    I had aquablation in Encinitas, CA last November. It had become a standard procedure by then, effective and covered by Medicare.
    My prostate was 108 grams. I was in the hospital for 24 hours, had the catheter removed 18 hours after discharge.
    No recovery pain except for irritation from the catheter. I was peeing freely right away. Very minor traces of blood (pink flashes, the nurse called them) in my urine for 3 weeks, after which I resumed biking and running. I could walk unlimited distanced the day I had the catheter removed.
    I'm 72 and it the whole damn thing was easy peasy. No more Flomax and Cardura. No more getting up several times per night, often not even once.

    This is TURP being done with a water jet in place of a scalpel. It requires one to 2 days in the hospital for continuous irrigation of the bladder. Next day after surgery before removing catheter your badder will be filled. The catheter will be removed and if you can empty your bladder and bleeding is under control you can go home. If not you may stay another night or go home with a catheter. I can’t see where my recovery was any different than if a scalpel had been used but I would still choose Aquablation.

    • @rjwickland6557
      @rjwickland6557 Год назад

      There is no scalpel used in a TURP . TURP is an acronym for: trans urethral resection prostate . it is done through the urethra . You can't get a scalpel through the penis .

    • @sirus312
      @sirus312 Год назад +1

      I think you want to be careful cutting with the prostate. Could cause issues such as ED/Sexual function etc. If you don't care about that then I guess heat/scalpel is fine. But most men want to preserve sexual function

  • @33Donner77
    @33Donner77 9 месяцев назад

    Thank you. I'm 70 and currently feel fine, my prostate cancer is under surveillance, but my urologist recommended Urolift. I've seen patient review surveys that give Urolift a 2 out of 5 - discomfort, some one and two year failures, re-application of Urolift, that fails, then you have all these clamps in you that have to be removed during Aquablation.

      @@sirus312 My Aquablation surgery went well. I had no pain, no complications, with sexual function remained intact with no retrograde. Before surgery, my prostrate was 117 ml, and half protruded into the bladder with 6 Urolift implants. I had general and spinal anesthesia. The total ablation time was 8 minutes, with two passes to remove all tissue. After that, the doctor spent more time removing the Urolift implants and prostate tissue. After the surgery, the doctor inserted a catheter into the bladder, and saline water irrigated continuously until the following day. The next morning the catheter was removed, and I could void like a young man. The ultrasound confirmed that my bladder had emptied completely, and I was released in the afternoon. The bleeding stopped after four days. I am so blessed to have found Dr. Ricardo Gonzalez at the Methodist Hospital in Houston. He is not only talented but patient and dedicated. I am 71 and had TUNA and Urolift before Aquablation, and I can't say enough good things about this procedure.

      Hello Mr. Jenkins. I am 67 and have BPH. I had PAE done May 25th- so about 4 weeks ago. I still have limited flow and combine self catheterization with urination on my own-without a catheter. Urination on my own requires very hard pushing and does not fully empty the bladder so have to go about every hour. My doctor just suggested combining Aquablation with my PAE. Can you tell me about your PAE/Aqublation experience? Did you have PAE and then wait 12 weeks and then have Aquablation? My doctor suggests that I wait 12 weeks after my PAE before Aquablation. If you decide to share your experience I would great appreciate it.

    • @MediFind
      @MediFind  Год назад

      Hey Amin - Thanks for the feedback! The cost of aquablation therapy depends on what country you live in and what type of insurance you have. Pricing here in the US where Dr. Singh is based is quite complicated, and depends on the relationship between the patient's insurance coverage and the practice/hospital performing the procedure. That makes it difficult for anyone (including a doctor) to provide a general estimate of the procedure's cost. We recommend contacting your insurance company (if you have coverage) or if you're self-pay, contacting a doctor who performs aquablation for an out-of-pocket estimate.
