    4:28 You execute these emblematic Debussy phrases so perfectly that I can imagine and even touch the rippling surface of the lake shrouded in the nightly stillness.

    Debussy c'est vraiment le romantisme à la française : mélancolique, sobre et tourmenté !

    • @delko000
      @delko000 5 лет назад +7

      Je ne vois pas le tourment personnellement. "Pagodes" pour moi c'est surtout de la contemplation.

    • @MarcusVinicius116
      @MarcusVinicius116 4 года назад +2

      Je suis absolument transporté à chaque fois que j'écoute Pagodes. C'est vraiment une pièce admirable, une merveille de mélodie orientalisante et de richesse harmonique. Je suis actuellement en train de travailler le morceau, à mille lieu de l'excellence de Tiffany, mais c'est un bonheur absolu.

    "Pagodes" ("Pagodas") - approx. 4-5 minutes.
    "La soirée dans Grenade" ("Evening in Granada") - approx. 5 1⁄2 minutes.
    "Jardins sous la pluie" ("Gardens in the Rain") - approx. 3 1⁄2 minutes.[1]

  • @andresgunther
    @andresgunther 5 лет назад +13

    Debussy's piano works are among the most difficult ones to get right, technically and tonal - wise, and Tiffany is one of the few contemporary pianists who is able to play Debussy with the right voicing and touch. Especially the Pagodes and the Evening in Granada are outright mesmerizing.

  • @mrkkrssk
    @mrkkrssk 6 лет назад +13

    Great performance, amazing virtuosity, especially in Jardins sous la Pluie, bravo.
    In this composition, I like the Pagodas the most, for it's pure and peaceful mood, with reminding of wind chimes background.

For me, I felt as if I was traveling, floating at times, as it went from a dream-like states to a dramatic ending. Amazing, the execution of such technical difficulty. Thank you for this Monday morning music to calm the madness!

    Playing Debussy with patience and not rushing the piece already shows this is very much worth listening to. You can't push his phrasing forward, and the player in the video didn't do that. Thanks for that, this is something we can all enjoy.
