Pygmy, so humans would be as well). And they aren't just gods, because they existed before they attained godhood (Gwyn has an uncle, and his knights are larger than a human, though not being gods), so what are they?
    I ask this because whatever they are could cause Nito to look like that. When humans die they become a single skeleton, but since Nito is not human, his undead state (brought about by the contradictory nature of his soul, his life essence, being death itself) causes that race to look like that.
    Just for the heck of it, because i finished typing this around 12:54 AM, I want to point out the obvious and note how:
    1. Gwynevere is larger than her father
    2. Gwyndolin has tentacles for legs
    3. Smough is VERY disproportionate

    • @elitekjms
      @elitekjms 8 лет назад +79

      1. We don't know the real size of Gywnevere since it's just an illusion.
      2. Gywndolin probably has tentacles due to his affinity with the moon & sorcery.
      3. The gods are Giants.

      +CryoWalrus It's either they're Giants with Lord Souls or the alternative. The Souls games have always hinted at the amount of souls an NPC has. A lot a Souls players theorize that Silver/Black Knights, Sentinals, and Lords are simply big by the power of their souls.

    It's pretty interesting the dynamic between Gwyn's Light Soul and the Dark Soul and Humanity is shown in gameplay:
    -If you feed bonfires,Gwyn's power increases as well as Humanity is sacrificed and the Dark Soul influence fades.The peak of this side is shown when you light the bonfire at the Kiln of the First Flame.The Light Soul will last a little longer,also the Undead Curse dissappears for a while,so Humanity is forgotten.
    -If you don't light bonfires,Humanity spreads more and more,letting the Dark grow while Gwyn's influence dies.The peak of this happens when you kill Gwyn and let the Flame die.Humanity and Darkness dominates without control or regulation because everyone turns undead(like Vendrick says at the end of DS2 dlcs).

    It's weird, but I always associated the Furtive Pygmy not as Darkness, but as life.
    Humanity always seems to appear as a flame, and it makes sense that Humanity is shards of the Dark Soul.
    The Furtive Pygmy was the progenitor of Man, his flame was used to give life to his descendants, and give them strength and luck to help give them the traits that he lacked.
    The Witch of Izalith didn't show the trait of life until she was corrupted, an unintentional trait that spawned in her attempt to birth a new flame from her own.
    She manipulated the Fire of the Lord Soul itself, using it to summon amazing firestorms that destroyed the Dragon's lands.
    Out of the other three, she focused on the Flame's natural attributes rather than using it to strengthen her own.
    Nito shows a lot of qualities of Death, Decay, and Disease. The armor it wears clad with bones, miasma, and just a general shroud of death is pretty abundantly clear.
    It exemplified the trait of death so it's logical that he would harness the flame's deadliest attributes to unleash terrible poisons that it could never generate alone.
    Ironically, unlike the Witch and Gwyn, he ignored the attributes of Fire, but focused on something else that the flame offered... the fumes that it generated.
    Gwyn is the most memorable, most famed, and the most public of the four.
    He gave light when there was darkness, freed life from the oppression of the Dragons, and linked the Fire Shrines to help preserve the Age of Fire.
    Much like Zeus, he was quick to take the helm as the leader of his new found age.
    Lightning and Fire are both different things at first, but in their heart, they share the common theme of plasma.
    Superheated and ionized gases which cause a drastic change in it's characteristics.
    He applied the most force into his flame as the result, even fragmenting it for the Four Kings and Seath.
    The four lord souls have no special traits, because in theory they hold them all.
    The potential of fire is great, numerous, and always dependent on the wielder.
    Depending on how you look at something, it can always appear different and it's application can be altered to suit the situation.
    Mind you that this is just my opinion, and therefore subject to criticism, finger-poking, and having cats scratch it up like they own it.

      i think ur confusing soul with flame, izalith had the SOUL of life not the flame of life. in the souls series theres more than one way to get to something i.e. both light and life lead to fire, light relates to fire through illumination, and life relates to fire conceptually since fire seems alive, it takes matter and converts it into energy, giving off light as a waste byproduct. gwyn channeled power of his soul of light into both lightning(the purest but fleeting form of light) and fire(the crude but lasting form). when iza tried to mimic this fire with her life soul, it was coming from a fundamentally different power, one of life where the fire was more akin to a living thing than a source of light. its like... trying to fuel your gas powered truck with blood because u think well gas is the blood of a truck and blood is the blood of humans, same thing right?
      the pigmy isnt life, its dark and all the traits that come with it, the cold, lonely, emptiness and silence of dark. i like to think that the relationships between te 4 souls is like this: light and life are cousins, they share some aspects and can somewhat do similar things but for different reason. death and dark are also cousins. then the 2 pairs have their opposites, light and dark, life and death.

      The game tells the player as much or as little as they want it to. By reading item descriptions, doing some inference and really taking a good look at both the opening cutscenes and the actions/words of various characters, these stories told in VaatVidya's Prepare to Cry/DkS Lore videos become what you'd see. If you do none of the above, then you see mostly some big concepts that hold less meaning to you, because you put less effort into looking at them.

    I noticed something about the First Flame, the Flame of Chaos, and fire in general. Fire and Pyromancy related to Chaos have a lot of red in them as does the First Flame. Most fire in the game does not contain so much red and indeed most real life flames are orange and yellow, not red. The flamethrower that players get with the Dragon Head Stone is golden yellow with no orange or red at all which is weird because Hellkite breathes very red flames. The Dragon that you get the stone from seems to be the closest we find to original Dragons due to his appearance so perhaps the original Dragons could breathe flames of gold. Maybe the First Flame is not so different from the Flame of Chaos since both caused rapid change(chaos) in their surroundings. The bonfires when kindled fully have a lot of red in them too which makes them seem like mini copies of the First Flame. It also looks like the humanoids who were near the First Flame were Hollows which makes me think that the Curse of the Undead is really just the natural state of Giants and Pygmies before obtaining a soul; a sort of line between Life and Death like the Dragons or Seathe who is a true Undead. After all, Nito is the first of the dead so maybe no one died until he picked up his Lord Soul.
    Crystals are related to Sorcery, Sorcery is related to Souls, and Souls are related to Life. Lord Souls were found by the First Flame, Dragons breathe Flame, Dragons were thoroughly surrounded by Stone, and Crystals grow in Stone. A nameless Blacksmith deity left slabs of Stone Titanite and there is a God of Fire named Flan.
    Dark Souls seems lacking in lore at first yet everything connects in a way that goes beyond simple explanation. Truly mind boggling.

    • @ooccttoo
      @ooccttoo 10 лет назад +2

      Gotta say, your point about undeath being the natural state of humans, giants and pygmies is really smart. It explains why the lords wanted the Lord souls AND why the flame fading caused the curse of the undead.
      Life soul - gives true life (life as an ordinary human rather than a hollow)
      Death soul - gives true death (no respawn at bonfire) [could this explain why Nito spreads death with his covenant? Maybe he is trying to exhaust the strength of the death soul. More people die -> death soul devotes its power to letting them die -> death soul fades -> flame is weakened. This could explain why Frampt wants Nito dead. Does Nito WANT the flame to fade? Maybe he sided with Kaathe, like Gwyn sided with Frampt]
      Light soul - gives holy power (Miracles etc)
      Dark soul - (speculation + assumes the Gods did NOT create undeath) undead can use the dark soul (humanity) to leech power from the other souls in order to restore humanity. That makes sense, if we take offering humanity to restore human form to be stealing power from the flame, as if undead need the other 3 ingredients for true life, that is. Offering humanity to kindle is like giving that power back. That explains why the way of white kill undead.
      Less undead -> less stealing strength from bonfire
      Undead they kill -> drop humanity -> more kindling is possible -> stronger flame
      This also explains why they want the Rite of Kindling, to feed more humanity to the flame.
      {Could all this also explain why Gwyn looks hollow when you fight him?
      Gwyn sacrifices from his soul what the flame needs and reverts to his true hollow form?}
      Sorry if that didn't make any sense to you :) It barely made sense to me. But I could be on to something.

    • @zippo504
      @zippo504 10 лет назад

      DaDude12000 It seems Kaathe wants to stop the bonfires and the First Flame from destroying the pieces of the Dark Soul hence why his Darkwraiths pillage it to give to him. I believe the fires burn Humanity like wood and once the Humanity is turned to ash, it can never be used again. So if Kaathe wants the Dark Soul to return to near full power, he must be planning something of great significance. Perhaps he wants to rule the world instead of Dragons or Giants. After all, Everyone pretty much hated and continues to hate the Dragons including the Serpents who were just as old as the original Dragons.
      I also have noticed since the Darksign has a reddish ring of fire around its center of darkness, perhaps the bonfires spread the "Curse of the Undead", which might explain how Solaire purposefully cursed himself and why many people could be cursed without knowing it until they died.
      I saw a video where some guy talked about the Maneater cooks and Smough and how they ate Undead bodies to consume their power. If an Undead can never truly die and only goes Hollow, even when they are only skeletons, then what happens to the bodies of them when they die? Some enemies fade away leaving only their gear/soul power but most leave behind bodies. What happens if you eat something that can never be destroyed, let alone digested fully? You might get fat just like the cooks and Smough. In the video he said if an Undead were to link the flame, they would potentially burn forever as the Undead cannot be destroyed, somewhat like a log that burns but never is consumed. The Undead requires nothing directly to link the fire and only uses Souls and Humanity to get to the Kiln. Once Gwyn is dead, you could be butt naked, Hollow, and Soulless(besides Gwyn's) but that flame will still light regardless. I think Gwyn never was destroyed entirely, the Player only needs to remove him long enough to link the fire. Gwyn should respawn somewhere but mechanically the game would be impossible near bonfires due to infinite respawning. I can only imagine how hellish Blighttown would be if everything kept popping out of bonfires. Gah, I typed too much again. At least there is no character limit anymore.
      Heh, while I was typing this I had to go kindle a real fire to keep it going. Praise the Sun!

    I actually thought that the curse was either a last ditch attempt by the dragons to inflict an eternal bane on humanity for bringing about their destruction. I didn't think that Nito would have anything to do with it simply because hollows don't seem to be the same thing as skeletons. Since I didn't see any hollows in the catacombs (aside from the necromancers) I assumed that Nito simply couldn't use them because they weren't obedient to him, or anyone aside from each other.

    I am still wondering what happened to the giants. I mean, in the Tomb of the Giants, there are so many of them dead, and we only see 5 alive (3 in Sens, hawkeye gough and giant blacksmith) and even then they all seem to be in service to Gwyn. So were they all slaughtered or something? I also remember that on Gough's helm, it says that he was mistreated or something by other warriors despite being one of Gwyn's four knights. And in addition to that, Nito happens to be in the center of the tomb. So how are all the Giants dead? Who killed them and why?

      I don't think they died, they just left Anorlondo. The giants which are believed to be the deity race left anor londo and crossed the seas over to drangleic, this idea is based on what one of the npc characters say in the dark souls 2 beta. Item description is for the princess of sun light ring "The Princess of Sunlight Gwynevere left Anor Londo along many other deities,and later became wife to Flame God Flann."

      ***** I also agree with Vaati's Lore video for DS 2 were he talks about them a bit. I mean DS say's most of the giants left and went away while DS 2 on the other hand say's that giants came from across the sea and from what I understand DS 2 was ruled by humans and a war started between these giants who came from across the sea and humans who lived there. My overall guess is that the giants who had always ruled the humans thought themselves to be intitled to ruling the humans while the humans decided to fight them which resulted in the DS 2 area to be destroyed. With the release of DS 2 I hope to get some answers.

    A little note, my personal opinion is that Nito was trying to keep the world in balance. As you can see from the scene where you are laying in the coffin and was transferred to Nito, you can see that he's just... Sleeping. Laying there. Dormant. You can also see that all the corpses never left the cemetery, indicating that Nito doesn't let them leave so the world is in peace. Anyway it's just my personal opinion.

    I have heard a better explanation behind Leroy. He was basically hollowing due to his time in the tomb where he was trapped and needed humanity to continue his quest. So he tried to invade someone for it. As you are the only one in that place he invades you.

    I know this Video is two years old, but what the hell.
    Fun Fact: Gwyndolin, son of lord Gwyn and God of Anor Londo over the course of the game, takes his name from a corrupted version of the name Gwendolen, literally welsh for White Ring. A white ring is the symbol for the Church of the Way of White.
    My conclusion: Gwyndolin is, surprise surprise, the leader of the way of the way, guiding it from behind the scenes. He approached Nito and asked him to create the dark sign, allowing Nito to further spread his death, and Gwyndolin to further the flames.

    I never actually thought about how the curse of the undead came to be. I guess it makes sense that it was created by the Lords to force undead to use the Dark Soul (humanity) to fuel the bonfires, to stop them from hollowing, which they were doomed to be anyway.

      makes more sense to me that Gwyn obviously created the dark sign...he is afraid of the age of dark...age of dark referring to man not needing these "gods" hence he created the dark sign to enslave humanity and keep ruling the masses. ultimatley that is his downfall because now a chosen undead will usher in mans era

    I've always figured that the undead curse was created by Gwynn, synthesizing the results from the horrific human experimentation he supported through Izalith, Seath, Nito, and Manus, for the eventual purpose of recollecting the power he split up and using it to restore the fire. The sad irony is that by the time you accomplish that, there's really nobody left who the age of fire serves. Gwyndolin is literally the only god who's still alive by the time you finish the game, and he's too busy defending the illusion of a worthwhile legacy to actually enjoy it.

      ds3 has a bunch of plotholes, so I wouldn't consider it too seriously.
      for example, after you kill Lothric you get cinders of a lord, but game says to you CLEARLY, that Lothric has REJECTED to become a lord of cinder and wasn't cindered at the moment he is slain by the protag.

    • @Heedfulconch3
      @Heedfulconch3 7 лет назад +1

      Personally... I think the ashes in this game refer to the lords and those who would offer themselves as fuel. People of power who each systematically fed themselves to that accursed flame, either being forced to or to protect their homes or just to temporarily end the curse.
      In my opinion, the Undead and the darksign are essentially there to ensure the continued life of the fire whether those undead like it or not. They would make the perfect soldiers to face the abyss, the chaos and everything in between. No matter what happens though, in DS1 and 2, we never see the flame truly die and that leaves another undead to step up to the challenge of absorbing your soul and going to link the fire. It's only in DS3 where we can see the flame truly die, and that I believe is the best ending for the souls games.
      The world of fire is dying, think of it as a man on life support, constantly suffering. Do you prolong his life in some vain hope of some cure to his condition arising? Or do you take mercy and end his suffering, to let him move on from the world so that the rest of us can also move on?

    • @Oops-All-Ghosts
      @Oops-All-Ghosts 7 лет назад +1

      Lothric rejected his duty as a Lord of Cinder, but he was probably still used to link the flames, like the others (meaning he'd be one of two Lords we know were forced to link the Flame, which is interesting). His body is clearly deformed and mangled, and, like the other lords, he refuses to venture outside of his throneroom.

      Dark Souls 2's main story is concerning the origins of the curse, the cyclical nature of the world itself, the attempts to escape from this cycle, the consequences of doing so, and the rise of the dark as fragments of the abyss once again take form.
      Its less of a focus on the struggles of those afflicted by the curse, as Dark Souls 1 was, but more about the nature of the curse and the world itself.

    Note the increase in defense and ability goes up only as you hold onto the Dark Sprite, lost when given to the bonfires. Perhaps it is possible that holding the sprites, though being humanity, still slips one into Hollowed, and reverting the effect by giving to the bonfires means that the Deities in fact did create the curse to stop the humans from becoming stronger and keeping them in power, as the light grows and darkness fades, but naturally light disappears and darkness remains.

    • @DCcableguy
      @DCcableguy 10 лет назад +1

      dondiwhite1 I'm not saying that he could be a darkwraith in the sense that he's a part of Kaathe's covenant, but that he's trying to gather humanity together for the purpose of recreating the dark soul, which is what dark wraiths do.
      I question how he got enough humanity to actually have a cloak of it if the bonfires weren't supplying him with it. I mean was he just gathering it off of people who entered his catacombs?

    I started playing the dark souls series 1 week ago and i’m currently playing through ds3 and i’m absolutely in love with this game series. I’ve played ALOT of games in my life and i’m a bit of a perfectionist so i usually go for 100% finishes on all games. Haven’t done this for ds yet though simply for the fact that i’m so invested in the story, finding every secret, exploring, talking to npcs. Dark Souls has taken my number 1 spot for game series. The best game this far was definitely Dark Souls 1. Such an interesting and grasping experience and has definitely taken my number 1 spot for games in general.

    Somehow, I feel the basilisks are often overlooked. After all, they are the only enemy throughout the game that CURSE YOU. "Humans are helpless against curses, and can only redirect their influence.
    The Purging Stone does not dispel curses, but receives them as a surrogate. The stone itself was once a person or some other being." - Purging Stone Lore.
    Also there's a correlation between the Eyes of Death and the Gravelord Covenant, and their "nest" is located in the GREAT HOLLOW. Responding with speculation would be greatly appreciated!
