Don't Take The Girl does a good job of showing how perspective often changes as we grow, illustrated nicely by how the same phrase takes on a completely different meaning as a boy becomes a man.
You are the first reactor I've seen that actually acknowledges that his wife lived. Everyone else misses that. If you only heard this song on the radio, as I did, the ending leaves it open to the listener's interpretation.
@Cole Edward I disagree... they usually have a clear idea of what they want to do when filming videos. They plan it all out ahead of time and make sure that it follows/compliments the song and is easily understandable. So while they could have had the little girl start off blonde, then the teenage girl have red hair because she was going through a phase, and then have black hair when pregnant because that's the color she liked best, it wouldn't have been as easy to follow. They wouldn't have said "women change their hair color all the time, everyone will know it's the same woman." They kept it consistent to make it easier to follow.
My husband was career Army and we attended a military ball every year. We were stationed at Ft. Leavenworth, KS from '93-'99 and after "Don't Take The Girl" was released it was played every year. His military specialty was small so for most of his career we knew just about everyone wherever we were stationed. The scene was always a sea of dress uniforms and formal dresses (I told my DH that I got to go to a prom every year for 23 years!) and when the song was payed the majority of the females were in tears by the end of the dance. Even now I still surreptitiously wipe away a few tears when the song plays.
that was her running at the end, she survived. the point of the song was about the change of context of "don't take the girl". his dad told him "one day you'll change your mind".
The BEST song stories that grab and move people are country music songs...George Jones - "He Stopped Loving Her Today", Randy Travis - "Three Wooden Crosses", Tim McGraw - "Don't Take The Girl", Brad Paisley - "He Didn't Have To Be", Craig Morgan - "Almost Home" and the list goes on and on...
I hope one of your patreons suggest Brooks and Dunn, "Believe." Great story song. But there are so many story songs in country music, it is difficult to pick just one. Some are touching and some are even funny.
My son was born in may of that year. After almost 23 years she divorced me and we have been divorced now for 7 years and I still love her. Hard to believe how fast time has flown.
I have watched about 10 different reactions from this song and you are the first one out of all of them who actually watch it till the very end and see that the lady isn't dead. And because of that, I will subscribe to your channel. 👍
The little boy is only 8, he doesn't like girls at that age...the little girl is a neighbor girl and the boy doesn't want her to go fishing with him and his Dad. Ten years later when they are 18 they are dating and in love. Lol
Truth, you want to listen and react to Brooks and Dunn "Believe" or Rascal Flatts "Skin" That was a wonderful reaction. For another McGraw song try "Stay humble and Kind". If the music doesn't move you it's just a song. Upbeat..hmm Garth Brooks "We shall be Free",
Oh, wow I am so proud you are the only one I have seen got that she was not dead, and this is one of the reactions I have watched the most. You s bi ould see The Dad He Didn't Have to Be. By Brad Paisley. You will love that one too. And the baby in that video is Tim McGraw's nephew.
If you like storytelling in a song, try Fancy by Reba McEntire or Coal Miner's Daughter by Loretta Lynn or Coat of Many Colors by Dolly Parton. Thanks for doing this one. Always gets me in the feels too.
There are loads of brilliant songs and ones alot sadder and deeper than this one lol. Hurt by Johnny Cash, Teddy Bear by Red Sovine, Whisky Lullaby by Brad Paisley ft Alison Krauss to name a few. But there are some funny or upbeat ones like Not As Good As I Once Was by Toby Keith, a lot of the Waylon Jennings, Tom T Hall ones and Chattahoochie by Alan Jackson (who also does a good song about the 9/11 terror attack called Where Were You When the World Stopped Turning). Reba McEntire, Tanya Tucker, Garth Brooks, Kris Kristofferson and loads of others out there.
Angels Among Us by Alabama , The Greatest by Kenny Rogers , Three Wooden Crosses by Randy Travis are great songs to consider for an upcoming reaction video.
It's a song with Johnny and the girl from when they were 8 to when they're 23 she's pregnant and has a very difficult birth of her son but thankfully she's able to pull through and begin a life with her man and son
If you want a different style of country, check out the group Home Free. Its a country accapella group (tho they add their country flavor to other genres as well.). Their song “man of constant sorrow” is good. But thry also have 2 john denver covers of “thank god im a county boy” and “country roads take me home”🌹
Most country songs are sad as heck because of the culture from which it grew, but a John Denver, Jason Aldean, Brad Paisley and Johnny Cash have some more upbeat ones
Suggestion: The artist: Kenny Rogers, the song: 'Lady'. Do the Live version, if possible. The video has almost 77,000,000 views. I love your reactions!
I like the way you research the song and singer! I'm going to subscribe because of that! Don't forget the King of country George Strait - Check ✔️ yes or no! Would be a good happy song for you! Kenny Rogers - Lady. Conway Twitty - That's my job. Dolly Parton - Coat of many colors.
You save more than a little girl come from his dad set him up cuz he knew that little girl will be the love of his life parents always know in advance before you do and he did for his happiness and his well-being that's where she came from cuz he wanted him to be happy later on when he grow up
If you care to react to more sad country songs check out Chris Stapleton ‘Fire Away’ or Brad Paisley w/ Allison Krauss ‘Whiskey Lullaby’. An other great song is ‘The Face’ by Garth Brooks. You’ll want tissues…
Yeah, the song makes no mention of something as important as the wife's survival. The video shows a female, presumably the wife, at the end. So who do we believe? I have to go with the song, since the video is based upon the song, not the reverse.
Don't Take The Girl does a good job of showing how perspective often changes as we grow, illustrated nicely by how the same phrase takes on a completely different meaning as a boy becomes a man.
Shut up
You are the first reactor I've seen that actually acknowledges that his wife lived. Everyone else misses that. If you only heard this song on the radio, as I did, the ending leaves it open to the listener's interpretation.
I was going to post the same thing. Wow she actually noticed that the girl actually lives!
The "girl" was blonde. As was the little boy at the end. The woman at the end was brunette. Sorry.
He sure was small for 8.😄
@@hulkslayer626 Could have dyed her hair. Could be a different family. It's supposed to be left up to interpretation, to personalize it to everyone.

So glad you caught on that she survived and named her son Johnny after his Daddy and that was her running to them at the end.
As someone who never saw the video and never thought about it assumed the baby was named Johnny after his dad and the cycle continued.

Ash I think you're becoming a country music fan. Not a bad road to take. Not a bad road at all.
Loved your genuine reaction young lady. Thank you for sharing!
Good thing you watched the video because the song leaves you wondering
that was her running at the end, she survived. the point of the song was about the change of context of "don't take the girl". his dad told him "one day you'll change your mind".
All of us guys can relate.. as kids we want nothing to do with them girls, but how quickly that changes. lol
Big facts
For a happier country music song, I recommend "Chattahoochie" by Alan Jackson.
That would be a great song, I was thinking of a "Cheery" song to talk to her about as well, but this is a great recommendation

Country music has been described as 3 chords and the truth.
Country usually tells a story.
I find that country music as a whole is about life.
I always cry when I hear it
I hope one of your patreons suggest Brooks and Dunn, "Believe." Great story song. But there are so many story songs in country music, it is difficult to pick just one. Some are touching and some are even funny.
I would love to see “there goes my life” by Kenny Chesney another similar style
Both highlight country’s love of the musical motif.
i enjoyed your reaction. my first one seeing of you. makes me want to check out some more of your channel

You have one of the most calming voices I’ve ever heard
Humble and kind is a popular tim Mcgraw song.
One of the few good country genre artists or and musicians yeah

"If it's anything like a country boy can survive....: HAHAHAHA. You are in for a surprise.
A reactioner finally saw her at the end. Yay!!
Wish I could give you more than one like!

Whiskey lullaby
Lovely song and I love your reaction also. 🙂
Love your reaction girl!! Keep it up👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Yes we thought they were Icky. But now we love them like crazy
Because Johnny sacrificed his life for her's, she survived and named the baby Johnny after his daddy.
Good music always makes u feel
I hope u find a good man that has that kind of love for u one day
All you need to have country music is 3 guitar chords and the truth.
Try to listen to Colter Wall, Sleeping on the Blacktop
For a real tear jerker, try "He stopped Loving Her Today" by George Jones

Tim McGraw was married to country music star Faith Hill❤❤
not a huge fan of the newer, 'softer' country music...but this song is pretty amazing.
Most country songs are sad as heck because of the culture from which it grew, but a John Denver, Jason Aldean, Brad Paisley and Johnny Cash have some more upbeat ones
He is from my home state of Louisiana
You want a fun song look up Chris Ledux's "whatcha gonna do with a cowboy"
Suggestion: The artist: Kenny Rogers, the song: 'Lady'. Do the Live version, if possible. The video has almost 77,000,000 views. I love your reactions!
Thomas Rhett- Marry Me.
A generation later and known to make the ladies cry.
Without the video It is a cliffhanger.
