I memorize one poem each month. Day one, I encode the poem onto my memory palace ( I also write out the first letter of each word), then every morning I recite the poem (and sometimes the previous month's poem too.) I find it to be very valuable. These poems enhance my life and I learn something about the poem with each recitation. Also, love the fun camera angles! 😆
Man what you taught me over the years really paid off because I have been using the exact method to memorize texts and definations for 2 whole years now. Thank you Nelson and great work looking forward to more memory tips in 2024
I've memorized hundreds of thousands of words of poetry and prose in my lifetime, and though I think the memory palace can be valuable, it doesn't really work for such vast amounts of information. I do create images for each block of information, but I just trust my mind to take me to the right place when I begin each poem. The time between learning sessions while you are NOT studying is the most important part in the end. Your subconscious will work on the material automatically. I also memorize all the punctuation and the layout of the material on the page. If I can visualize it, it helps me immensely with recall.
Aye man just to let you know that you make amazing content, if you love making videos, never stop making them no matter the views! btw u definitely deserve more
Great video! Unfortunately for me, Invictus is the only poem I have memorised previously, which means I can't add another poem to my mental self just yet. But the technique is awesome! ❤
Yo Nelson. I am a Rubik's cuber and you could say I specialize in the event called multiblind, where you memorize and solve as many cubes as possible in an hour. I am reading a lot and watching your videos to get a good idea of hoe memory athletes do things. A lot of memory league knowledge isn't so well known in the cubing community. Anyways, there is one thing I really want to find out more about: review-systems for the marathon events in the memory league/ the world championchips. In multi blind the execution rellies on quick recall and it is a part of the hour at your disposal, which is to my knowledge different from 1-hour cards for example. Therefore, I am interested in how much review memoryathletes need using their memorization systems. I am also planning a PAO for solving cubes blind which will have ~550 PAO pairs which only a handfull of people in the world have done. Hope you have some information for my about what the best in the world do, how much variation there is and maybe how long it takes for them to recall it all? Maybe you have a link to a place with more information on this? Thanks. -Rasmus
Honestly there are better resources than him for cubing specific questions. Try speedcubeforums. There’s some great pointers there. I myself solve consistently sub 10 and am fair at bld a lot due to the online help.
Great video! I have a question about re-using or multiplying palaces: in your experience, can you multiply a palace by adding different "atmosphere" to it? For example, once imagining the whole place on fire, once frozen over and covered in snow.
You are the best man, you taught me a method of memorizing Word for word, you said you learnt it from lauren tothero, using this method you just used and that first letter of each word, which one is more effective?
Hey there Nelson! I focus on solving Rubik’s cubes blindfolded fast, and am exploring multiple cubes blindfolded, and am always one for trying to push limits. How do you think you’d fair in solving multiple cubes blindfolded? And what method of memory would you use, or rather memory system? Obviously memory palaces, but how would you be encoding the sticker locations? Letter pairs forming images? Or something more efficient? I’m on the hunt for a more efficient way of storing the information, instead of 2 bits per image, I want 4 bits, but don’t think letter quads are feasible for cubing. What are your thoughts?
I can't grasp this, neader the POA system from 3,141 digits of pi. I know these things shall be interesting so they are memorable, but is there a system that is not as abstract?
Just getting back into cards, do you keep up on speed cards? What are your times these days, after a year off, and a month back in, I'm getting a few around 30 seconds.
Im wondering while watching this how can i remember over 1000 question of machine elements while remembering hiwnthey work and answer for each question
The real challenge seems to me to be scaling this to 100 poems, or 1000 poems. It's easy to memorize one, but you can't re-use your memory palace too many times for multiple, and eventually the images start to go into one another.
Correct. I would use different memory palaces. Ultimately the goal would be to get the poem hardwired into your procedural memory. Once it's there, you can start to use a memory palace over again with something new.
@@NelsonDellisso I can use the same Memory Palaces over and over again for different subjects? Is it just a case of ‘loading’ in the new sequence over the established stations in your MP. I don’t think I’d have enough real world MPs to cover all the info, also a lot of the places are in other countries I can’t get back to
I use a similar sort of method to learn Chinese, and it doesn’t really blend like that. Though my ways of memorizing 钱 and 前 (money; behind) are similar, I dont get them mixed up
We’re as a Muslim learning by heart Quran, Sunna-prophet’s saying- poems and books so the simple way is repeat and repeat and repeat that’s it. The memories is the traditional way of learning to learn in Islamic schools in the past so we keep doing this but not all of us. Now I’m memorising Quran I repeat each verse 40 times and it pays off.
I was just thinking about this. If the goal is to memorize a religious text, then the palace method may not be appropriate or useful. We know from tradition that the method was to repeat the sabaq, the manzil and something else I am forgetting - so near memory and far memory was constantly refreshed.
Hey nelson, first of all I like the content that you shared on youtube here the knowledge that shared here for free is amazing and life changing, and I even read your book that you wrote. Can you explain to us how in this video ruclips.net/video/avzEBkq1U1U/видео.html , how the memorize it and the Jonas Von Essen part in this video ruclips.net/video/iy0D51UqRS0/видео.html, (which i also know that you attended the show before), thank you and have a good day ☺
For years now I’ve been coming to your channel and thinking, “how does it have so few views?”
Please don't give it up. Seeing your path is magical.
Thank you!

This makes me so happy. Invictus used to be one of my favorite poems, got me through some tough times
We had to learn this in the 6th grade, and as you spoke the lines came back to me so that I couldn’t hear anything else you said. Lol! I’m 72.
That was an awesome video. Thank you for making it with such detail. 🎉

Wow this is a great breakdown...I had given up and thought my memory was bad... but this gives me motivation to try again
Beautiful videography, very entertaining to warch and sooo helpful ❤
Thank you!
One trick I used was to read the poem backward, from bottom to top.
Danke!

Please make a video on how to memorize a essay in less time
Im wondering while watching this how can i remember over 1000 question of machine elements while remembering hiwnthey work and answer for each question
How many poems can you recite on command right now?
can you memorize "Flow G-Rapstar''
I literally have to perform a poem tomorrow and its 12am AAAAA AHAHAHAHAHHA
U should make a video memorizing Bible verses. That would be awesome!
Where was this in 2006? 😂
