Forced to use SPS Commerce or TrueCommerce as an EDI provider for your Business? Here's the truth!

You don't have to use a certain EDI provider for your business. You can choose an EDI partner that fits your needs, infrastructure and resource capabilities.
Here's what happens in reality:-
Most often the supplier businesses are told to use SPS Commerce or TrueCommerce from different parties (external consultants, SPS/TrueCommerce themselves, Trading Partner suggestions) as their EDI provider because either they are most commonly used by other businesses or most likely SPS Commerce is the EDI provider of the trading partner (onboarding suppliers, testing, maintaining the processes).
SPS Commerce also imposes a fee on the suppliers if they don't choose SPS as their EDI provider and if their Trading Partner is using them. That is how they have gained major market share in the EDI space.
Do not blindly choose an EDI provider because someone told you. Do you research and see what fits your business needs, ask the right questions when shopping around, get quotes from different providers and compare not only the pricing but the services you will get for that price.
Here is a criteria to focus on when choosing an EDI provider:
a) Your Internal Infrastructure
b) Internal Resources
c) Overall business needs (how do you intend to scale? do you need broad capabilities; what kind of support is required etc.)
