You should watch the official music video to see what happened to the girl
I am a grown ass man and I STILL can not listen to this song without crying like a baby.
yep
Same
Fucking balling my eyes out by the end of the second verse, listneing to him give a synopsis update, knowing whats coming. If this song doesn't move you, you are some kind of monster.
Another Cody here. Can confirm can not listen to this without getting tears going.
Yep same here, tears are flowing now.
This is a musically beautiful version of this song, but as others I'm sure have said, you should watch the video, because at the very end, we get to realize that "the girl" survives, and it shows the three of them out on the fishing trip mentioned in the very last line. But yeah, I can't get through the video EVER without tearing up.
We didn't have cable in my house in 1993 or 1994 when this song came out. I was so broken hearted because I never saw the video until several years later. Still makes me cry. 😭
Video sounds kinda lame should of killed one of them off to show loss, in my opinion
@@pamhorne5514 not sure if I’ve ever seen the official video now that I think about it, had this on cassette in my high school pickup but never had cable growing up
Agree!
The song itself let you choose your own ending even though the video gives you a happy one, and I find that beautiful
My dad wrote this song. I always love watching reactions to people hearing for the first time. Sadly he passed 2 years ago July
@Craig Morton Condolences, I imagine it's rote by now but know my heart is with You. The C&W genre generally, to my experience, doesn't treat writers half as well as they oughtta. 🙏🏻⚘️⚘️
Wow! That is awesome, your dad was a seriously talented writer. I'm sorry for your loss, Craig, but we can forever be grateful for the many blessings he bestowed upon us through his works and words!
Sorry for your loss, Craig. Your dad will live on in the songs he wrote. Especially this one, it makes me cry everytime!
Lol. Cool story bro
Im 57 years old and this song still makes me cry
You need to react to he didn’t have to be by Brad Paisley that’s another absolutely beautiful country song
This song never fails to make me cry. I almost died having my first baby and I saw that pain and pleading on my husband face. I was prepared to die for our baby and he was willing to give everything to save us both.
This song is what turned me into a fan of country music.
Tim McGraw: Live like you are dying is another great song
Me too! Sometime back in 1994 or 95, I saw this video and cried. Literally cried with tears streaming down my face. From then on, I began listening to the country music stations in hopes of hearing it again. My how times have changed! There was no youtube back then lol
Another song I enjoyed was Chattahoochee by Alan Jackson.
From Tim McGraw I'd suggest "Just To See You Smile"
I'd also suggest "The Man He Didn't Have To Be" by Brad Paisley. It is another thoughtful ballad.
Great reaction.
At the end of the song, Johnny is the baby that was born :) his mother survived. You'd see that if you watched the original music video ♥
I always love a song where the chorus hardly changes but because of the story in the lyrics being told the meaning changes immensely. Some other songs like this are "Thunder Rolls (which if you can do, get the long version with the third verse please!)" by Garth Brooks, "There Goes My Life" by Kenny Chesney, "Even Though I'm Leaving" by Luke Combs, "How Can I Help You To Say Goodbye" by Patty Loveless, "Message In A Bottle" by The Police & "Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)" by Nancy Sinatra
I instantly thought of Chesney's "There Goes My Life" for him to watch next. Amazing same kind of format but totally different story.
Fast Car
@@CubeGodd I tear up every time I hear this song ❤️
I gotta add “Ol’ Red” for a good country lyric musical motif. It’s not as prime of an example, but the lyric “Ol’ Red’s itching to have a little fun” definitely changes meaning as the song goes on. Lol.
“Love Me” by Colin Raye
I can't begin to count how many times I've heard this song, but never this arrangement. It's almost a new experience.
I'd forgotten how emotional this song was lyrically and he sang it with equally as much emotion and passion.
Bro I can count on one hand how many times I've cried since I've been an adult. That said, hearing this song for the first time when I was 24, was possibly the most memorable lol. Damn song got me good.
I have never heard this version before, only the original recording. Loved it then but wow, this is a much softer, not so twangy, more beautiful edition! Thank you for reacting to this and introducing me to it. Tim is so talented and has such a strong collection of music from across the years.
I cry literally every single time I hear Don't Take The Girl, this was no exception. Glad you liked it.
The video for it hits even harder. More so, cause in the end (from what I remember, it's been a decade at least since i last watched it), when he repeats the intro the father at that point has the same colored hair as the Johnny we're following, and the 'new' young Johnny has different hair color, and different outfits.
yes, but you see a woman with them-implying the 'girl' lives.
@@dhart1496 I always saw it as a new little friend for Johnny JR
Also in the end mommy is walking johnny to go fishing with his daddy.
from Tim... Indian outlaw, or "something like that"... from garth brooks, papa loved momma... and another favorite, John Anderson Seminole Wind
As a songwriter I must say this is one of the masterpieces that I do love. I’m a jazz artist but I love country. If you listen to this song you’ll know why.🎵🌹🎵
OMG. Chills and crying. Beautiful and heartbreaking. Great reaction from you. Thanks,
Who’s cutting onions? For almost 30 yrs this song…. Can barely hold tears back
That song is country. It's a ballad that tells a story. These are the type songs that draw real country music fans and their fans follow for a life time
The goosies I get from this song and the tears I have cried. Oof. This song is just soo powerful and heartbresking!
This is an outstanding song by Tim. And his voice only enriches the song and story
I've heard this song a hundred times. Still brought me to tears watching you react to it.
It freaking SCARES me how much this young man and I have in common.. it's freaking eerie.
This was my dad's favorite song, he regularly perform it on one of our local broadcast stations. He passed when I was very young but whenever I hear this song I think of him
I have heard this song many times, crying every time, if you don't cry you don't have a heart ♥
My goodness! I'm crying already and were not even half way through. I agree with you MrLBoyd. This song is beautiful
Knowing the song well with scenes from the video playing out and knowing where the story goes the tears start to flow...every time.😢😭
This song makes me cry almost every time man
Excellent singer, outstanding actor !🥰
I've heard this song a million times and I'm always in tears within 5 seconds of it starting.... what a song!
You should do "standing outside the fire" by Garth Brooks but you have to watch the official video because it tells a completely different story than you picture from just the lyrics
I hear the name of this song and will tear up. In the video the mom lives, in the song it leaves it open. Awesome reaction brother.
I told myself I wouldn't watch another reaction to this song..... damn, gonna cry
Love the emotions... "something like that..." Great song
This song is when I fell in love with country music (and Tim!) Mad respect for him and his art
In the video at the end his girl lives
This song touches ur soul
Just a damn good song
Imagine that i love this song very much, i like to listen it late in the evening in the summer nights. Greatings from far away , eastern europe, with love from Moldova
In the video she survives in the end, bit if you just listen to the song it does feel certain she passed. Tim chooses the most incredible songs and delivers them as if he wrote them. Amazing reaction 💗
He has soany great songs, but one that makes me feel young is Seventeen. Not too deep, but really fun.
Live Like You Were Dying is a song that I absolutely love, and am working on learning from...
I saw him perform that song live just after his little one was born he came out from backstage with his baby in his arms saying please don't take the girl now that was heart-wrenching
I'm not crying, you're crying
I have been a fan of Tim McGraw since he was the highlighted "new artist" at the CMAs. When I got married, and we had our second baby in our 20's, I also almost died in childbirth, and didn't realize what my husband went through until this came on the radio and he couldn't listen to it. Also, years later, my husband got cancer, very young, and that year "Live like you were dying" was a top song ...... now we are creeping up on 20 years, and "the rest of our life" is our song. I just love every song he does.
This song's message is timeless and so heartwarming. In case you didn't realize the "Girl" winds up living and is the { Girl } at the start. If you watch the official video it will help you to get the full meaning of the song.
I absolutely LOVE your reactions! You have touch my heart to the core so many times! Thank you!
I grew up on Tim McGraw and to this day this song will always make me tear up I have an almost 5-year-old little boy and he hits me every time
That flustered look on your face says it all. Hid song " my old friend" is a great tune also
One of the best country songs ever tbh, can't hear it without crying 😢 Tim Mcgraw has tons of great songs that will make you feel emotional!
I don't care if I hear this song one hundred times, I cry ugly tears every time.
I LOVE THIS SONG,,I CRY EVERYTHIME I HEAR IT!
Dad of two girls and a wife of 21 yrs this song rips me up every time.
Definitely a country music twist and play on words! Love this song! 😊
Live like you were dying is a must listen. Also very emotional
His "Please remember me" is also a heartbreaker
This song is so powerful, Tim McGraw is good at that. Listen to " Live like you are dying"
that song will get you everytime
"My best friend " another good one. This one gets me because it goes through the life progression of how we value our deepest relationships. From being young and just wanting to hang with the boys, to caring enough to give up our worldly goods. To finally willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for this person who you value more than your own life.
This was a live Event for the MDA charity. He does a lot of events like that for charities like that and St. Judes. He did “live like you were dying” for that one.
This song makes me cry every time. Absolutely beautiful
Some of my favorite Tim McGraw songs are My Little Girl, Live Like you Were Dying, and I Like it I Love it.
Its about life and love ..glad you understand country ...you're like me ..if its good music it don't matter what type it is
everytime i hear this song i get teary eyed
Did I see a teardrop? I kid because I sobbed 😭 🤪 I love your insights. Thank you.
Great song very touching thats for sure
I always took this to mean that Johnny's prayer was answered and Johnny left this world remembering that fishing trip.😢
My absolute favorite song of all time.
Live Like You Are Dying is another great one!
Find the video for Don’t take the girl…She survives 🥲
Love this song and your reaction
I cry every time I hear that song but love the song.
This was the music my mother and stepfather played while I was growing up. I love this song, it is beautiful and deeply touching. It's meaning changed for me when I was sixteen and accidentally got my girlfriend pregnant. She miss carried in the begin of the second trimester. It ended our relationship and changed this song for me. I listened to it over and over months. I still can't listen to it without crying and that was twenty odd years and a life time ago.
Tim crushed you. Watch the official video and you will get a better feeling of the song.
This is on my set list for every show I do. If this doesn’t hit you right in the “feels”, you’re already gone…
It doesn't matter how many times I hear this song I get misty eyed...
This song is TIMELESS
I was trying to explain to a friend what Country Music truely is. I played this song, he got it and actually started liking country
Beautiful song
I saw Tim in concert he sounds awesome live.
Makes me cry every time.
Beautiful!!
I love this song.
No tears yet??? Seriously I am crying at the picture show
This is a song I remember always singing with my dad growing up
Thank you for your comments and reactions ❤❤
When I saw this pop up on my feed, I was definitely looking forward to your reaction. I'm with others...there's a lot of dust in the air when I listen to this song. It's simple and has, as you say, a story that evolves.
i knew this song. i dont know why i clicked on this video. I knew i didn't want to cry today but here we are..
I cry every time!!❤️
The Mama lives in the end. The video to this tells the story along with the song.
I'm 6'4", beard, tattoos, a bikers son and vagabond. This song gets me in the feels..
I cry every time i hear this
Hope you have a good day too
Love this song.
Them country songs really master telling a story...
I’ve heard this song a million times and I still can’t sing it because I start to cry
another good country song with a story and beautiful voice.. martina mcbride - independence day
I always cry when I hear this song.
In the video of this song. At the at the end you see Johnny and his son getting ready to go fishing, then you see her running from the vehicle towards them with a picnic basket. So she lived.
This song makes me cry every time 😢
If you watch the official video, pay close attention at the end.
Live like you are dying is awesome 👌
