Man Toro is overly proud of their stuff! I'm sure they’ll make everything over priced and less reliable. 😡
I had my concerns too. Yes thats usually what happens you are right on point however I'm hearing they are keeping it as is. Ditch Witch employees all stayed on just moved around some. The price was already stupid it did get crazy stupid now that the consumers have to absorb buy out money.
Have used SKs since 2006.
Now we have DITCH WITCH SK1050 and SK1550. Have quit taking a skid loader to most jobs. Feel like we get more done with less effort and time. Technicians are top notch also. Been pleased for 14 years.
Thanks for the real-world perspective!
I support this review 500% I'm the commenter that had the 700hrs on the mt85 with a rocked undercarriage... we now have an sk850 even though it's not perfect the undercarriage is light years ahead of the bobcat design and I can confirm that the ground speed is much better forward and especially reverse. Tracks last less than 300 hours on a bobcat mini..
same here at 500 hours it was junk, 5k down the drain for undercarriage/bearings.....
I have a 2016 dw sk750 I love it. 1200hrs but uses no oil no leaks and sounds heathly.
Very informative!👍🏻🇺🇸
I rent an SK600 for $175 for 24 hours from a local guy. I'm lucky. Iit's cheap to rent, it's a great machine, and I don't have to buy/maintain the machine.
I've been trying to decide between a Bobcat MT100 and a Ditch Witch SK800. This may have convinced me
What did you get it wrong because I’m in the same situation.
@@ZR1Terror Actually found a really good deal on a barely used Dingo 525 Wide Track on eBay. Couldn't be happier with it. Good luck on your search!
I'm really interested in the Kabota line.
Thank You!!!
I have the same machine and it completely outperforms the bobcat in all categories. Those look like aftermarket tracks on your sk where did you get them from? I’m at 1300 hours and Im looking for new tracks
The new dingo is pretty nice
Hi how do I get the tracks back on if it comes off?
@Suma
Take all the grease out and push in the front ideler wheel
One thing ditch witch needs to do is make the bucket dump steeper. It takes too long for it to empty without shaking the bucket and sometimes throwing dirt where you don't want it. It's a very simple fix, just use a longer hydraulic cylinder for the bucket. It's not a huge deal, but why not make every improvement possible to increase productivity and performance? Overall they're a great machine.
I have this sk850 it has a twin stick we converted it to single joystick it will also do a 180 on a section of 4 by 8 plywood without touching the grass.
The optional joystick as simple as plug and play? What's the cost $1200?
It's not exactly Plug and Play it comes with all the parts you need but you need to be mechanically inclined and it will take you about two and a half to three hours to do it you must label all the parts and hoses and put them in the correct ports I would highly suggest having this done at the ditch witch dealer if you're not a hundred percent confident in hydraulic lines and fittings I believe the price is around $600 for the kit, and I would imagine to shop hours of $100 an hour so figure eight hundred bucks you could get it's converted to a joystick
@@treadlightlyservicesllc.1930 Thank you that's actually cheaper then I expected. Good to know it's not just plug and play. I won't have any issues with the install. I just picked up locally a Sk850 PLUS (300 pound weight kit) = SK1050. After 7 years of running and loving my little 2005 Toro Dingo TX420. It was time to move up the 850 Plus being half the price of a Sk1050 fit my requirements and budget. They are extreamly hard to find. The exhuast threw the hood definaly gives it character. I wrote a blog.

@@treadlightlyservicesllc.1930 We have a 850 and would never convert to single joystick. My friend has my same machine and converted from double to single joystick and the machine will not turn as tight as the dual joystick, he wants to convert back.
@@jrac863 its all user preference.. we had both on a job, a sk1050 dual joysticks and our sk850 plus joystick...everyone hated the silly dual stick levers, and yes we here doing 90* and 180* on sheets of plywood coming out of backyards the joystick WILL do a zero turn on a 4x8 sheet of plywood.
got a question for u guys .If u were happy with your sk machines why would you demo a bobcat machine.I love my sk850 and would never think about buying another brand. And as far as toro buying ditch witch don't worry about it ,They know this is a great machine nothing will change.
Is 2k hrs a lot on sk850 2016 model?
It all depends on where you are right now. If it's your first machine and it's priced fair in good condition I have no problems with it. I'm at the other end of this deal I'm usually selling at 2500 - 3000 hour. My first machine was a used SK650 it did the job and paid for itself quickly.
@@FRENCHDRAINMAN Got ya!!! I’m in Ohio, I’m looking at a machine 6 plus from me and it’s a tree company selling it. This will be my first machine and I will probably start off using it once a week. However, you convince me to go ditch witch with your top notch videos. I’m trying to wait when it gets cold when people are ready to sell. The individual tracks are huge selling point for me.
@@FRENCHDRAINMAN By the way he’s asking $19,500
I would have a Mechanic look it over if the machine is in good shape he will agree to let you pay for a mechanic to look it over. If there is nothing to hide. Oil leaks anywhere should be a concern. Let it run for awhile test drive it on high throttle under load ask him to arrange boulders or paver brick pallets anything to labor the engine and stress the hydraulic system. If it's dry and no leaks or unusual smells of oil or antifreeze it's definitely priced cheap it should be several thousand dollars more.
Toro bought Ditch Witch?? expect vulnerabilities and programmed obsolescence and expensive maintenance..
I hope they don't do like they did to Lawn Boy and kill it
Toro no good
