Who else is here because they were procrastinating?
I'm literally watching this because i have a speech to do in a language I barely know about lol
@@C1xmm_was_h3re real😭I have to do 2 speeches tmr
my first lead proformance is in 2 weeks and im less than half memorized
I preform a play as the main character in less then a month and I barely know the first 2 scenes 😭😭
@@meghangacha6250 do you not have rehersals? I barely put effort into memorization for my first lead role (I proformed 4 days ago) because rehersing on stage with a script just gives you such a good sense of the lines
You literally saved my life 2 days before my audition. 😭
Glad to help!!
I have a monologue I have to do in 10 days and it's 5 pages long (standard size) in 10 size font. I'm screwed.
I have a 6 page script i have to act in 5 days!!
I believe in you that you got your monologue memorized in time!!
I memorized my remaining 200+ lines the last 2 days of tech before opening Hamlet. Anything is possible. The human brain is capable of so much.
Dude i gotta memorize a 12 page script by 2:30 pm tmr and its 10:41pm rn 😭😭
God abeg
@@marcelineevans2127 how did it go?
I am going to be in a play on Friday and I have 80 lines in total. I have about 20 more lines to memorize. I’m supposed to be off script today or tomorrow, so I’m really thankful for this! Thanks!
Hey man, you're a great teacher.
Hands down you helped me accomplish my first stage play.
Your methods as simple as they are latched onto my lazy persona easily hahaha! Stay safe sir, you'll make it far. 🙏
Thanks for the awesome feedback Riz! Glad I could help!
3:01 So this explains why pacing back and forth, the night of the show, backstage helps me!
I knew I was onto something going on those walks, but the reading it from different perspectives is genius. Definitely going to add that. Thank you!
The covering the next line and then revealing it to check yourself was super helpful!
Glad that one helped!
so many videos out there are just rambling for 10 minutes but the way you explained the tips is so clear, thanks man !
You're so welcome!
By reading it thru different perspectives you are actually making the memory association stronger. When it comes to memory, it's like a balloon on its way up to the clouds. Try tying it's tail with different stones and you'll make it stay. Tie it with one stone and you'd lose it. Also what would make a stone heavy is dependent upon the emotions in it. If a certain memory has deep emotions behind it will always translate to long term.
I'd be screwed without this, Thanks
These are valuable tips. If there's one area needing improvement, it's how any presenter appears in front of the camera.
i have my highschool musical play for drama and we started it a bit late, the plays on tuesday and i barely know my lines because it’s been so rushed. gonna try this out tonight until tuesday and see how it works, thanks man
Break a leg!
Perfect! I've actually been doing many of these myself and nice to see I'm on the right track. Thanks for the tips!
You're so welcome!
The active part makes sense! I had to learn 106 songs acapella in less than three months
And I found that I retained the melody and script better when I was on the cycling machine!
Wow! Thanks for the awesome feedback! Glad you agree with this too.
Thanks, this will help me out on my path to an actor
Thank you so much! I’m the main character in a play and I really struggled with remembering my script so this really did help. :D
You're so welcome! Break a leg!
Thank you so much for this! I auditioned for a main role at my school because the teachers always give me small roles and we had to audition with a practice script so what I did I took my script home and left it in my bag and just realised tmr is the audition and I need to practice QUICK. Thanks to your 2nd tip of moving and practising, I learnt it in abt 20 mins. Tysm I’m very grateful.
Loving the subtle merch drop. Veeeery clever
Dang I'm not an actor or anything but I admire him for how clean and well he articulates things. Would that be from acting too I wonder 😀
Not an audition, but i have a 5 minute pitch that i need to write and memorise. Im awful at memorising things, and while it does help that im writing my own script, this video will (hopefully) help a ton. Thank you!
This video has helped me so much! I found other RUclips advice convoluted, this was much simpler and I’m sure will help. Thanks!
Thank you for this great approach- I am a theatre teacher, and have shared your method with my students as another approach to learning lines quickly.
Wow! Thanks for the feedback!
Great 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻! Thank you🌺🌷🌸
You are so welcome! Was there any one tip that helped the most?

You're so welcome man!
I have 3 days to remember 2 of Hamlet's monologue from, well, Hamlet. Thanks for your help.
I really liked this video. It was very informative but also gave me a different slant on memorising lines. Doing the actions as well helped give me an idea of how to portray the character, and also helped me become that character. Well done, and thank you for sharing.
Thanks for giving it a watch and for sharing such an insightful review! Best of luck
Smart actor!😊 Thank you!
Thank you ! Hope it helps :)
Thanks for the video 🎭👍🏽

Before watching this vid when my audition is in 2 days and I gotta learn 7 damn pages of the script: Imma dead bro how am I gonna show my face to my friends!? And teachers!?
Me after the vid: oh 😅 I thought the world would collide but it's a nice sunny day 😂😂
I have a 73 page script to memorise within the next 5 weeks, it's my first actual play, macbeth by Shakespeare and as someone whos new to acting, getting the role of macbeth is a lot of pressure and I hope this works
Use the different perspectives for sure!
very informative!!!
Glad you think so!!
I literslly need this for monday, thank you
You're soo welcome! Glad to help
@@themodernactor thanks, I just did one of the plays this morning, it was perfect. I got one to do every day till friday
When do you know when to speak. Or does that come with reading the whole script over and over
Great question! As you read the script using the 4 different perspectives your brain will start to memorize your cue word (your partner's line that triggers your next sentence). However, memorization is also about actively listening to what's being said to you. So many of your next lines will come naturally as true responses in the moment! Hope this helps!
Im a understudy for a huge part freaking out
Even better than printing and holding your hand over the next part is flash cards, as they're easier to work with
Thanks bro…
Great advice Eddie, very concise🙏🏼
Thanks Patrick
Love this thank you
Great video with a lot of tips!
So glad this helps!
I’m going to try this out thanks!
Love it man! Let me know how it goes
@@themodernactor completely forgot about this comment but I killed it! the tips on standing up and printing it out were things I honestly never thought of and it worked thanks!

Repetition.Repetition. You got this friend!

And here I am, not even able to remember what I had for breakfast somedays
Im supposed to be completely of script by tomorrow and im almost finished but im having trouble with remebering my ques so hoping this works
A whole page for tomorrow, watching this video at 22:27, and stressed asf.
Yep, its me.
You got this man!
I am in the play Waiting for Godot as Estragon and most of my lines are a word or a sentence like ping pong with the other actor. Do I learn the other lines or at least the last word or phrase before my line?
Great question! I would use the last word of your partner's line as a trigger for you to respond with your next line.
Another great exercise is to repeat each other's line before saying your next one. Not only does this help reinforce your memorization but it helps you really take in the intention of their last line to you. A common mistake factors have in these fast paced scenes is they are so focused on getting the lines down they forget to really listen and take in what their partner is saying to them. Hope this helps!!!
Bro I literally have romeo and Juliet this week and I have to learn the second half of my lines 💀
I have an audition in 3 weeks would it be possible to memorize 2 monologues? Its 18 lines total
Absolutely! Repetition...repetition! You've got this! 3 weeks is plenty of time
