In the last 3 days; I met Clara, drank lots of strong Italian style coffee, made the dandelion salad, the pepper and eggs and the delicious almond chocolate biscotti. All so very delicious… I now think of Clara every time I make myself a good strong coffee. Thanks for sharing Chris the wonderful life and spirit of your favourite person. She was indeed so wonderful.
Years ago i found her dandelion salad video and forgot to subscribe. I'm sad she's gone bit I'm so happy to have found her chanel again. She'll be remembered by so many people 🧡🧡
My nanna was just like Clara. Born in 1913, from Malta (which is right next to Sicily and very close in cultures), lived through the depression, married in Malta like Clara married in Sicily, and cooked from scratch with everything. Both Catholic and both had Mother in laws that didn't like them! 😆 They both express themselves with their hands and talk loud. I miss the old ways so much and these videos bring back so many memories. My Nanna was born in Malta and came to America with my Maltese Nannu in 1939. My mother was the baby, so I am the youngest grandchild and I feel like I'm the last generation to grow up with these old traditions. I was born in the late 70's. My Nanna died at 93 in 2006 and I was so lucky to have her as long as I did. I miss her soooooooooo much! Thank you for these precious videos! I went and bought an Italian Bialetti Moka Pot today and can't wait to try this! God bless! ❤️
The part at the end was hilarious. Her laughing hysterically was the highlight of my day. This really made my day better she always does! I really love her

I'm 12 years old and I watched the Depression Breakfast video earlier and now I'm in love with this lady! I'm going to teach myself (with help!) to cook these recipes.
Mrs. Clara is wonderful! I’m so glad you discovered her,- learning to cook well is a skill that will always bring you joy. It’s also a good way to show you care about someone when you cook for them. I’m learning from her too,- food doesn’t have to be fancy or expensive to be delicious. Enjoy your life ❤️
My grandmother-Clara would always correct people when they referred to her as Italian. She was Sicilian and very proud of it. My grandmother also cooked "depression style". I love watching this special lady😍🥰
I only know her by watching her on RUclips. When I found out she passed away I cried. "She was the salt of the earth". Google that phrase. So many good stories and lived through anything and everything. Rest In Peace Clara. My June 2023 comment.
I just came across Claras videos a few month ago. Many, many thanks to her grandson for convincing her to make these treasure videos! I have been watching them over and over. Clara reminds me much of my German Oma. She passed away many years ago but I always remember the nice times we shared. I am in my 50's and live in the US. Back then, my Oma used to make baked apples, just like Clara. Soon when the weather gets colder, that will be a nice treat that I had forgotten about for many years! Today I went and bought a freah pack of espresso and made it just like Clara showed, with crema! ❤ Oh, it was so good! I watched Claras video and had my espresso with Clara in spirit! ❤😊 Many thanks to the family for sharing lovely Clara with us! What an absolute joy it is to watch her! 😊
"Thank you for listening." Wow that hits me. Clara was a woman with a lot of stories to tell, and I'm glad that we got the opportunity to listen to them.
I make my espresso this way too, and now im definitely going to try that sugar crema method she showed! Hearing her stories is so heartwarming. It's also kinda sad cause there are so many old people around the world and even my community that probably don't get to share their stories and experiences and will be lost to time. Clara's videos with her grandson will nonetheless be so uplifting to many for a long time!
Love you Nana. You remind me so of all my wonderful Italian aunts, great aunts and my grandmothers who sadly are also gone now. They don't make ladies like you anymore.
I still come and watch these videos, Italian Ice, for this yucky hot weather. I cried when I found out of her passing, if she only knew how many people she touched with her amazing stories and kind spirit.
My boyfriend and I tried her "depression meal", The recipe that was hotdogs onions and potatoes all fried together. It was soooo good! Thank you for these videos. We love her so much.
She makes me so happy when I’m sad or lonely. She is like a comfort character I’ve never had. I recently found her and has been a blessing watching these videos ever since. RIP beautiful soul
Yes. I wish I had grandparents like her..or even parents like her. My mother was abusive narcissist and my father was out of family even before I was born. Grandma died when I was 6 and grandpa never cared about me and my little brother. Seeing people like her makes me appreciate strong family ties, even when I'm not part of a family.
Dear Grandson, So glad you have these wonderful memories of your grandmother. I’ll soon be 93 and about 14 yrs younger than your grandmother but my family wouldn’t share many things about the depression and my experiences with my grandmother are my fondest memories. We didn’t know we were ‘dirt’ poor because everyone was. We always had garden & canned for survival. God Bless you for recording these beautiful memories. I’ve sent them to my grandchildren & asked them to share with their children.
Clara seems like she was such a kind soul. As much as I love her cooking tips, it's the stories she tells that really interest me. I wish there were more videos of her just telling stories
"I always eat Maiale, and I'm still here!" That cracked me up so hard. What a priceless treasure of a lady. She reminds me so much of my German aunt, whom I miss so much.
I am German and first I laughed about Clara's response, just like you! Then my next thought was how rude and ignorant that was. I felt bad for Clara but she knew how to handle it for sure! When i found out that she had passed on i actually began crying, idk, she just seems like such an amazing woman (Edit: guys please stop fighting in the comments, i was just trying to talk about this woman. Why are people arguing here? Please have some kind of decency)
Each time I make this in the morning I make a toast to the life of beautiful Clara and how much she's helped people with her recipes and stories. I am grateful for her and may God rest her soul.
Right? I'd love to taste those breaded pork chops. All of Clara's recipes I've tried have been absolutely delicious. I can't believe people--especially her in-laws of all folks--would refuse to eat her meal. What's wrong with having pork in summer? It's delicious year-round.
From what I read Italians have very long strict rules about food, eating and coffee. Probably difficult to get out of that. Especially for the older generations and their traditions.
That’s how Italians (and many European countries) are, they’ll lay it on the line with you and tell you the truth. If they don’t want something, you’ll know it. It seems rude to us but i think that might just be how some people in those cultures are. Even though there’s the Italian saying “A caval donato non si guarda in bocca” which means don’t look a gifthorse in the mouth. Lol
Isn't it so bizzare, that she started posting 14 years ago, old but young in spirit. Now, 2021, after she's passed on we still get to see her, hear her and learn from her. Seeing things like this, makes me realize, that I need to start doing this for my grandma. But 14 years!!! My God, how time has gone by.
The first time I saw Clara was a long time ago, I was amazed at how she looked like my grandmother. She was always showing me how it was done during the depression. It left a real impression on me. Her childhood home was in Kentucky, and her family came from Germany. Her father built a hardware and lumber yard right after the Civil War. She used to tell me so many stories, I wish I had the forethought to write them down. I was just a kid, what did I know. At 74 these memories are a treasure that I do write down for my grandkids. Thank you to Clara's family for your recordings, they are a joy to watch.
She had a damn fine memory, all these little tidbits of stories from her past have such good details. Also at 5:27 I had to laugh, I didn’t know people put cheese on their fish, I dont think I’ve ever seen that.
@Brandon Johnson McDonald's automatically puts cheese on their fillet o fish I believe. LOL! I think that it's really strange. I bet that Clara probably didn't eat fast food. I don't think that it's a good idea either. 😁
When I was in elementary school, they would do that. I hated the fish, and loved cheese. But, they'd ruin the cheese, putting it on top of the fish, made it yucky! 😄

I can't believe so many people know her. She is more famous after death. . May she rest in peace. She just has that vibe that gives off cool gran. ✌️❤️
IKR?
Do you watch EmmyMadeInJapan? She has done Clara's recipes before!
@@Margar02 I used to watch her,I like her videos
@@Margar02 ahaha lol that is exactly what I meant. The poor man feast right?
This woman has brought me joy for so many years. ❤️🙏🏻
I found this wonderful and beautiful Lady’s RUclips CHANNEL ABOUT 10 years ago and many years later I still enjoy rewatching her videos and reading here cooking book! It and her DVD and her book are still available at Walmart and Amazon today! Clara reminds me and many others of our Grandmothers and our MOMS! That a joy to watch her videos and read her cooking book!
I KNOW THAT SHE CAN HEAR AND SEE HOW MUCH WE LOVE HER SHARING! R.I.P. CLARA🙏❤🙏
PS TO HER GRANDSON…THANK YOU FOR PUTTING THIS WONDERFUL SERIES TOGETHER FOR US ALL…WHAT A WONDERFUL GIFT TO OUR WORLD ESPECIALLY NOWADAYS…AND YES I BOUGHT BOTH OF HER VIDEOS AND HER BOOKS!👍🙏❤🙏
I got my reminder set! She's the only one I've waited for to watch a premier on RUclips. I won't wait for anyone else. Lol
Same thing here, this video was my first reminder ever.
Say hi to my grandma for me
She’s so calming to watch 💕. Im craving poor mans meal now!
Right! I'm going to make her egg drop soup for dinner🙂
@@sarahnichols4253 I haven’t tried that one but it looks awesome.
@@jul_minty1918 It's really good! So simple and yet feels like a meal made with love from a grandma💞 I've made it quite a few times now😀
Is Poor Man’s Meal the one with the hot dogs? I made that not long ago, and my boyfriend loved it - he said it’s like comfort food! I should make it again for this week’s snowstorm.
@@cgfllagc84857 Yep, I haven't tried that one but watched the video and it looks good...I should try it😊
Wow❤ this has touched my heart beyond belief❤ she is just precious❤ so hard to believe I'm just finding her videos 10 years after she has gone home❤ I just fell in love with her on the first video I seen tonight and I hope her family remembers her for the amazing lady that she was❤
Everytime I see Clara I smile. So I bought me an "OWL" 🦉Cookie Jar, just like hers. I fell in love with it and Clara.
I wish I knew her, how blessed her family was to have her 🙏🏻💞
When i found out that she had passed on i actually began crying, idk, she just seems like such an amazing woman
(Edit: guys please stop fighting in the comments, i was just trying to talk about this woman. Why are people arguing here? Please have some kind of decency)
I bawled my eyes out too. 😭
@@gracereeves7803 when did she pass? I feel sad now
@@emilynicole6104 I googled it, and she had passed in 2013

Aw boohoo cry about it more
Coming back here as a 24 year old I still miss Clara, such a Lady. May she rest in peace 💕
Clara, we are witnessing another depression. Thanks for calling on us at this hour. :)
Her story of meeting her mother in law was so adorable! I love her stories!
Each time I make this in the morning I make a toast to the life of beautiful Clara and how much she's helped people with her recipes and stories. I am grateful for her and may God rest her soul.
Thank you! This makes these strange times a bit more bearable.... We could all need a nonna these days.
I love her, she's like my grandma. So sweet, but fiesty.
The absolute nerve of those people refusing to eat the dish that Clara so thoughtfully made.
Right? I'd love to taste those breaded pork chops. All of Clara's recipes I've tried have been absolutely delicious. I can't believe people--especially her in-laws of all folks--would refuse to eat her meal. What's wrong with having pork in summer? It's delicious year-round.
@@AliciaNyblade yes...weren't they Italians???.. I miss those people..we have none here...it's too small a place for good Italian families...,❤
Totally. Height of bad manners as my mother would say.
Lol
Oh my gosh, my heart jumped when I saw this in my feed!
I have never achieved more serotonin in my life then now. I’m so happy there’s a new upload!!!!
Such a treasure to hear her laugh, like gold.
Hello dear how are you doing over there?
CHRISTMAS ANGEL 👼
Thank you for sharing your beautiful memories of your grandmother
I got one of these coffee pots as a gift this Christmas. I’ll make the coffee Clara’s way 😊 what a special lady.
What is it called? Do you know where it came from?
Just ordered mine... :)

You won’t believe how big i smiled when i saw that you uploaded a new video of her. Rest in peace Clara! you’re legacy won’t be forgotten. ❤️
Thank you to Clara's family for your recordings, they are a joy to watch.
the story at the end was SO CUTE
Clara’s love for coffee is a mood
Hello dear how are you doing over there?
People like her should be the best example for young people today a real world and a true wholesome person
@@tinajenkins8410 🤔😁🤣
The Grandma of the internet, Clara, is so needed right about now. Thanks for the upload.
Why am I just coming across this sweet lady’s RUclips channel? She reminds me so much of my grandmother. My grandfather on my dads side was Italian.. Sicilian ♥️

I agree, she is sooooooooo my grandmother i never had. I remember the foods & physical items so well from my 1960's childhood. She has been a blessing even now after her passing.
In these dark times, at least we have Clara.

I love this woman and her positive attitude. I wish we had her now during the pandemic.
We're in a recession, with high inflation in America, and it's getting worse.
Watching her now because of the high inflation! Nothing like having a solid pro giving us survival tips and recipes!
I'm one of the youngest in a very large family of cousins and didn't get to truly know my grandma like this. Watching Clara helps me feel united with my grandma who is now in Heaven with Clara. I love watching these videos!
