in addition to the reflowing, an ultrasonic cleaner might help clean some of the crud out that you can't see... all in all, you are doing God's work here saving these old games.
@@isabelyork3265I think they might have been in a house fire, would explain how it looks like they have extensive heat and water damage. You see that sort of damage a lot from electronics that have been in fires. In that case it wouldn't have been the owner' fault.
Like i know those ones where in terrible shape but for the fun of it i would of tried to see if i could get them working again before tossing them in the bin
I have the same issue with a Pokémon Crystal I’m restoring. It reads the game and then white screens! I found that if you put it in a GBA and apply down pressure to it, it works… as long as you hold the push the cart the entire time.
That looks like a box of games that someone's mum put in the shed when they moved out. Not me, but I can see how I might have dome that if my adult child had them taking up space in a room they no longer live in. One of those cartridges looks like it has a snail track where a snail ate through the paper. Note to future mums, put them in a big sealed plastic bag too. :D
One guy I have watched will scrape the solder mask away to solder tiny jumper wires to fix broken traces, then add solder mask with hardens quickly when applying UV.
Yeah I'm not a RUclipsr but I would love to give it a shot to fix some of those badly corroded I've worked on boards that are damaged even worse than that
I agree, Elon is hilarious period. I'm doubtful of his true intentions with buying Twitter, but the whole situation, especially the reactions from all sides, is still hilarious
I have a strange issue. My DK1 & 2 didn't save, I replaced the batteries. They save again. But now the game especialky DK1 crashes when playing the sound gets weird and then it reboots the game. I then try the game on a GBA SP and a Super Game Boy and It works fine. But on a Classic Gameboy it keeps doing it. I was able to play almost to the end of the 2nd world without issuea. I'm really clueless what I did wrong?
Do the japanese games work? Obviously you wont know what any text works. Recently fixed one of my childhood games. Mine are well stored no damage like here. The rom chip just needed all the joints redone on one side and the game works perfect.

...it kinda hurts to see those games in a bad condition....
I know. It just makes it all the more clear that the previous owner of these cartridges didn't take very good care of them.

@@CommanderWiggins True. That would make sense.
The fact I don't like Elon makes it funnier to me

I’m thinking flooded basement box that’s my guess

you need to reflow the solder on surface mount chip. That should fix it.
He gonna get a cease and desist from Nintendo and game freak😂
5:18 Probably broken traces, these can be solved by using a miltimeter then soldering a thin copper wire on the broken traces.
Exactly my thoughts
Maybe could you do a video on how you make the stickers, or even a short? Like the whole process?
I was chewing gum when he opened the first cart. It fell out
Sixty nine game boy games you say?
As Scott's Thoughts would say -- Nice.

Poor games, they must have been hit by the wave of explosive diarrhoea.

Very interesting! Idk if I am that good though😂
@@JakeSimmons Find some boards you know you wouldn't be able to save anyways and do that?
Dude did you order a batch of games from Fukushima Prefecture? Lol looks like they were all in salt water
Know that Japanese games maybe they came from the tsunami of 2011
You can consider to pass these to other RUclipsrs who are looking at the corrosion and fixing the lines

@@jamestheace7716can I send you my copy of Lego bionicle? It is super corroded
As far as the reflow goes, I'd try a hot air rework station and liquid solder, desolder and clean with alcohol before reworking the board

Daamnn was hard to watch those carts in those conditions

Most likely broken trace somewhere. Prob have to do what another comment said, scrape, expose and jumper wire
Great video pal 😁
House fire + fire department water
House fire messed up the plastic, water corroded the insides
An error is occurring that logo of Nintendo as symboled Chinese version.
Makho in vid background made my day.
I watch his videos while I work a lot of the time
so... how many did you fix
Not 10, Not 100… 69… You’re a man of culture 😅
kinda unfunny tho
The gold gameboy for sale ?
I use it to test a lot of stuff and it’s not in the best condition so I probably won’t sell it
I'm a big fan of horror movies ... but this is way too much!
Sick video LOL I would buy those stickers to replace my OEM stickers
Can I have the garbage ones?
I got no problem with Elon.
Those stickers are amazing!
Japanese… Maybe the tsunami?
Nice
Nice.
I would buy lol

@@spicytunaroll559 I’ll probably do a members only post about potential shirts today or tomorrow
