This is how my grandma used to make stuffed artichokes. She showed me once but I could never remember exactly how long to cook them. I have saved this video so I can make them and remember my grandma. Gosh I miss her.
@heres the thing.... No! This is exactly how my grandma made them also. There are 2 ways to make stuffed artichokes. I don't know if this was specifically the Sicilian way to make it, but that is the part of Italy my grandma was from. We eat all the leaves until we get to the tiny thin leaves in the center, then you pull the rest out, scoop out the furry inside and eat the heart...sooo delicious! 💙
Just beautiful.. I opened the comments to post one and saw the rest in peace on a few. What a loss here on earth but what an angel God has received. I am now going to watch more. I'm grateful for the artichokes I purchased today and no clue to make. I found an even bigger treasure then learning what to do with them. I found Clara . I am grateful . God Speed lovely lady and thank you to whomever was smart enough to share her with the world .
“We’d only have one gift, but that would make us happy.” Clara’s words make me cry. They didn’t have much but they had a big family and no-one was lonely. Makes you wonder what is most important.
and then she revealed they did not have a christmas tree! Her Aunt had the one, and they enjoyed that one! I was surprised. Incredible woman, she lived the REAL life.
Artichokes were my Nonna specialty, she used minced garlic, lemon juice, salt, pepper and olive oil. So delicious, we all got one a piece. My uncle used to try and pay us kids a quarter for ours 😂, they were worth 10 bucks at least !!

When Miss Clara had the giggles at the end I was sitting here laughing too! This grandson has done such a wo derful thing for all of us to partake of. We really need this kind of love and pure goodness. This is Italian Soul Food.
My parents are PA Dutch so I never grew up eating artichokes. I dated an Italian girl in high school and her mom had my mom, my sister, and myself over for dinner around the holidays and she served these. All three of us were raving about them and I now make them every Christmas. The only difference between this recipe and the one I use is using butter instead of olive oil. Regardless, Clara was a better cook than I could even dream of being. She was a character.
I started crying at the end from her laughing. I hear my great aunt in her, she was actually older than Clara, but just as sweet. Thanks for posting these.
"This next one is almost as stubborn as I am (chuckles). But I'm gonna WIN (chuckles again)"! I love this woman! Makes my day since I discovered her! RIP Clara!!
Clara was one in a million. I remember as a kid at Christmas eating artichokes and scraping the leaves with my teeth. Clara reminds me so much of my mom and all my aunts. I miss them all.
I could watch her videos all day..!! I just love this lady her voice, her stories, just everything about her. I wish I would of made videos of my grandma like this.
Oh Clara, we loved your laugh!!! Your smile was priceless and for me, you filled my days with such love, watching you cook and hearing the most wonderful stories. I don't think there will ever be enough thank you's for what you gave us. To a beautiful soul who will sadly be missed. I feel like I knew you in some way. Thank you Clara for the privilege of letting the world get to know such a kind and giving person.
What a doll! I so enjoy her videos. Her family was so lucky to have her. RIP dear Clara. Who are the 91 people who gave it a thumbs down?? I feel sad for them.
I stumbled across Clara’s videos by chance I now have subscribed to her channel She reminds me so much of my nonna. They ways she cooks and they way she talks and tells her stories. She makes me laugh and makes me cry . God bless you Carla. God bless my nonna , I miss my nonna so much Clara I know you are non longer with us but I thank you so much for you knowledge , humor , and all they great food and memories you brought Good bless
Thank you so much to Clara's grandson for posting all these videos and making them with your grandmother. I live in Japan, and I don't see my family in America. Both of my grandmothers are gone....this fills a huge grandmother gap in my heart!!!! God bless you!!! Thank you Clara for giving gifts, long after you've left us. I wish I could've met you.
About 4 humans have made me "feel" warmth in my "heart" (people call it happiness, positive emotions etc...). She is one of those 4 humans. 🤗 thank you
I am half of Clara's age but not half as lively . She is so beautiful in her simplicity , liveliness and her joy of sharing both her recipes and memories ........
Yes, my poor family in Ohio could only have artichokes once a year. We just boiled them and dipped the leaf bottoms in drawn butter. The hearts were the prizes. I've made them for my French husband who has Breton roots -- and I've studied in Italy, what little I could afford. These can be cooked large or very small, too -- they are a lot of work to make and eat but they're good! A member of the thistle family, these grow well in very poor soils and were bloody heck to harvest! I just cringe when I see old photos of Bretons in their coarse clothes and the wooden shoes needed for the country, pricking themselves on them! My husband considers them too labor-intensive to eat but he really enjoyed the try! He could see, you don't get much food, but it's quite astringent and packs a punch! Bless you and Clara, we've lost a gem! She did the best she could with her life. I am so lucky I knew all four of my grandparents! I had two grandmothers who cooked nice stuff -- one Slovenian, one Pennsy Dutch. They could make a nourishing, fragrant meal out of "soul food" -- whatever was seasonal, local, cheap and available. Greetings from France via Ohio and NYC!
I tried to get starts to keep under cover here in Kentucky in my garden. Instead I got 5# of seeds! My dad has grown them in CA & OR. Western WA gardeners can too. But our winters are too cold. 😥
Nice, I'm born NYC, moved to NJ and moving to Ohio soon...Columbus. I've been to southern France, St Jean de Luz, where my niece in Spain lives 30 mins from. You're lucky to have traveled a lot.
My grandfather was born in 1933. He tells a story (he's gone now but I remember the story and he wrote it in a book about his life so we would remember) He was like... between 5 and 8 and he woke up one Christmas and out on the fire escape (in california) there was a toy airplane. He never forgot that. That moment of totally unexpected joy that his mother and uncles got him a gift for Christmas.
Your hands are lovely and graceful, dearest Clara. They are a blessing to meditate on. Delicate and full of stories themselves of all the cooking you did.😇🙏🙏😇 P.s. your complexion stayed nice too, for over 90 years😘😉
I only met Clara a month ago, but love her. Love her and her recipes. She reminds me of what my own grandmother went through, raising 6 kids during the Depression, and losing one to tuberculosis. RIP grandma, RIP Clara.
Clara laughing fills my heart with joy, she has a great sence of humor, I'm definitely trying her artichoke recipe. Watching her is surreal, it's like she's just next door and I can walk to her house and ask her about a certain recipe or just sit and chat, I'd love to hear her stories, I'd wear out my welcome!! Sweet Clara 🙂🌹🌻🌷

The most loving cooking Demos I have ever seen. She was so Precious and loved her Humor and giggling! Thank you for sharing. Hope to find her book on amazon. It will be a treasure!

These are one of the first things my nana taught me to make during Thanksgiving when I was a little girl. She just passed away on New Year’s Eve. Watching this is consoling. I miss her dearly. Thank you, Clara. If there is a heaven, I hope you two get to know each other.
I watch at least one of her shows every day,It calms me for I am dealing with a very sick husband In the hospital which we will be going to visit for 3 days on Monday..We have to get hotel reservations because we live at the top of the mountains.. Up Date, My husband passed away the 1rst of December..
I have Clara's CD (from her website) and her book (Amazon) and love them both. I read the cookbook in one sitting. Her stories about the horrible Depression are uplifting and relevant today. And boy, are they ever interesting! My grandmother (born in 1902) lived through it and used to tell me many stories, too. My mother and aunt are close to Clara's age and remember a lot. Your ideas are so helpful. I loved your laughing at the end! Don't stop allowing us to learn from you.
Oldest patient I had was 110, sharp as a tack mentally, and still did yoga and lived on her own in a house behind her kids house. Ate vegetable soup everyday. Amazing and inspiring woman. Probably why I like these videos so much
It made me cry to watch this video because I was raised by an Italian grandmother and she cooked a lot of these foods. It brings back alot of good sweet memories. Artichokes were my favorite as a child. The only thing Clara didn't add was Italian grated cheese. My grandmother used to say "the more cheese the better they taste." How blessed to appreciate these old fashion things that required creativity and gratefulness .
I’m new to the channel. I want to get back to the basics to control cost, and healthier eating, and I can’t wait to try some of her recipes. She’s so calm, and her stories are nice to listen to. I love that she’s touching so many, even though she’s gone.
OMG! Listening her talk about the big argument every Christmas Eve was the same at my house! And then we went to my aunt’s and then to midnight mass and home for sausages!!! Great memories, even the predictable argument!! Love watching these videos.
Watching her videos always helps me feel better when i have a tooth ache or when im sick always made me feel at home, she is such a special and wonderful soul!
Clara getting so tickled at the end is the Best!! LOL. What a lovely lady was our Miss Clara. So very thankful she agreed to do these cooking/story-telling videos. I can see from reading the comments that she has touched countless hearts....mine definitely included!! Rest in paradise, Clara.
Just came upon Miss Clara a week ago, what an absolute treasure to her family. Thanks for sharing her with us- she makes me feel loved. May she rest in peace. I LOVE everything about her
Clara makes my favorite food as I grew up in a big family with a lot of pasta and.... Artichokes were one of my favorite meals and I do mean meals, with italian bread anything was a meal. Love these uploads, thanks Christopher.
Watching these videos always make me cry. She reminds me of my grandmother, it makes me so sad, I miss her so much. Clara's stories of her Mum and Dad bickering reminds me of my Grandma also 😂 My Grandpa never wanted to come to Christmas, he was a miserable old man, for the most part. I wish we'd done this with my Grandmother. I miss her cooking, and baking. Her stories. Chatting with her.
My grandma -Carmela was really the best cook -loved her stuffed artichoke-she lived with us lots thru the years and we never knew what you’d come home from school and find -stuffed artichoke-eggplant parm-pizza fritta-homemade Mac and cheese -we loved her so much and miss her dearly
She is awesome. I've been watching all day. Had to make a comment, no choice. Money can't buy this. :) My grandma was a lot like her. Homemade everything.

OMG! Listening her talk about the big argument every Christmas Eve was the same at my house! And then we went to my aunt’s and then to midnight mass and home for sausages!!! Great memories, even the predictable argument!! Love watching these videos.
Thanks for sharing her with the world. These videos have brought me comfort having lost my grandma many years ago

I have family in Sicily. I lived there twice. On the side of the road Italians sale grilled artichokes very good. With bits of garlic and salt.
So adorable. So sad she's gone :) love you Ms. Clara

She was such a lovely lady so full of life and joy😚
I wish i had known my grand parents the way you have. You are very lucky to have had such a person in your life like that. God bless Clara. God speed.

Just came upon Miss Clara a week ago, what an absolute treasure to her family. Thanks for sharing her with us- she makes me feel loved. May she rest in peace. I LOVE everything about her
Bless her soul. She is adorable.
Clara makes my favorite food as I grew up in a big family with a lot of pasta and.... Artichokes were one of my favorite meals and I do mean meals, with italian bread anything was a meal. Love these uploads, thanks Christopher.
She is so cute! Watching this during Covid-19 makes me appreciate the simple things in life!💕
Watching these videos always make me cry.
I see why she made these during Christmas time. They look like flocked Christmas trees!
She can't get any cuter. We just found these a couple days ago and we have watched them all. What a sweet lady.
I love it when she says I'm gonna Win! and hits the artichoke on the table!!!:)
