I would point out that this would work especially well with Stormbringer RPG and the Elric RPG from Chaosium, as well as Mork Borg and other dark fantasy games (perhaps Symbaroum).
Got mine a few weeks ago as well, and I've been enjoying its concision and clear choices immensely. I find I appreciate a game having a clear point of view over trying to avoid any potential offense or disappointment.
Love the setting, the system and everything about BSH (especially its Appendices [its oracle is my favorite]) I hope I can get it around at my table one day
good overview, i've ordered my copy a few weeks back and I'm just waiting for it to arrive so i can start brewing, i'm just looking for any cool content to scratch the itch while i wait for it. quick note, you mentioned that Merry Mushmen are known for their Zines. This word is pronounced to rhyme with "queen" not "sign" -- it's just a shortened form of "magazine". appreciate your insights, the appendix is A+ for sure
I'm really confused on why npcs and monsters don't get ability scores. The author himself answered the question by saying he used the oracule in the back. How do you determine if a npc human can climb a wall? why wouldn't you use the same rule set as you do for players?
Huh, never though about using the oracle. Its a rare enough occurrence in a player facing system. I usually just decide on my own depending on the the story, or I do a simple high / low d20 roll. But giving you NPCs stats to roll on would also work. Just go for it. Houserules FTW.

For Black Hack roll under games I just go 3d4+3 for attributes.
It gives very good numbers for low level characters to begin playing.
It really has the essence of sword and sorcery, I like the detail that magic has a real cost and is not an unimportant matter
Love the art in this. Just dripping with atmosphere.
And I can't show half of it on RUclips. 😅
Goran Gligovic is the artist. He's a big Moorcock fan, and it shows
Getting a group together to play it

Thanks for showing the bilbliography. Now I have new books to read.
Excellent review, very informative. The game sounds quite interesting.
