- Some great up-close moments here. Being front row center (the seat was empty after the break, so I sat down) I kept the camera low and let it roll, Belew giving me several glancing smiles throughout the night. (I was so blown away by the music that many times I lost focus and the camera bounces and wanders. Sorry.)
Was a big King Crimson fan in the 70s but never saw them live until last night. I'm 71, don't like crowds or loud music much anymore but I went to this iteration of KC not expecting to be moved in any way as they moved me in my youth. I am so glad I ignored these misgivings and went, it was glorious! The virtuosity of these players and their obvious ability to gel their diverse talents for the love of a bygone era of rock really touched my soul. GO DAMN YOU GO!!! Thanks Tracy
I was blown away by Steve Vai's interpretation of The Sheltering Sky. Wow, he took that song to a completely different level with his creativity. I saw the Beacon Theater show in NYC on 10/5.
The best live band on the planet right now. Absolutely amazing
Na..... STILL phish
Every time I see Steve Vai play is a gift. To say I'm in constant awe of this guy is a vast understatement. I've never heard an KC music that I'm aware of, but this absolutely blew me away. That solo was....just mind-blowing. He just keeps getting better and better every year. It's just insane.
I saw Hendrix, UK, CK, Holdsworth, Jeff Beck, Allman Brothers with Duane, Weather Report with Jaco, Frank Zappa with Steve Vai and more. This is one of the best shows I ever saw in my life. I have a another ticket to see them in San Antonio in December.
Lucky man
I’ve watched Sheltering Sky of most previous shows. ANYONE who was at the Thousand Oaks show _should_ realize what WE saw that night from Vai … was DIVINE INTERVENTION!!! 👀😮💨
I felt it that night (as did the crowd that flew outta their SEATS before the song was over for a STANDING-O), and just wanna verify it.
Verified!! 🤘🤘🤘🤘 Best night of the tour I’ve seen so far!!
We saw Beat in Charlotte on 10/1 and it was hands down one of the best shows I’ve ever seen and heard. I love the originals with Fripp and Bruford but I really appreciated how Steve and Denny brought their personal styles to these songs. Most importantly, I’ve never seen a group smile so much and enjoy putting on a show as this lineup did. It was infectious. There is so much talent on this stage! Get tickets to your local show if you still can and enjoy the experience.
So good. The beautiful thing about music is its mystical ability to communicate, when other means of communication are predisposed to ideals and opinions. Music has no ego, it has no agenda.
Thank god for music and the remarkable musicians who make it. It’s my salvation. Four of the best musicians on the planet get together and play the music of one of the most revered of all prog rock, bands, King Crimson. Each and everyone of these players are putting aside their own musical agendas for the betterment of the songs. I would expect nothing less from these stellar musicians.
Mr. Vai is in his element! The whole band was so good! Thanks for posting!
It's so good to see Steve Vai in this setting. Just amazing - really a dream come true kind of thing. Love seeing the joy emanate from Adrian. 15.38 - Vai firing up - gold. Can we take a moment to recognise what an amazing job Adrian has done to preserve his voice. 25.19 - so happy to see Steve kicking it, working his ass off making Frame By Frame work and in his own way. Man - that's so fun!!! The whole band is absolutely superb!! Well done gentlemen!
No mention of Danny Carey?
This tour is such an unexpected and wonderful gift from the musical gods. I so hope they come to the UK
Waiting Man is just the best. My fave tune of that era of KC.
Thanks for sharing this!. Remarkable performances 😮
Thanks for the wonderful music, I can't get enough of this Amazing Artistry, these guys are phenomenal and a force of nature. Have a wonderful weekend and PEACE AND LOVE TO EVERYONE ❤❤.
Love your good will message! And back to you!
It's refreshing seeing "crimson" in the modern era recorded so I can actually see them play
They all sound fantastic. They are breathing life into this great music
I like how Steve decided to play some parts by tapping them instead of pure alternate picking. It gives them a different flavour.
Tapping is a cheat code.
Thanks for sharing this. I saw them last night and I think it was the best concert I've ever been to. Have been looking for good footage to show to friends and this is the best video I've found. :)
I was there, SO glad someone captured Vai's extra magical solo, he was just on fire that nite, worthy of Belew fist bump!
One of the best video's
of 'Beat' so far☝️
And sound very good
Indeed- I'm waiting for them to get to that "Pristine Level" that is KC and it looks like they have reached it- I will buy my $700
That’s so nice of you to say that. The seat was a gift from heaven as someone did not come back after the break, so I just sat down there. One the best parts was that Belew continuously radiated joy, and it poured off him and the stage and onto us. I/we beamed it back at him/them, and he just smiled and smiled. For some reason they let me film it, but shut down the people in the balcony. I was not blocking anyone. I never do that. I held the camera low nearly the whole time perhaps is why.
@@tracycramer4817 You're very welcome, Tracy! Well done!
I wish that I could have made a
video or had taken pictures, in
1982, when the 'Discipline' line up
played a concert in my hometown,
Nijmegen, in the Netherlands!! I was 24.
No smartphones yet in those days...
Too bad. Forgot to take a small camera to the concert...
But most of it is still in my head and I remember that concert as one of the best ever! The perfect line up!
And the perfect music.
Discipline will always be my
favorite KC album.
Since when are you a KC
fan?
@@tracycramer4817 yes one of the Belew qualities, he is full of joy when playing, like us hearing him ;-)
Adrian Belew, what a singular musician.
wow. this video is like a dream come true
That somone should vacate their seat after the break led to this vid. Couldn't believe it either that it happened. Thanks.
Thank you for taking the HD recording. I saw the show last night in NYC and will see it again live in a few months. Even with a wandering camera, you caught an exceptional moment quite nicely. This music is really HARD to do live.
Thanks.
And a superb version of Frame By Frame... The best sounding yet, I think.
I saw the show in Dallas, and when Danny came in with the drums after the first verse, it was absolutely massive. An electrifying moment. Easily the best version of Frame by Frame I've heard.
Maybe of this lineup. Vai's tapping cannot recreate the driving feel of Fripp's alternate picking.
Oh that was absolutely delightful ! Frame by Frame!!!!
Saw this in '83 and I was So mesmerized by Bruford and Belew. Can't wait till October 21st to do the same with Carey and Belew.
AND...So Cool how Vai does his part. Insanity at it's Greatest.
Getting better by the day - great upload
So good. And when "Sleepless" started - lovelovelove.
I keep coming back to more show videos just to see the Sheltering Sky solos!
Me too, and steve evolving day to day playing it better and better....
Thanks for posting this. My son and I are seeing them tonight, 9/28, in Clearwater, Florida. It is at the same venue where we saw King Crimson in 2019
Saw king crimson on the thrak tour ❤❤❤
I have to take back everything I said about Vai from the previous videos. They have gotten this shit down and I love what they are doing! Wow! This is the best the 80s stuff has ever sounded.
frame by tapping, I love it
❤
No one can perform alternate picking in such a relentless fashion as Robert Fripp ... That's why Steve Vai had to resort to 'tapping' on 'Frame By Frame'...That being said...I dig this band...!❤😊❤😊❤😊❤
holy smokes Steve, that's mighty impressive
Thank you for capturing this. I wasn’t able to hop to Vancouver to see them but I’m hoping - as the tour is successful - that they’ll cycle back soon someday.
wow, Mr Vai's solo on sheltering sky, im all giddy like a 10 yr old kid on christmas morning,
Steve is really great in sheltering sky, now he has his place for sure in the story
Lo mejor de lo mejor
Well this kicked ass.
so great , they dont let KC die , continue the magic
wow. Thanks so much for sharing!!!
5:55 "this chair cushion is super chushioney...6:10 this seaT is great for seat dancing.." love this
Funny. That was me. It's a historic theater, and the seat I was in was cramped and the cushion was wrecked. Moved into the front center vacated seat after the break. Can you believe it? Belew just radiated joy, it poured off him and stage. Not to mention the great view AND a new cushiony seat cushion!!
Great seeing this ahead of the Atlanta show -- Beat rules!
Autumn 2024 US Tour
Been waiting 40 years to see this live again since '84 on the pier in NYC! I'll be in Richmond VA this time... can't wait!
Hell yeah! I saw them last night in Atlanta. Had been wanting to see these songs live every since I got into King Crimson when I was 16, which was about 14 years ago. NEVER in my wildest dreams, did I imagine I'd get to see Adrien and Tony up there with one of my idols in Danny Carey (I'm a drummer myself), playing all these wild, experimental songs. The fact that they got Steve on guitar is overkill, but in the best possible way haha. I've never even been a big fan of Steve but I always appreciated his immense talent, and the way he's able to play so smoothly while still having tons of soul. I honestly am not sure if there's any other guitar virtuoso that could fill in for Fripp as well as he's doing right now.
And I saw them the other night and they were AWESOME!
thanks for sharingt this magic
Steve Vai is such a skilled guitarist. Watching him TRY to cover for Fripp here, just makes you realize what an amazing guitarist/musician FRIPP is.
Favorite musicians, but they miss Fripp
Can't wait to see this in Toronto next month! A little melody from For the Love of God at 14:23
I'll see them in NJ in October. Can't wait! It's cool to see Vai as a band member playing with others as part of a team.
This is wonderful. Thank you, Tracy.

Tony Levin doesn't get enough credit for his input to all these songs, dammit
I was longing to be able to give him ear and eye attention, but he was behind the tom toms and keyboards.
At the 14:45 mark, during Sheltering Sky, Steve Vai starts performing voodoo magic tricks on the guitar. Thats one of the most unique solos I've ever heard!
I like how you put that. I called them shamanic to someone when I saw that.
god bless you for uploading this

Steve and Adrien are having such a good time = )
It was so much fun seeing them at the Paramount Friday night. There was a CD at the merch table by Adrian called "Toe in the Ocean" because I discovered the next day it's apparently only being sold at these shows on this tour. If you see it at a show where you're at...just buy it. Amazing show...have fun.
All-time favorite Crimson tune!!
You need Maria Barbieri for Fracture, Larks' Tongues and the Talking Drum
Will be seeing you guys tonight in Dallas!!! 👏👏
Belew is the master of guitar effects
Too much digital modelling now
The sheltering sky........
🔥🏴 𓄂𓆃🏴🔥
Adrian’s voice is perfect! 😮
Danny is doing a great job of channeling Bill Bruford on this!
I think I finally understood what felt awkward with all this. It's the lights! KC needs to be played in the dark 🤌
Great to meet you there! I saw you dancing in your chair up there. Thanks for the VIP!
Hey Patrick, it's you! So nice you commented so I could say hello. You are the Clockwork Angel to me! Best to you, tracy
Adrian plays and sings rxactky like he did 40 years ago. This has been the best musical tour ofvthe last decade tbh
Actuality.... He's holding back. (Belew).. For whatever reason. I've seen Crimson over the years. & Vai. & Tool. Having seen many quite candid interviews, right up to their 1'st show, More live rehearsal &... Getting the live house & monitor mix would yield a Much more mind blowing show. They are getting better with each show. { I've been a Performing musician for Decades} Daaam... I WISH Iwas there !! &... They are just ahead of these F N Hurricanes !!! The Force is with them !!!
This was a fantastic night. I wasnt able to film much of Levin so Im happy to see you did so.
Totally! It was hard to get him from the angle I was and the equipment in front of him.
Thanks Tracy !!! Saw the Phoenix show "In The Round" AMAZING !
You are most welcome. So cool, that theater, saw Jon Anderson (YES) and the Band Geeks there on 8/14. Loved it.
Extraordinaire
Intro part is amazing! Daney is ROCK!
Fantastic video

I was in the balcony and the ushers were watching us like hawks. I could only record a little at a time. Great footage!
Interesting. That being so, why they would let me film and not you. Go figure!!
This is the Beat. Always my beat. KC.
niiiice… they’re having more fun as the tour goes
Mark 23:10, Belew’s hand poised in the sky, down it comes, 23:11, “chonggg!”, and then again, like Thor’s hammer hitting vibranium or adamantium! My head exploded.
When you Vai it up. The fractal in action.
Well done...
$o jealous you got these great seats!!
It was a gift from heaven. I moved into it after the break as someone vacated it. Can you believe it. One the best things about it was that Belew just radiated joy, it poured off him and the stage.
Danny Carey not in a basketball jersey is something to adjust to. 🤔☺ So looking forward to seeing them in November. This is just almost too much. Each one of these guys is just ICONIC.
Thank you tracy, you lucky guy

Has to be surreal for Danny
Of ALL the things on the stage I could possibly look at, the 1st thing I noticed was Adrian's shoes... They look like a pair of Skechers turf golf shoes I have. He must need that extra traction up on the stage!
Man I wish I had those seats!
It was pure luck or divine intervention that after the 15 min break, walking in front of the stage to scope out whether anything had opened up, that the lights dimmed, I saw the open vacated, can you believe it, seat, and just sat down!
New fan of this band. Very old fan of Danny Carey and Tool.. I can hear some similar sounds.. and you can spot Danny's smile from anywhere... great new band to add to my mental musical selections
21:54 smooth as hell
Steve Vai's shredding solo halfway through shows this is NOT King Crimson but a unique band playing KC songs of 1 KC era.
I like it!!!!!!!!!!!
14:27 Steve throws in a little nod to "For the Love of God"
Two Zappa’s guitarists play Crimson. Super…
Robert Fripps relentless alternate picking on 'Frame By Frame' cannot be duplicated...and that is why Steve Vai must resort to 'tapping'...Love this band...❤😊❤😊❤😊❤
Interesting. Had not known why until now.
Steve Vai can play Robert's part, he just chooses to make it his own. Here are two clips of Vai and the Metropole Orkest playing it like Robert: it: ruclips.net/video/J0USK12yp7Q/видео.html
ruclips.net/video/fY9nOn-rNHs/видео.html
I wonder if this is changing the way that Vai thinks about playing, as he reacts to and slowly forms a way to interact with this music,
I want to hear them play "Johnny B Good". Steve still hasn't got to Roberts trick of playing "inside" the other guitar.
Drum solos usually bore me. Not this one! Everyone on this stage has an internal metronome that is quite mind blowing! Beautiful job, thanks for sharing!
17:00 sounds like a commercial jet coming in for a landing.
Creo que para la edad de Belew en Waiting Man debió estar más alto el amplificador y además es mucho más cómodo (en los 80 y 2000 el amplificador estaba a media altura.
Great footage. Anyone have a setlist for these shows?
thanks. www.setlist.fm/setlist/beat/2024/paramount-theatre-austin-tx-5bab1724.html
Ah, this roland gr300, only belew knew how to make it sound like that
Tonight at the Eastern in the ATL.
To anyone following this tour more closely than I- are they changing up the set lists at all? Or are they pretty much sticking to the same set list every night?
@wowzee898 Most informative. Thank you.
Are they coming to Detroit?
Obviously Fripp invented parts Via is great a player
I don't want to be a spoilsport but King Crimson Music can do without anyone except Robert Fripp.
What about introducing some improvisation in the middle of some pieces or between them ? Improvisation was part of the shows of the early versions of King Crimson.
The 80s lineup didn't really improvise outside of the solos. Same here.
@@Cpayne30 I see. I believe that from impros, new music could emerge and that would make BEAT more than just a tribute band.
@@FilippoGianCarloB I mean....Vai is already bringing a different flavor to Fripp's parts and in some cases, playing something totally new. I think that already sets it apart from a tribute band, not mention that half the band is from the original. It's a spinoff, I'd say.
