⁴ᴷ⁶⁰ Coastal Flooding at the Hoboken New Jersey Transit Commuter Rail Station

- Recently, the Hoboken NJT station has been experiencing some challenges with tidal flooding. This station is very close to the shoreline, and at high tide, the water sometimes floods the tracks at the end of the station. Fortunately, this condition is being alleviated with capital investments.

Taken in October 2023.
Love the new swimming lanes integrated with the tracks ...
The track with the newer style bumper must be the track where the imfamous 2016 crash took place.
Yeah it is supposedly the same track the crash happened in 2016 indeed. The train during that time didn't slow down
Good thing there's no third rail.
That would have been a bad situation
That's because of overhead wires.
I'm pretty sure salt water can fck traction motors and the running rail ground of electric trains.
@@MilwaukeeF40C if it's drench in the water too long
no surprise hoboken has always been this way 😬
Damn these NJ transit enjoying there new pool the clean their wheels.
this kind of reminds me of that one scene in Spirited Away with the two rail cars ride on traduces submerged in water
*third rail had left the chat*
Well, those wheels are getting a good wash 😄 🌊 This looks like the Sea Level rise they predicted back in the 2000s. I imagined it just like this...
No. Sea levels have not risen at the predicted rate. This is tropical weather exacerbated by el nino....natural forces.
I have seen pictures of Hoboken tide flooded years ago. It was built too low.
@@F40PH-2CATExactly, yes.
NJ Transit - water line service 2024
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I guess the NJTransit turned into an NJFerry 💀
Every clip was exceptionally shot! That opening pan was meannnn
That reminds me of a dream
I got off the F train and there was water everywhere
The station was hooked up to a special water works
And the cutest things would roam around! They were called Water Foxes! So small but so fluffy
Terrible event!! Thanks DJ Hammers👌💚
…
The water is so smooth with the wheels
NJT considers buying Tug boats to handle switching duties 😅😂
did you go down to the PATH beneath??!
Yikes… That can’t be good…
Wow man!
I like it how the operaters rlly dont care
Went to Steven Tech in the 1980s. Never saw anything like this. I wonder what the PATH station looked like.
If the water level went over the tops of the rails, would all services be suspended? I assume that there must have been some speed restrictions in place due to the flooding
Holy Geez! 😨
I actually quite like how that looks
As a NJ Transit fan, I am glad there is no third rail or Hoboken would’ve been toasted
Avarage day in hoboken
It's like the flooded-out railway line from the Studio Ghibli movie Spirited Away, but in real life - and American.
I actually like the flooding on the tracks lol
This looks like a watersides
If this doesn't prove that railroad infrastructure is falling apart then I don't know what will.
Now- 🧍🏽♂️
How they even operate those trains all of that water is gonna damage the tracks and the train in some way
They love getting motors rewound.
Not often that a train leaves a wake.
man didnt know njt switched to water transportation lol
え〜え〜怖い😨😱😨😨😱😱🥶🥶🥶🫣🫣🫣🫣😨😨😨😨
should have been a no wake zone
If there's a 3rd rail under that water, that's just death waiting to happen
No third rail but you do not want to take risks around any rails with electric trains. The running rails carry the ground path. It is possible for something to create a less resistive path by touching the rails.
Yeah it would be horrible if it was on the New York City subway
Yep, the third rail can short circuit with all the water + stuff in the water.
NY is sinking
No it isnt.
Waterpark
lol @ conductor rail laziness...
Even 3rd world countries have better train stations than this.
You probably don't 💀
