Polvoron has become a favorite gift or pasalubong to give to friends, family and even to friends overseas. It's easy to make and only need a few ingredients. You can also make it into a business.
Polvoron is a popular delicacies here in the philippines. It's like a crumbly cookie made of toasted flour, sugar, powdered milk and butter or margarine.
Aside from the traditional polvoron recipe other variants from the basic polvoron recipe adds pinipig (pounded and toasted young green rice) and nuts. There are also several recipes made from this well loved filipino treat. There are cookies and cream, chocolate coated polvoron, ube (purple yum) and many others.
But my polvoron recipe that i'll be sharing includes crushed graham. And i add some sprinkles, rice krispies and nips to make it more colorful and to add some twist.
I'll never get tired of this sweet treat. Hope you like it!
Polvoron Graham
Ingredients
1 cup all purpose flour
1/2 cup powdered milk
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup melted butter
1/2 cup crushed graham
Rice krispies
Nips
Sprinkles
Material: Polvoron Mould
Procedure
1. Sift flour. Toast flour in a pan in moderate heat for about 15 minutes or until light brown. Stir constantly to avoid burning.
2. Transfer the toasted flour into a bowl and let it cool.
3. Then add powdered milk and toss for a couple of minute.
4. Add sugar and melted butter. Mix well.
5. And lastly , add crushed graham. Mix throughly until well combined.
6. Divide mixture into three equal portion. Add rice krispies, sprinkles and nips or any colorful candies of your choice to give your polvoron a modern twist.
7. Fill the polvoron mold with the mixture, press it hard by using spoon, then release it.
8. Place polvoron in an airtight container then chill in the fridge until firm. And its ready to be wrap in japanese paper or colorful cellophane.
Keep the polvoron refrigerated until you want to eat them.

what a great idea ... 💓💓💓 definitely will try this out but here in US I don't know where to get the polvoron mold so I might use a silicone mold instead.
you can just use a round tablespoon measuring spoon or a silicone mold

Yun kasi yung alam kong ginagamit sa paggawa ng polvoron. Instead melted butter you can also use margarine.

Suggested price:
(Total Cost of Ingredients x 3) / Number of polvorons made = Price per piece.
You may sell it retail (per piece) or wholesale (packs of 10s, 20s,...)

My suggestion of Multiplying it by 3 is just a formula I have in my chocolate hobby from time to time that I make them... And using that formula to be used in polvoron is only a suggestion, a guideline that you may adjust... not a rule, not a law.

I-base mo na lang sa nagastos mo at saka kung ilan yung nagawa mo kasi ginawa ko lang ito para pang-dessert namin sa bahay.

We only cook the FLOUR.
Without cooking, we can readily consume all the other items in their present state... except for the flour which is the ONLY UNCOOKED ITEM within the list of ingredients.
We toast the flour over low heat, constantly mixing so as not to burn the flour. The flour is ready when it is light brown in color. Turn off the heat.
Then mix in everything when the flour is still WARM.
Mix in dry ingredients.... then the wet ingredient.
Let it cool, then mold it.
putting it in the refrigerator (NOT THE FREEZER) helps to stabilize the shape
The butter within the polvoron hardens the polvoron's shape because of the cold environment. (its like putting a little water in the sand to make sandcastles tall and hold its shape)
