- 2023 sees me back on the MTB and back racing mountain bike XCO... and what a start to the season it was, with my first ever bike race win and first ever mountain bike race win! The course was relentless from start to finish, very technical, with no rest.
A brilliant course at Highlands Farm in Frimley Green for the Gorrick Spring Classic.
I hope you enjoyed the video and I'm excited to kick on with the rest of the season. Please do Subscribe to follow the journey!
“Float the bike! FLOAT IT!!” 🤣🤣
Yesssss. Well done mate.
Hiding in the woods 😂😂👍👍
Yes finally!! Brilliant effort and and two yeehaws!!!!! Double win
Thought it was never going to happen 😂
Well done boi on your win!! good to say hello in the pits. Get the old man to race the next!!😁
Thank you 😀 ahh it was you I met just before your race? I can’t believe how relaxed you were even though your race was seconds away 😂 Hope you had a good race and it was good to meet you 👌
We need more live commentary from your father. Well done both of you. Now stop picking on the sport riders and race. 😃
Will get him on commentary this year for sure 👌 he’s normally busy in the pits but with no bike changes that should make things easier 🙌
🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@GiorgioCoppolaCycling needs a promotion to head of commentary! :D if he can be pulled away from the pits long enough :D
Prime conditions! Congrats bud
Well done mate! Also you don’t need to explain away the sunnies, you’re a superstar now!
😂😂😂
Now I see where you got your narrator skills from!😄👍
Yep he gave me his commentary talent 👀
Brilliant result, big congrats. Your Dad was borderline emotional- “Float the bike, float the bike..”. Have a great Spring racing.
Thanks and first time I have had praise from him this year 😂
Great Win!
Nice one G Unit.
Very nice. You are more than ready for a category upgrade. You smoked the rest of the field. Must've felt good to be on the bike in the dirt.
Will give the expert category next race but it’s going to be a big step up 😅 but felt amazing racing and the conditions were perfect 🙌
Will take the W all day long for a first outing to test the waters. Great work. #Pidcock2.0
Poor man’s pidcock 😂
YeeeHaaaw! lets go!
Well done. YEEHAAA
🙌
Mega result! Hopefully see you at a crit or 2 this season.
Haven’t got any planned but will likely do one so might see you there 🙌
What a result! Well done... YEEEEE HAAAAAAAA! 🧑🌾
Thanks mate 🙌 finally a yeee haaa 😂
Brilliant result... What a win! Yeehaa! 👍🚴🏻♀️👌
Great video Giorgio and perfect result. Yeeha's all round....look forward to seeing the next one.
Thanks 🙌 super excited for the summer mtb season now 👌
Well chuffed for you George. That cake was well deserved. As the was the 2nd cake....and the peanut butter...and the yoghurt...and the popcorn 🤣. Athleeeeeete! Really enjoyed following you and the Rocket this last few months. But now youve set the bar pretty high so I look forward to seeing what comes next!
Proper athlete 😬😂 hmm I probably shouldn’t have set the bar so high in the first race… will try and keep it up 🤞
Amazing result George 👏🏼. I never thought I'd hear your good lady say those immortal words..........
I never thought I would either… hopefully the first of many 🤞😂
Well done mate 💪
Great effort Giorgio, let's go
Yeeeeee-hawwwwwwww!
Well done Giorgio 👍🏻🏁🍾
Brilliant, elite next time. The porridge made the difference 😄
Getting Getting cramp is my problem, difficult to manage in a technical technical race if you are using hydration drinks , I've started using the drinks before the race and having a gel 15 minutes before the start.
Yeah great result, yeehhaa
Yep although it does mean an extra lap, will need more porridge I think!
Yeah it was just a lack of fuelling and an extra 15 mins of racing which I’m not used to… the course doesn’t really have any sections to take a drink but it’s all a learning curve at the moment 😅
What a start to the XC season. Cracking result! That course is always so brutal, no let up or recovery anywhere. Well done.
Thank you 😀 absolutely brutal course but I loved it and I’m assuming it was you I met just before your race? if it was you, that was probably the most relaxed I have seen someone before a race… you were literally just about to start 😂
@@GiorgioCoppolaCycling Hi Giorgio, not me I'm afraid. I'm not very relaxed at a start😆. I'm also considerably older than your good self so Im in the older geezers cat of grand old vets 🙃. I couldn't race as trying to sort out some niggling injuries. I hope to do the next round as a leg wakener for the up and coming season. I don't know how Gorrick always much to crame so much into such a tight area. On paper a two and half ish mile course sounds like a doddle but its not! Anyway well done again and if I see you on the next one I'll make myself known. I usually wear a white NRAS (National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society) top.👍
@@stoggs85 ahh I thought it might be you but didn’t get chance to catch there name as it was literally a minute before the start of the race 😂 hope you managed to get the injuries sorted and see you at the next Gorrick 👌 absolutely mind blowing how they get the course in and it’s epic as well!
Great will keep an eye out 👍
nice course in lovely woods... and congrats!
Epic course for sure! It was great fun from start to finish although very painful 😂
well done G, yeeehh - haa!! course looked good and the s-works is dope! stoked for you mate and like the rocket said, if you can't have cake after a win then when can you? - it's essential fuel and nutrition, just balance everything else - mega ride, hopefully when you step up the categories you'll stay at the top - awesome XC content and dad commentary - well done
Course was epic 👌 true the rocket is always right 😅 I hope so but will be good to step up in the next race and challenge myself against the top boys 😬
Great race well done 🎉
Love it mate! Looking forward to some more XC races
Loved it mate! Got the bug again now, we will have to do a few weekend XC rides again soon 🙌
bloody hell G, your training is really showing now, well done. mtb skills seem on point too :D great to see rocket having a reason to yeehaa :D
Happy to see all the hard work paying off 🙌 a bit more work to do on the skills but massive improvements already which is good 😀
Loved the video , well done , xx
Thank you 😀
Winner winner chicken dinner !! You did great. Next time, cycling glasses.. could you wear a camelbak and race??
When you see the s works.. that’s a sign of quality
I have just ordered some cycling glasses so hopefully they will save the day 👌 I’m not a big fan of racing with a camelbak find them a bit uncomfortable when going full speed 🤔
Class mate. Inspires me to give XC a go!
Yes boss! Get on it, good training for the upcoming ttt 🤷♂️😂
take an isotonic gel (the watery ones) and tape it to your top tube like Lucinda
Will try I find it even harder to have a gel when I’m out of breathe… think I just need to practice it during training 🤷♂️
Well done , do a vid on your new bike.
Will try do one this weekend 👍
@@GiorgioCoppolaCycling niceone 👍
You were in the wrong race :-) 😀
Well done but time to step up !
😅 I will at the next Gorrick in a couple of weeks 👌 but after that I will be racing British cycling races and have to race Sport… hopefully can get an upgrade this year 🤞
@Giorgio Coppola Cycling nice one, the joy of needing ranking points. I'm racing V50 so my life is more straightforward.
You should come to Andy smiths mtb series .. Wednesday nights in May
Thinking about it 👍 will check if my dad and brother are available to do them 👌
I am very disappointed, NO CELEBRATION OVER THE LINE?
Del is my favourite commentator sound like he’s doing a nature program in the woods 🐻 😆
Well done 👏
To tired to celebrate and the only person watching was my dad 😅
😂😂 other racers probably wondered what he was doing… crazy man filming in the woods 😂
@@GiorgioCoppolaCycling I want to see a celebration next time though, more wins 🏆
Cake…. Rocket makes a sound point. You did win a race… and cake is carb heavy. Sugars, fats, throw some peanut butter on the side and it’s the perfect fuel
I give it to her this time if you don’t have a cake when you win when can you have one… probably sound advice 😂
Going to give XC a go this year only raced CX before
Epic! You will love it, it’s the same pain but tends to go on for longer 😂
