    I've spent 30 years repairing vehicles. I think it's time for a change. I want this guy's job destroying things; no customers to satisfy. It has to be a great stress reliever!

    This is so cool. I have watched this video a few times already. I had a family come over my home to watch it with us. We all enjoyed it and decided to share it with another family who is willing to drive 3 hours to watch it with us. Guess you can't go wrong with this video. It's very nice to see that a great video can get do great reviews. I will be watching it again tonight with our neighbor.

    As an unfortunate regular customer of New York city's MTA bus, I find this video very soothing for the soul, the dysfunction that is MTA is absurd. Notice how the operator kept picking on the drivers seat location.. I guess he's a customer too!!

  • @stephentaylforth4731
    @stephentaylforth4731 8 лет назад +1

    They'll have taken any bits deemed to be worth saving off it before it gets fed to this machine. Working parts are worth a lot more than shredded scrap. This is a cheap way of dealing with the residue thats left after they've removed the valuable bits.

    That's an "RTS" transit bus which has a unitized body and frame. They are very strong and to qualify for federal transit administration funding, they must pass a 4000 Lb. side impact test.

    • @kansasthunderman1
      @kansasthunderman1 9 лет назад +2

      ***** Transit agencies can get funding (70% of the cost) from the federal government to buy new buses every 12 years.
      That encourages agencies to just scrap their existing buses instead of maintaining and rebuilding.
      It's a huge waste resources

    What a horrid waste of a good bus!! The GMC RTS II Advanced Design bus was and still is the MOST durable coach GM ever built. As for scrap value, the body panels are worth about $200 each. The windows about $300 each The door engines even as rebuilable cores about $150. The HVAC package over $2000. The engine core about $2500. The transmission another $2500. Who ever sent this bus to be dismantled in this way was a FOOL!!

      +Wayne Alan I used to work in the transit industry and agencies can get federal $$$ to buy new buses whether they need them or not. When it comes to free $$$ from the government, it's a case of "Use it or lose it". However, its' also a huge -and I mean HUGE- waste of both financial and material resources.

      +Cacharroteca NOS
      I agree, that was a terrible on what they did to that bus.
      It looked like it could have been fix, there didn’t look like any thing was
      wrong with it, it even had a motor. They probable couldn’t start it up so they
      scrap it.

    • @styldsteel1
      @styldsteel1 9 лет назад

      +Tim L No sir. The average life span of a bus typically is about 15-20 years. After that time, the frames and bodies develop stress cracks. My company uses x-ray on the frames. NJDOT comes in and determines whether or not the bus gets a new sticker. If it does not pass their tests? The bus get's put out of service. So you can't just look at the this video and say, nothing wrong with the bus.

    • @timl3417
      @timl3417 9 лет назад

      Wow… I didn’t think they did that to determine that the bus would have to taking off the road if it didn`t pass. I wondered what then did with all the old buses because I never seen any,.. any wear. Now I know that they go to the scrap yard to get re-cycled. Thank you for telling me that.

    • @styldsteel1
      @styldsteel1 9 лет назад

      +Tim L well on the flip side of this, the scrap yards will gladly sell the buses as long as they hold the title to a private individual. in some cases, they take them to club meets where other bus fans own their own buses. some buses even get turned into more motor homes.

    • @styldsteel1
      @styldsteel1 9 лет назад

      +Tim L there is a scrap yard in new Jersey that sells buses, if they have any at that time for about 6000 bucks.
