I need to make a huge correction here. Leo uses katanas. Those are Longswords, not short swords. Kensai makes sense. Making longswords monk weapons fit the character. I would do monk 4, rogue 4, fighter 12. If you wanted 2nd attack sooner, then go monk 5, rogue 4, and fighter 11.
Actually despite them being called katanas, the design you most often see Leo use are ninjato swords. Which are shorter than katanas and have a straight blade. He's skilled in using katanas and is trained in dual weilding them, but just based on the design you most often see him with, they aren't his actual primary weapon. They've just been called the wrong thing over the years.
This is either a major issue for ever hitting with an attack, a matter of style, a willingness to be smugly stubborn, or just a confusion on sword nomenclature that couldn’t be more common in DnD. My opinion is the later. Longswords in DnD aren’t what HEMA people and sword historians call longswords, first off. A katana is more or less functionality similar to real life longswords, as they are primarily designed as two handed weapons. However the longswords listed in the Player’s Handbook for all versions if DnD have always been listed as one handed weapons. This type of sword would most likely be classified as an arming sword or perhaps a side sword, depending on hilt design. Of course there is the bastard sword (aka the hand and a half sword). I’ve heard of katana being treated as master-work bastard swords in DnD. All of this being said, visually Leonardo has almost always been depicted as using non curved blades, most importantly in my opinion in the original Mirage Comics, which being not only the first but most brutal by far, official version of Leonardo is the best basis for his inclusion in DnD. Ultimately in my opinion what matters the most is the dice. If the Tortle race is given a natural claw attack that does d6, the the swords should do at least d8 or else they’re meaningless. Giving a first level character d10 damage rolls from two master-work weapons feels like even more unnecessarily excessive favoritism for Leonardo shown by Master Splinter to be even marginally fair. He outfitted Donatello with a friggin stick for gosh sakes. So give Leo the d8 swords, but not master-work and definitely not curved swords. If you read all of this, thank you. If you disagree, go to the 6th hell. This is the final ruling on this matter.
no he shafted Michelangelo the most he gave him a lame stick called the nunchucks if you have a stick the same length and thickness of nunchucks except without the chain in the middle thay would be far more effective weapons
Personally, I think urchin is a better background for the Turtles. The urchin feature that allows faster travel through cities represents moving through the sewers.
Another great build, but I except for Leo's fighter subclass should've been samurai because of Leo's training when he couldn't walk on his own for a while and overcame himself. It felt like a very samurai-esk moment for him Also another day of me requesting a Shinra Kusekabe
This is solid enough. When I made mine, I went Rogue Assassin 3/Fighter Samurai 17. The Rogue Assassin 3 was a base for all 4 turtles. Raph I went Barbarian, Mikey I went Monk, Donnie I went Artificer.
You need to do a Sung Jin-Woo D&D build from the Korean Manga Series Solo Leveling. It's very spell and stealth based, and I wouldn't mind some inspiration from someone who is way more knowledgeable than me 😅
I would have done a couple of things differently. I would have made Strength and Intelligence both 10. Leo has that, "not bad at anything" vibe. But more importantly, I would have gone level 3 Monk to get Longsword and Longbow. Leo has canonically used a longbow too.
Anime character suggestion! Archer (Emiya) from Fate. Am quite new to the channel and DnD, im looking forward to more builds you make. I just used ur Shield Hero build for a one-shot today, it was so fun to use! Was the first time ive tried out to be a tank/support.
Does 5th edition not have the rules that allow anyone to dual wield? The -6/-10 rule with a +2 for a light off hand = -4/-8 Unless your DM is cool about light main hand then -2/-6. “Extra unarmed strike” should be unarmed right? So it should be a 3rd attack, and since both hands are holding swords, the extra attack must be a NINJA KICK.
I just don't see katana as short swords. I understand why you made the choice mechanically, but thematically it misses for me. Katana are longswords. Katana had an average length of 100-110cm. Longswords had an average length of 100-140cm. Shortswords were around only 80cm overall.

Came here to say exactly that about Katanas = Longswords; approximately, anyway.

@@coleslade Nope... He's using katanas in most depictions. (He uses ninjato in three depictions though).

Loved that you made the full build focused on the character's concept but mentioned the optimized options in the end! Great video and build!

Samurai fits in name and theme, but not mechanics. Throwing a subclass which relies on bonus actions onto a dual wielding build causes congestion.

It just feels better to have the katana be longswords, this will allow Raph's sai to be short swords now, rather than daggers.
Agile parry is good for this build too. Use a Ki point and kick your opponent in the head while dual wielding for a +2 AC boost.
Deathstroke build 👀?
Yes please
personally i would drop the rouge levels and put them into kensai monk for the Magical Kensai Weapon bonus
Anime character suggestion! Archer (Emiya) from Fate.

I second that. Only Slyfox has attempted that before and he had to use a dragonmark (from Eberron).
Guyver the bioboosted armor.
You should do a top 10 list of your own builds that would work in Baldur's Gate 3.
When Raphael
Hey! Have you seen Mutant Mayhem yet?

You can dual wield no matter what, but if you don't have the fighting style then you don't get to add your ability modifier to the damage.
Man I for sure rolled a nat 20 luck, I had just picked up a pizza and didn't even know this was out
Hey man anyway you could make a Mashle Burnedead build from Mash mashle magic and muscles?
do you take requests for builds i'm looking to make Rash, Zitz, or Pimple from battletoads as a D&D 5e build using probably grung race
Suggestion: Lil Slugger from Paranoia Agent.
Could you build impa from Highrule warriors

Raph is my favorite turtle, but Leo is a close second.
Also, scimitar is better for katana but you need a way to get the proficiency.
Always a banger! What if you did one for Noctis from final fantasy 15? That’d be dope.
Can you do Talion(middle earth)?
You should do a build for Kisame Hoshigaki from Naruto
I do have another Naruto build coming up very soon, but it doesn't happen to be for that character
