  • Okay, folks - strap in for a wild ride! This collaboration between 5MIINUST & Puuluup (Eesti Laul 2024) is super fun and a little dizzying. It probably won’t win over everyone but we enjoyed the spectacle. Poor Ollie, though - always the bridesmaid! #eurovision #esc2024

5miinust are a rap group, Puuluup are folk band playing on talharp wooden traditional instrument and luper (hence the band's name: puu= wood, luup= luper:). Been following both for a while, i have been listening to this song ever since it was released to Eesti Laul (Estonia's pre selection contest) and it an endless fun. So happy for Estonia they chose to be proud in their language instead yet another song in English, this to me is a whole winning formula - fun, enjoyable, folk, explossive on stage, i get the same feeling i had ladt year with Kaarja, so far i don't see any other country with such a cool whole package song. It gets my total 12 points, i am from Israel, we are at same semi final as Estonia, i will vote for them as much as i can!:))) Banger:).

The song was born when a band member from Puuluup and 5Miinust were driving in a car, and the older guy (Vsauce 😂) telling to the other guy that “you know, about drugs I really do know nothing”. I love Puuluup songs, they’re magical. Ofc different from that one.

I love the attitude of this collaboration song and performance, but I had to look up Puuluup when I read they play neo-folk - what would that sound like? Their music is intriguing, their use of vocals as a rhythm instrument is great for a listener like me who doesn't understand Estonian! Every ESC that makes me find some new artist to listen to more (beyond their participation in the contest) is a good ESC.

The legendary dance is from there.
It is a part of the heritage culture of Vorms. The dance of the wood lube looks like the dance of a hunter or warrior before going on a hunt or war.
Vormsi is a 93 km² island in the Baltic Sea, in the territory of Lääne County. It is the fourth largest island in Estonia. According to legend, the island was named after the Icelandic Viking Orm, another version is the pirate Orm described in the legend of St. Olaf, and the third is the 13th century bishop Orm.

Haha the lyrics are definitely tongue in cheek, the title translates to something like ‘No we don’t know anything about (those) drugs’, note the (those) in parentheses 😅

Maybe New Zealand should also participate in the Eurovision Song Contest like Australia does? As an Estonian, I think it could be fun 😉
