We have one in Chesterfield called Margaret's. Only opens 3 or 4 days a week but you can guarantee whenever you go they'll be queuing up off the side road right up to the high street. Would be a good one for our Danny boy to try
@mikedown1250 a queue shows its busy and popular. They can't always go quick service. If you have a burger you have to wait for it too cook and sometimes you have to wait for the kebab meat or the portions of chicken etc

This is the first time I've seen a chippy that provides salt and vinegar (non-brewed condiment) for their customers to apply. I am impressed. I normally have to beg them to apply more than a single handshake. When I get home I actually use some more salt and real malt vinegar. It should always be salt first and vinegar later as the vinegar takes up the salt and runs down below. Only heathens apply vinegar first and salt afterwards.

Mum likes the pot roast and I order fish and chips but sub mash for the chips as they always go limp as a take away. My son joined us today and asked me was it proper? I said not in the slightest. This fish is reasonably sized but it was half the thickness of what Danny got. Mum dog had have of my fish as she eats anything. It's okay as it gives me 30-45 mins with my Mum who's 80. I'd kill for some proper fish and chips but there's nowt around here for miles.

Try Thornton le Dale Chippy, Eric & Lynne have a mobile van. They park up on Clifton Moor every dinner time. Their fish n chips, or as we say it around here, 1 of each. They did our outside catering for our wedding. 170 in total. Not 1 complaint. Guaranteed the best 1of each n curry sauce, you'll ever try 😋
For what you had Danny that's a bargain in this day and age. I'm in Norwich and I wouldn't get standard fish and chips for 12 quid, that's why I never go to a fish and chip shop nowadays as I just cannot be ripped off, but what you had is more than reasonable.
