  • Deep drop bottomfishing out of Oregon Inlet for blueline tilefish, golden tilefish, and blackbelly rosefish. Fish were very cooperative at every stop we made this day, steady action the whole time!

I miss fishing from my home waters of the Outer Banks. I get to go with My Brother in Law at least twice a year on his 47 Viking though, so that's cool. We go out of Virginia Beach Va.

Whenever I go fish around the Gulf Stream, I always like to pull up google map to see parts of the outer banks is extremely close to the shelf. I always wonder to myself how come there’s hardly any footage of deep dropping out of the outer banks!?!? Even Virginia has a few regarding the canyon. I’m truly glad I’ve found your channel! I really enjoy deep drop fishing especially in areas that I think there are potential. Though, not sure if they’re popular in terms of getting lots of viewers, but thanks for sharing ❤

I'm not sure why it isn't more popular. Part of it probably has to do with the amount of tide that is often encountered out there. Makes bottom fishing pretty challenging. Plus you can only keep one snowy grouper and three goldens per vessel, most charters would rather load up on bluelines.

You are exactly right. Growing up offshore fishing VA Beach, No one ever really got into deep dropping. I live in Savannah Ga now and did not realize how spoiled I was up there. I run a 32 Regulator at least 80-90 offshore and its only 250-300 ft deep. What a Joke (and the fishing sucks compared to up there).

No clue on the rosies and goldens but bluelines are pretty easy to find, flatter bottom in 250-300' and has to be mud. Should be able to feel the mud on the sinker

And sometimes you overfish a spot

Tilefish have a short season and seem to be pretty abundant each year. Plenty to go around! Golden Tile is already closed recreationally until 2024 in NC I believe.
