      Suzuki has a history of studying it's competition, IE. Kawi Ltd then zuk L. Which was similar and better. Ninjas then gsxrs. Yamaha is more experimental. Honda brings out innovation first quite often. Suzuki does have it's first however. Kawasaki usually pushes performance. But Honda is the leader in most respects. The founder Mr Honda adamantly insisted on 4 stroke engines and I'm glad he did

I hoped they would have sorted them out with the Gen 2 version released in 2020 but there are still people selling those bikes because they have too many problems. To be fair a lot of owners say they have never had an issue but from what I can see they are nothing like Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki etc reliability. It’s rare to see someone selling a nearly new Jap bike because of repeated problems with them.

      Side cases and center stand come standard in the US. US$ 18,500. This is a great direction for the category. An adjustable windscreen as a retro fit will be a welcome upgrade. I ride an FJR and a Multistrada - putting up that windscreen on-the-fly is like adding a layer of clothing. Hat off to Suzuki! If you haven’t ridden a semi-active suspension, you are missing out on the magic carpet ride. Incredible. Game changing.

    Not sure it's Suzuki's "first" bike of this kind because they had the Bandit 1200/1250 and GSX1250F but it is interesting to see there's a tall version of the GSX1000GT. I think I'd have the GT in this case as for higher speed riding I prefer a slightly more leaned over and lower bike. If I wanted to sit upright I'd have the V-Strom 1050 and gain some off-road capability as well. I get what Suzuki are aiming for though and this will probably sell well and be a great rival to the Tracer 900, NT1100, Versys 1000 and BMW's offerings.

    • @kannermw
      @kannermw 11 месяцев назад +1

      This is an attractive and interesting bike but too many compromises to call a legitimate sport tourer. I own 2022 Versys 1000SE and there is no way you can suggest by comparison this new Suzuki is a proper 2-up sports tourer unless your definition of sport is based purely on top-end power which in this case is unusaeable at legal and prudent speeds. The Suzuki representative clearly stated the emphasis is on sport and also no top box due to weight positioning. If your definition of 2-up touring means no more than 60 miles in a day with passenger due to mediocre ergonomics and comfort then IMO that is not anything remotely resembling the abilities of a touring motorcycle.
      Looking at the side-by-side comparison the GT frame and seats look identical along with rearward footpeg positioning. It is a lifted version of GT with different fairings, taller bars, electronic suspension, and different windscreen. This means it is still a shorter wheelbase motorcycle with it's associated limitations (2" shorter than Versys) . If I was in market for this sort of motorcycle and about 25 years younger I would definitely choose it over GT but not over Versys 1000 for 2-up touring. The good news is this competition will force Kawasaki to up its game on the Versys. If you want to see what I would consider to be it a more legitimate "sports tourer" that would be the BMW S1000XR.

I know they would add some cost, but the benefit allows for an extended riding season and you don't have to wear super thick gloves just to stay warm. Beautiful bike, good power, good curb weight, Suzuki reliability. I would consider a tall crossover as a replacement for my trustworthy V-STROM 1050XT as I seldom go off tarmac. However, at this price point - no heated grips, no adaptive cruise, no center stand, 19-liter tank, hex key adjustable windscreen, questionable top box mount. Just too many misses.

    • @nicolas277
      @nicolas277 11 месяцев назад +4

      there is a center stand as standard, heated grips are optional but I understand your point, it got cruise control (adaptive cruiser is for people not looking in front of them, I suggest you stay attentive when riding a bike), do you really need to adjust you windshield on the fly ? Set it to your preference and leave it at that. And for the 19 litre tank, you still get slightly better range than the Ninja 1000SX and similar to every other bikes in that category. Bigger tank would mean heavier bike and higher CG, which would make for a worst bike. As for the top box mount, it seems to be a perfect place for my tailbag when i'm riding with a passenger.

      @@nicolas277 Such inexperienced, silly comments. Riding 500 mile days, one feathers the cruise 10s of times to manage speed. Adaptive cruise solves that in a safer way. An easily adjustable windscreen is used to circumvent rain, condensation, fog, cold, and heat.

    • @nicolas277
      @nicolas277 11 месяцев назад

      @@terrellgarren7125 nice constructive comments.... I'm too tall for a windshield, seems to only bring more noise and turbulence to my helmet, so that's why I ride a naked bike and I still do 500 miles ride with it. Seems like ajusting the windshield by 50mm doesn't do much for heat and rain compared to not having one in the first place. Seems more like a placebo. As for the cruise control, I simply hate adaptive because if it's like in car, you can't deactivate the adaptive side of it, just change the range. So given the choice, I prefer to go without the adaptive.

    Suzuki first year of the TL was green in the U.S.

    Windshield adjustable to low and high? They should at least add a lower cowl or skirt to cover those exhaust like the Norden. Add in the Mandello side flare winglets, and that would be even more astonishing crossover. 👍

    As far as heated grips? I finally have some really hot ones on my 9gt I mean they can really get warm problem is grip heaters only warm the palms but tops of hands still get uncomfortably cold so I would just as soon save msrp and buy good heated GLOVES instead. Would be nice to have heated gloves specifically made for bikes with grip heaters IOW heating elements only on the top of gloves allowing the same size battery to last twice as long compared to full hand heated gloves? OR same length of run time but with tiny faster changing batteries?

      I have 2022 Versys 1000 as well but this Suzuki is too oriented to sport with rearward peg position and not enough room for passenger. Then no adjustable windscreen, cornering lights and only single headlight. Most importantly no top box is a non-starter for me.

      and the Versys' fuel consumption is amazing, plus its 21-litre tank capacity. On the other hand, manufacturers like Givi, Shad and SW-Motech will surely develop a top base plate mount for suzuki and will probably supply a top case in time.

    In the USA Suzuki has the bike priced at $18,499 vs 2024 Tracer at $16,499. Even the BMW S1000XR is less starting at $18,190.
    Suzuki accountants missed the mark with this one.

    So many features and price similar to the excellent Moto Guzzi V100 Mandelo S, which also has active suspension and gadgetry like electronic screen adjustment. Of course the Guzzi is a bit dearer, due to having Ohlins suspension and not Showa.

    Overall pretty brilliant if it performs as promised. That lack of Suzuki top box is unacceptable, however, as I can easily get an OEM integrated solution for the GS and XR and am not a fan of soft luggage.
