- I've got a couple Game Boy Color games that just won't boot. Even after cleaning, they don't go past the boot screen. Luckily, it's a common and easy fix that plagues Game Boy games

Miss this channel. It's creepy how many youtubers on my subscription list have just dropped off the face of the planet the last couple years.
I miss this channel too. Such a good one. Like watching a friend repair stuff.
But I also agree on the RUclipsrs disappearing. Wonder what's causing this?
Miss it too 🥹
At least he was clear on his reasons for winding down... retro collecting prices are too expensive to make repair and flips like this feasible as a side hustle.
@@ecoao80 where did he mention that? Im just asking to see the source
Man, i am so sad there is no new content coming. I always loved to watch his repair or modding videos. :(
where is this guy? hope its fine
How do you know there is no new content coming? I like these videos too.
After watching your videos for a while I finally got off my butt and started repairing nonworking cartridges. Happy to say I've brought 7 games back from the brink that otherwise would have ended up in a landfill.
Nice! Good job saving some carts
Any tips to start with it?
@@RetroRepairs please check your Facebook messages! I need your help my friend! Haha
"That's kinda disappointing" lmao I actually laughed with that one. Shows you how much Adam loves what he does.
This was/is my favorite repair channel, hope you come back with more and are doing well.
I think its really cool watching someone I admire and have learnt a lot from still learning something new about fixing these things up.
It's one of the neat things about this sort of retro repair space. Because it's all second party repairs rather than going off of manuals and info from manufacturers we are all learning and teaching one another!
Yeah, I've learned everything i know pretty much from RUclips, and i hope that can help others with similar issues. It's a great community and resource
Man i remember that Spongebob game. My dad got it for me back when KB toys / Babbage "later Gamestop"was still in business here in Puerto Rico. Spended hours playing it but never finished it lol.
Just want to say that I appreciate the effort you put in to repairing video games and uploading it onto RUclips. Your videos are very informative and helpful to those trying to learn more about repairs. Keep up the great content!
Where did you go bud? 😕
I just wanted to swing by and say thank you for making repair videos. I was able to fix this princess night light for my daughter using your circuit board repair technique with using a wire. It might not be a difficult repair, but as far as my daughter is concerned, I'm a hero. Thank you again.
Hey Adam, I wish I had found your content sooner. I'm particularly a Nintendo nerd, Gameboy and N64. I love the cart repair 🤘 I hope you continue to produce videos. Every time is the chance to find and educate on a different problem. Really great stuff. Thanks man.
you know you want to reflow all the pins though lol
Wow hope you are ok man, I guess you are just busy as there are always gaps without content, but never been a full year! Hope to see you back soon I love this channel, better than John Riggs with his 1up card!
Hope to see you come back one day Adam. Really enjoy your videos and you’ve helped me fix a few things of my own. Hope you’re doing alright!
Miss the videos, hope you are well ❤
I got started a year ago repairing stuff cuz of this channel. It's a shame you don't post anymore
Please come back! Retro fix community misses you
Your videos are so informative and relaxing. I hope they never stop! Thanks for what you do my friend.
I remember when i started diving into console/games repairs 1-2years ago.
i started here from this channel looking how to repair game cartridges such as: N64 games, Gameboy games and such.
thanks to you, i’m more into this Trade today !😎
Awesome videos...Was able to fix my Resident Evil Gaiden cartridge with the help of your videos. Able to trace all the contacts with my multimeter and found a couple of disconnections. With a couple of wires installed to reconnect, it is up and running with full save support. Thanks and keep it up.
I hope you find something new to work on soon. I liked seeing new things you find and fixed. Your voice is pretty much perfect for this type of video, as it's calm clear and soothing.
Currently rewatching some videos. But I hope to see some more relatively soon
Happy New Year, dude!! Hope your 2022 went well and that you're doing great. We miss you!
Hope you are okay bud! Really miss your videos!
Appreciate the work you put into your videos, hope you're doing alright, best wishes.
I hope I’m not the only one, but I really enjoyed the guitar pedal repair. Regardless of your next video, based on your previous work, I’m sure it’s going to be great/informative.
Well, seems like if you want to dump some of those lower value game carts, just label them as "for part/repair" and people will buy even the worst games just to try and repair them, lol.
Sadly, it seems to be driving up the price of broken hardware.
If you're into circuit boards or anything similar from the era, they're actually pretty easy to repair, it's usually just the contacts and a few chips.
@@mustangmckraken1150 depends of what we talking about. If it’s contact loss it is. But if we talking about chip shortage or power issues in more complex way... well. It’s not a 6 layer board of Xbox at last)
This video help me save my copy of Spider-Man for the GBC!!! It wasn’t booting up consistently and would sometimes freeze. I reflowed those four pins and we’re back to saving the day 🕷 Thank you 🤘🏼
Nicely done Adam!
Only a repair channel is upset when the item works, I get it just makes me giggle. Cause not have his skill i get something broken im upset. Great Video keep em coming
Haha, right?
I bought one lot a couple years ago of like 16-20 GBA games listed as not working. Every single one of them worked. It was extremely disappointed. I bought them for the content so it's rather unfortunate.
"hey RUclips what's going on?" Well...it's still my birthday for 37 minutes
Thanks man your videos are awesome! Just gathering some supplies and an snes frogger will hop once again
This video helped me save my game. Thank you!
Nice work, 2 for 2 with just partial reflows needed!
BROOOO WHERE YOU AT!!!! We need more content to fall asleep to!
Rocket power and sponge bob are my favorite childhood cartoons
Man, this was my favorite channel. I miss it. I hope Adam is okay.
Same. I'm a big fan of this channel and hope everything is ok.
What happened?
@@judebailey no idea. This was his last video and it was over a year ago.
@@SummerKnights2016 How do you know?
Excellent! My only request is more videos please.
Love your content! When’s the next video coming out?
nice fixes, hopefully the other pins dont cause issues anytime soon
Where’s the videos? Love watching your stuff!
Man I hope you’re doing well. It’s been awhile. If you needed a break it’s cool. Like I said though I hope you’re well.
miss you! hope all is well!
I'm from switzerland and it's getting spring here. Just one pin that stopped it from working. Good to know.
I'm in Quebec, it's raining today and the snow is melting! :-)
I've seen that problem on multiple Game Color carts, just some sort of factory error. And it's always the top right pin, sometimes the top two right pins. Well handled! I'm very curious to see what you do with the DS cards.
We miss you
Quick and effective. I wonder if games are any good though
Whereforth art thou Adam?
Been watching through your videos, I hope you come back to making content on this channel someday! Hope you are doing well!
i miss adam
Would love to see a red ring fix!
Thanks for this video, was awesome! What flux are you using and where did you get it?
Wow! I will try to repair all my broken GBA cartridges!
Hi there. I was wondering if you will be doing any more vides, i miss them
Is that a pube on the right of the mat?? lol. Another great video mate. Thanks
I sure hope not!
@@RetroRepairs I love your videos mate!
Nope you upload some new stuff soon and all is well!
When is the next video it’s been a year
For Rocket Power, its a Tiertex game, they were the LJN of the UK hence why it sucks.
Of course, makes sense
He must've not got more subscribers because there are no more videos. RIP this channel.
Hi, I’m new to your channel. I love what you do!
I am upgrading my soldering iron at the moment and it’s between the hakko fx-888d, the weller WE1010NA, and the TS100….Any recommendations? I notice you are using the hakko. I’m leaning towards the TS100 for portability sakes. Sometimes I work on cars, so it would be nice for that.
I have the fx-888d and it works great for me. I'm not sure how great it would be for vehicles. Larger wire might be too much for it.
Guys do you know what happened to our repair buddy?
still wondering to this day..
The whole "It's always the first/corner pin" is a mix of superstition with confirmation bias. I've heard that for years, but over years of doing this found it to be more or less a coin flip.
I don't really think so. There is a obvious reason why it would be that pin (pin is connected to the bigger copper plating which sucks the heat away).
Awesome
Where did you get that stick of flux? Looks super convenient and easy to use for repairs
Amazon. Look up "flux pen"
RetroRepiars, i really like your videos, it is very helpfull. Recently i found two of my Game Boy games, one is Mario Land 6 golden coins, and second is pokemon gold. Im struggle now to repiar this two, cleaning didnt do the job, is there any possibility to send to you pictures, with explanation what happening, and what i try to this point?
I think I have a few games that dont work Ill try that first pin trick and hope that fixes the cartridge
I have a few playstation 1 memory cards that aren’t reading and I was wondering if those are salvageable? And an N64 that wont power on-Im interested if you do videos on these!!
Can you do a basic component testing with multimeter. I know how to do it with bigger stuff but I feel like things with microchips is out of my depth
I bought the same Spongebob game broken as well: Cleaned the pins, the board and tried to reflow all the pins with my crummy soldering iron. Nothing, I will try to just reflow the corner pins and see what happens. Thanks.
It pains me to know how many Gameboy games and other games (working and broken) are just sitting in the middle drawer under the cutlery drawer. So many that will never be played again :(
Missing you buddy. More vids coming??
i read that as d-eight night as well, but it eventually dawned on me that is it supposed to be date night?
I wouldn't have paid $35 for that lot in working condition...
Luckily it wasn't working
@@RetroRepairs Lol
Help. Got GBC game that gets to boot but once passed the cutscenes to the actual gameplay it freezes to a white screen. Once I got a black screen but never beyond that.. got it be the save battery?
Hello! I just want to say, that I love your videos! They are amazing! Thank you so much for that. And it would be little bit more amazing, if you clean your repairing pad (the blue pad..) 😅 Love you
Réparation à la cool ✌️🕹
It's 72° here right now, it was 88° yesterday.
Super jealous.
We've finally got some warm weather. But by warm, i mean 50. Warmest day of the year so far
Can i get a link? I wanna buy the same flux pen & tool you use to open the carts.
Come back please
I like how on other channels someone buys a lot of super defective stuff and it's a bummer. Here? That's what you want. If the lot worked, it's no fun, lol.
I wonder why that one pin goes bad? Two carts in a row had it go bad and apparently that's a common one if those comments are to be believed, and I obviously do now!
(Somewhat) Bad board design. This pin is connected to GND (could be 3.3/5V as well, doesn't matter for the problem at hand), which is the copper plating that covers most of the board. This copper sucks the heat away when soldering, so the pins don't get connected as good as the other ones where the heat stays where it belongs while soldering.
That seller would get neutral feedback from me at best. I'm so sick of advertisements everywhere. Can we just do one thing in our lives without being advertised to?! I don't expect ads in a package from eBay. I already gave you _money,_ I should not be getting ads too.
The paper was also used as wrapping paper, so meh. Who cares just throw it in the trash if you are annoyed.
I bought a lot of broken DS Lite this week and there were coupons for Hello Fresh and babbel inside xD
Like wtf? It was a private seller, so they don't even gain anything from that. I had a good laughter at least :D
أنا لي أول مرة أشاهد قناتك. أنا جديد.عمل جميل جدا شكرا لك
Do you like working on N64 consoles? I have a n64 I have no clue how to fix and would love to see what you think and would be happy to ship it to you.
easy fix seems like; not sure why that one pin is always the issue...
That first one just needed it’s pins cleaned 🤦♂️
you doing okay bro?
👍👍
Well that was crazy easy 🤣
I’m sure DS carts and switch games are very very hard to clean.
found this channel last week and have been watching all the videos from the last year or so but no new upload in 3 months anyone know if adam is just taking a break from the videos?
I'm in the process of moving, so literally all my stuff had been in storage for 2 months, and I've been doing renos the week before.
I'm hoping to be able to pick it back up in the second half of July
@@RetroRepairs awesome thanks for the update looking forward to new videos.
Get you self Atari Jaguar) It’s cold be cool to se repair of that cartridges. But other way I never see broken one on sell... That shit probably indestructible)))
I'm kicking myself for not buying a broken one a few years ago for $100.
Have you seen the prices today? They're unreal
@@RetroRepairs Yea... But you can look up in Europe. It much more of them here and they don’t have any region lock. (And support 50 and 60hz with super simple mod). if you are ok with the green diode instead of the red of course)
@@RetroRepairs I got one for 130 usd year ago. It come lose but still a grate buy. Just clean it up, add new controller with cords and sell it to friend for 230)
I'll have to take a look, thanks
Commmmmmeeeeeeee baaaacccccckkkkkkkk
Hey bud,do you intend to start uploading again?,really mis your vids😊
I do. I just moved a few weeks ago, spent the last few months renoing and selling my house so once I'm a bit more settled in I'm hoping to start up again
@@RetroRepairs
congratulations!
Glad to hear youre okay
Where did you get that anti static mat
Amazon
It's literally the first mat one finds if he searches for one :D
Most people (including me) use this one. They offer 3 or 4 different sizes and the mat is pretty good.
Where you been man ..almost 1 year damn ..adam we miss you man😭
What was the ds game?
Haven't gotten into it yet
9 month whats happend ?
Rest in piece 🙏
Did he pass away??
did he? I love adam and his work, motivated me to enjoy fixing stuff
Wow, really that's all it took? reflow one pin.
