- In this solo RPG campaign of THE BLACK SWORD HACK, the struggle between Law and Chaos is coming to an end, and reality itself is in danger. We will be following the fate of Oksana on her way from lowly thief to legendary queen, exploring our world of Doomed Alissar and uncovering grim tales of sword and sorcery following themes of dark fantasy epics inspired by the works of old masters of the fantasy and science-fiction genre, including Michael Moorcock, Fritz Leiber, Karl Edward Wagner, Jack Vance, Robert E Howard, and many more.
This first episode of actual play contains a first taste of the solo RPG goodness that the BLACK SWORD HACK so easily delivers and follows hot on the heels of our campaign setup "session zero" episode, in which we defined the setting and our protagonist.
Join me as we observe our budding anti-heroic champion on her quest to rise to greatness!

I was looking for a group which plays BSH on youtube then I came across to your actual play and, oh man, I didn't know solo play is this much fun! I was prejudiced against the solo play before but now I am more exciting for playing alone in a setting that I just created with you today than my normal group session this evening. Thanks a lot! You are so good at what your doing, both world building-wise and storytelling-wise, also production is top quality too. You are a gem in this pile of youtube rpg channels.
Oh that's awesome! You're playing BSH with your group in a customized setting of your own? Sweet! Who's the big bad in your version of the world?
I love your story telling style. You keep me interested in listening to the next episode.
good to have you back !!
More romances should begin at knifepoint. ❤
Also, where can you find that "Book of Names"?
I believe the book is off a Lulu print-on-demand haul I did a while back and I just threw this one in when it caught my eye. The name on the site is "The Story Games Names Project". Fairly affordable, I think there's also a digital version floating around out there.
That was a great Ep 1, and the meeting was perfect lol
He's back ladies and gentlemen!
This was great beginning of a story, but such a cliffhanger. It seems I have to check out the next episode too :)
Fun watch!
Pretty amazing intro!
Yoooooo! That intro! 🔥🔥🔥
The beginning as if taken from the pages of a Sword & Sorcery novel!
Genaha definitely deserves character sheet on rules like a player character, she seems to important to the story.
I roll some diec to generate her ;)
Genaha Chalidim:
Strength 14
Dexterity 12
Constitution 12
Intelligence 12
Wisdom 10
Charisma 9
HP 12
Doom d6
Weapon & Unarmed damage: d8/d8
Backgrounds: Pitfighter, Vicious, Herbalist
Equipment: 100 coins, 2x dagger, 6 doses of hallucinogenic drugs
Huh. That's cool! A vicious herbalist is somewhat amusing as a combination. Interesting stat block overall. A d8 unarmed damage is fairly ridiculous, too. Thank you!
I learned a lot, Thank you for posting!
Thank you, very happy to hear it! I’m always hoping that there’s some take away for everyone’s home games when watching these videos, as I’ve also picked up a lot from other folks’ content, so I’m glad to hear it’s helpful.
Man, seeing that Thinkpad takes me back to the days when they were the best laptops around by far.
I don't have much use for laptops in general but when I need one, a refurbished Thinkpad has been my go to for a good while now. Definitely gonna be an annoying day when I can't find one with the specs I need any more and need to go for something else.
Love it! 🗡&🪄
Great adventure and I enjoyed it. What is the book of names that you are using?
I got it off a Lulu print-on-demand haul on a whim, it's called "The Story Games Names Project", seems to mostly be a compilation of creative commons name list across a whole variety of cultures. Probably a bit of a frivolous purchase in a time of online name generators but I like my books in hand when I play!
@@killtenratsrpg I with you on that, having the book in hand is so much better. I will check it out and see if it is something I cant live without.
